Summary: End of the world morality tale
Review: For a smaller, independent sci-fi adventure movie, Tycus poses the 'who plays god' question with intelligence and humor.

Scientist Peter Crawford (Dennis Hopper), discovers that a comet, Tycus, is on a collision course with the moon. The politcally affluent Crawford raises billions of dollars in a last ditch effort to save a cross section of humanity before the comet's affects erases all life on earth.

Journalist Jake Lowe (Peter Onorati) stumbles upon Crawford's underground city, hidden deep within the sierra mountain range. A modern day's Noah's ark. As the apocalypse nears, both men must travel through the social upheaval of Los Angeles, searching to bring their loved ones to the safe haven before it's too late.

Good special effects, good perfs by Onorati, Finola Hughes, Blake Clark and film icon Dennis Hopper. With solid support from Todd Allen and cameos by Art La Fluer and the late/great character actor Bert Remsen.

Summary: Thinking man's Armaggedon
Review: Good acting, good effects, make this little meteor movie that could worth a look see. Great perfs by Dennis Hopper, Peter Onorati and Finola Hughes. Backed up by solid support from veteran thesps Todd Allen, Art LaFluer, Robert Romanus and the late, great Bert Remsen.

Summary: Don't Bother!
Review: Not only did the effects and acting in this movie bite, but the story was terrible.

A scientist discovers that a comet fragment will hit the moon ... world leaders ignore him ... he builds a shelter ... then, everyone is upset that he is "playing God".

How lame! He built the thing, why is everyone "entitled" to access? Totally lame story, don't waste your time!

Summary: TYCUS spelled backward is SUCYT , and this movie does
Review: Some movies are so bad that they're entertaining, but Tycus doesn't merit that distinction. Tycus is simply bad. Stupid plot, amateur dialogue, poor acting, unimaginative sets & a "made-for-TV" feel all contribute to an exceptionally boring (the worst thing a movie can be) 94 minutes -- that is if one can hold on for that long. Dennis Hopper is a great actor, but he should do some jail time for appearing in this stinker.

Summary: Does not deserve the minimum 1 star rating...
Review: This is about as good as a "Laser Hawk." Do they even have a C or D rating for a flick? Too bad.

What is amazing is that there is TV stuff that is so much better - and this has the look, feel, plot, and acting of a really bad 70s TV show.

I think this movie should be revised as follows:

1. Dub all the dialog, ala woody allen, and create a spoof on bad sci fi movies.
2. Make the Amtrog company an operative of Folgers coffee, and they are planning on using the missile to stop Starbucks coffee production.
3. Let the Meteor Tycus be the wrath of god (purely metaphor) upon the entire stinking C and D movie genre, portrayed as the coffee shop of the 90's culture.
4. Let the undercover reporter be a guy who really wants a job there, and is just trying to get in to get all the great Amtrog Benefits.

I can't imagine the rights to the piece of junk cost more than 1000.00 - it is the worst of the worst.

So, I have some home movies that are a tad better than this - does some schmuck out there want to print them on DVD in major distro for me?

NO? Then why this junk...

Summary: Don't Bother!
Review: This is one bad flick. You can tell Dennis Hooper was unconfortable making it. The hero, who was a brainless brawny jerk who had no common sense, only made things worse. Come on, the earth is going to be distroyed, the hero needed to get his act together. It started out OK, but it quickly got bad. There were some good looking babes in it though and the special effects wern't too bad for a low buck flick. While some may feel it has a lot of merrit for a low budget film, the average joe is gonna be kinda dissapointed.

Summary: What an Evil movie!
Review: This movie is as lame as a rock. Nothing good is in this movie. It has almost no special effects of its own. Absolutly nothing.
All it has fo earthquakes is when a man is sleeping the earth moves. For Volcanoes. A Lavav Flow from dantes Peak, For Hurricanes a segment from a National Geographic film. Then for the Asteroid. They take seens from when An Asteroid hits the dam in Asteroid, A meteor hits what a bridge that collapses in the movie Dantes Peak, And a seen from new York in Armageddon. I only gave it two stars for some of its own (sOME OF ITS OWN) special effects. Bad Movie. Don't let the cover fool you.

Summary: DENNIS THE MENACE
Review: TYCUS is a mess, I agree. Footage from other movies...a stiff performance from perennial bad boy Dennis Hopper...why haven't other scientists acknowledged the comet....why is Peter Onorati so dumb he can't see what's going on? And why did Chick Venerra as Onorati's partner disappear and not contact him?
However, I must admit I'm a sucker for disaster flicks and even if the stolen footage isn't the greatest, I found this movie mildly entertaining. Onorati is a good actor, though this is not his best role. He did very well in DONOR UNKNOWN. Finola Hughes as his wife didn't have a lot to work with, but a valiant effort nonetheless. And remember Amy Steel from the first FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH? She has a cameo as a nasty mother who uses her child to steal Onorati's truck! That's entertainment, folks!
