Review: A 1928 science-fiction/fairy-tale, dear to generations of Russians, was brought with loving care to their cinemas in 1961 and attracted lines of adoring fans, which spanned blocks at the box offices.

More than 4 decades later, the Russian Cinema Council through Image Entertainment, presents a DVD so stunning in color, clarity and crisp stereophonic sound that you can't help but beileve this is what it was like on the big screen!

I recommend this very highly for what it is; a sensitive love story with many twists and complex characters. Don't be misled by the title, this is not a Russian Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Praise RUSCICO for a dvd (great extras included) made with the same great care that was used in the making of the film.

Review: I read the novel twice in elementary school. Now I own the DVD yet I only saw the movie once. Go figure.
