Summary: "The Matrix" DVD could possibly get you evicted
Review: "The Matrix" DVD brings home the visual and audio adrenaline rush of what, in my opinion has been the best Sci Fi offering in recent memory. This DVD is a must have for any collection. The translation to disc is flawless, the colors are crisp and the sound, for those of you with surround sound, could very well get you evicted from your apt.,or At the least provoke a few knocks on the floor from the neighbor below you. There really isn't much more to say, other than there was no better action/sci fi movie this year, and most likely no better DVD out this year. Bottom line, get it, period.

Summary: a true masterpiece
Review: about once a decade we are given a movie in the science fiction genre that is a true masterpiece. in 1982 Ridley Scott gave us Blade Runner, a perfect blend of an apocolyptical story and a brilliant directorial perspective. in 1999, we are graced with the sheer power of The Matrix. this film is a unique blend of a complex and intriguing plot, absolutely seamless special effects, truly remarkable direction/cinematography, and believable acting. (now Keannu Reeves is certainly no Harrison Ford, but he actually played the part well.)

let me qualify this by saying that action films are not normally my gig. that said, even the "shoot em up" sequences are truly a pleasure to watch, mainly due to the director's artistic vision. this truly is an incredible film.

now only 17 more years for another...

Summary: The greatest sci-fi movie ever
Review: The Matrix is perhaps the most original sci-fi movie that has come out in a very long time since the first 'Star Wars' movie. The plot has profound themes about humans and computers. But the movie's sophisticated and immense theme makes the viewer want to see it twice in order to understand every detail behind every scene. At first, the intensity of the story line appears difficult to grasp. But as the viewer inmerses into the plot, the movie almost seems belieavable enough to the point of making us wonder if something similar to this could really happen some day. But as Morpheus said: "Unfortunately, No one can be told what The Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself."

Summary: A Genre-Busting Sci-Fi for the New Millenium
Review: An exhilerating action flick with adrenaline-pumping kung fu choreography. A tribute to late 90's special effects and CGI. And most importantly, a thought-provoking plot full of unprecedented premises, with an underlying message for everyone to live by: if we believe in ourselves, we are all The One.

Summary: An ACTION packed SPECIAL EFFECTS master piece!
Review: To me this movie felt like a wild ride on a Ninja zx7 going 130MPH down a winding San Fransico hill. It was intense and at the same time insightful and somewhat philosopical. It made you look at reality in a whole different light. At times however the dialog got a bit monotonous but overall 4 Stars.

Summary: Wow, the best movie!!
Review: When I saw the advertising trailers in the tv channels I thought.."A stupid action movie again" But when EVERY friend of mine told that this cyber buddha story is a must see, the best movie of the 90s, I went, and it was extremely exciting, serius, spectacular. I suppose to have one, because I saw it 5 times, and the movie tickets are expensive! :)

Summary: This could very well be the perfect movie.
Review: I haven't paid to see the same movie over and over again in a theater since Planet of the Apes when I was a kid. The kind of movie I'm going to watch over and over on DVD and still see something new every time. This film grabs your attention from the first moment and you never 'wake up' until Marilyn Manson during the credits. My favorite movie, next to An Officer and a Gentleman.

Review: I wanted to see it from the first time i heard of it and watched some of it . and when i finaly saw it in the begining of september I understood that i was right - it was something great. All the special efects were facinating. If you are still wondering weather to watchit or not...just go to the nearest cinema and buy a ticket! You won't be sorry!

Summary: Real-life Ghost in the Shell
Review: Got the DVD of this today, and I must say its quite excellent.

I watched the film in the theater and thought it was okay, but I was mostly watching for the effects so I was rather bored in the middle.

This time, I knew what the effects were going to be (although they're still pretty mind-boggling), but it turns out that there's a pretty coherent story binding it all together. The main premise is one that's been done before (are these lives real, can we just trick our brains into believing it, etc.), but most movies that tend to present this are more muddled or more simplistic than the Matrix.

There are a couple of things that bother me. First, the DVD video quality seems to be a little noisy, although I may be dreaming that. More importantly, I'm still not convinced that Keanu is the greatest for this role (especially when he does his goofy kung fu poses and in the "I don't believe it" speech when he first sees the human farm). Finally, the central premise makes no sense to me: why don't the AIs just remove the matrix and make sure the humans they're farming are never sentient?

Overall, entertaining, visually mind-blowing, and somewhat thought provoking, and wrapped up with lots o extra features for DVD people (and for the price of an audio CD). Highly recommended.
