Summary: This is a weak movie with a few good action scenes...
Review: Somewhere I heard that this is supposed to be as good or better than the Matrix, nothing could be farther from the truth. The good...it has a few cool scenes like the car rides, spiders, computer displays, chase scenes...that is not enough to make a movie good, it needs something else...can Spielberg say "good story/plot?". Special effects are pretty good, but I have seen better. The bad...the plot is very dull and stupid. It is all about how one man trips out over and over and over and over about his missing/dead son that dissapeared 6 years ago. The other part of the plot is about who killed the mother of a super future seeing psychic. Someone frames him, he runs and that is when you get the good action scenes. It has lots of talking and it leads not to something grand but in the end it is just another "who done it" movie. Dont waste your money in the theaters like I did, just rent it...if you MUST see it in theaters PLEASE see the matinee...

Review: I just got back from seeing "Minority Report", and I hate to use this expression, but this movie rules! I clocked the run time at 150min including the credits, but I swear I never wanted it to end. I really don't want to give anything away. This movie is not really that "deep" --though don't get me wrong, it is profound-- so no one should should shy away from having to think too hard. And even if it isn't Spielberg's best movie--Spielberg could have directed "Seven Samarai and it wouldn't be his best--it is about as good a time I've had at the movies in a long time. Mark my words, this will get a Best Picture nomination. I really hope you, whoever you are, do yourself (and your family, if you've got one) the favor of seeing "Minority Report".

Review: Wow! I just got back from my first viewing of Steven Spielberg's new movie "Minority Report" and just let me tell you...it's better than the hyper. After the disappointment of AI, I was a little skeptical about this one...but after seeing it, I wonder how I could have doubted Spielberg? He brought us amazing movies, such as: Jaws, ET, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, and Saving Private Ryan (not to mention the Indiana Jones trilogy). And Minority report is just as good, if not BETTER, than some of those movies. It had action, it was intelligent, and it told a great story which is sure to open the minds of the people who have seen it.Tom Cruise stars as a cop in the precrime division in Washington D.C., 2054. The future of murders can be seen, and thus, prevented. Cruise's character believes in the system, until he sees his future...of him being the suspect. After this (And I do not want to spoil anything!) leads to great chase scenes and a few plot twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Nothing is as it seems in this movie, it was great. A sheer thrill and worth seeing again. If you haven't seen it, I high recommend seeing this gem.

Summary: GREAT....If you never read the original story.
Review: Why, why, why??? Why not use the plot from the short story in the movie?? Spielberg was "keeping it real"....real dumb. I guess we were not supposed to miss the original theme and plot of the book due to all the neat special effects. And the ending? Typical Spielberg - don't believe all the "dark atmosphere" hype, its a joke. Read the Philip K. Dick short story instead.

Summary: "Spielberg's best Action flick , no doubt!"
Review: This is a great movie , it has wonderful action scenes , and above all it is pure entertainment! Tom Cruise is at his best despite his earlier failures (Far and Away , Mission Imposible 2), and since Vanilla Sky he has made pretty decent films. It has an awesome plot line , however , there is one little thing that makes me mad about this movie. The girl who plays one of the clone people , has an annoying voice. Her screaming sounds like a cow being punched in the nuts! Besides that I think most people will find it quite entertaining. Starring: Tom Cruise ,Max von Sydow and Colin Farrel.

Review: Without giving away any of the plot to this film (as if there were one) liberal hollywood has come up with yet another example of its inability to come up with a creative ending to a film. Cruise has proven time and time again that when the weight of a film lies on his shoulders he simply can't bear it. With the exception of Samantha Morton who spends most of the film acting like an epileptic in a see-thru bodysuit. The remainder of the cast cast gives us such bad performances that even Cruise seems lifelike next to them. If you see this film, remember that in the year 2054, there are no computer networks, nobody changes the locks, and even three precognitive kids that can predict murder couldn't predict how terrible this film was going to be.

Summary: Only Slightly Better Than A.I.
Review: Wow, did I have high hopes for this one! It had a cool trailer (that was consistently shoved down moviegoers' throats over and over again), an excellent cast, over-the-top special effects, a seemingly awesome story, and a director who gave us some of the film industry's most beloved classics. Unfortunately, Steven hasn't been in "classic mode" since the spectacular "Saving Private Ryan" back in 1998. "A.I." was excedingly bland and convoluted, and, sadly, "Minority Report" has the same sour flavor. It doesn't start that way. In fact, the movie is pretty gripping for quite some time, despite its grotesque sense of humor (which has Tom Cruise diving to catch his own surgically removed eyeballs before they fall into a grating), but as it progresses, it gradually grinds to a halt - it's so subtle at first that it's hard to even realize. The ending, however, is predictable and unsatisfying, and the fairy tale nature of its conclusion does not mesh with the gritty tech noir thriller we've spent two and a half hours viewing. By the time the end credits appear, I was thoroughly disenchanted. This, like "A.I.", is an example of talent and hype gone painfully astray. "Windtalkers," "The Bourne Identity," and "The Sum of All Fears" are all lightyears ahead of this disappointing summer flick.

Summary: Screenplay sinks more than the rating here...
Review: ... So, what's wrong with this screenplay? In two words: redundant and predictable. This film just won't please those of us who are used to the best works of a writer like Mamet or anyone else who can still manage to surpise their audience. And if this weren't bad enough, this film uses one tired movie cliche after another. I won't spoil anything (you'll be doing that for yourself, as your brain figures out much too early what is going to happen next...drats). But the formula, and I do mean formula, goes something like this: introduce key plot element, repeat if necessary, but regardless, do it blatantly... so no one could possibly miss it... then follow fairly soon after with "voila" : key plot item "delivery." Ugh. A shame. An absolutely tremendous movie with an absolutely simpleton's script. Roger Ebert calls this film "a masterpiece." ... I'll add: ... only if you don't mind having pre-cog skills on par with certain cast members... lower your expectations (particularly from the heights of those Amazon 4-5 star reviews)... you'll thank me later. And, oh yeah... about those "product placements." This film must have set the new world's record for these gems. Reminded me of the send up ending to State and Main, except these annoying ads weren't for laughs... ugh.

Summary: Best Thriller so far this year
Review: I happened to see this movie right after I got out of school and I, with a friend, was planning to see another movie. But we got there quite late, and my friend wanted to see it. At first, I was relunctant to see it, since I thought it would just be one of those summer blockbusters made for undemanding audiences who'll gobble up anything with a mega famous actor and director. But my friend dragged me into it, and I ended up totally loving it. This was a great movie surpise for me. Tom Cruise was totally convincing as John Anderton, as a cop working for Precrime, an elite police department with such advanced technology that they can arrest any people that commit any crimes before they actually do it. They do this by using Precogs, 3 people that can see crimes before they actually happen. Yet, at the same time he is ridden with grief over the loss of his son Sean, and takes drugs to ease his pain. While working at Precrime, he is accused of shooting a total stranger Anderton has never seen in his life, and he sets out to prove his innocence. Thus he finds out about the Minority Report, which is when 1 Precog (usually the female) sees a crime differently than the other 2 Precogs. The Minority Report is destroyed because if people found out about it, they would see there was a major flaw in Precrime, and its creators didn't want that. Anderton sets out to find the Minority Report, and along the way find out some very disturbing things.
"Minority Report" is a movie with a lot of artful suspense in it, with many crazy twists that fire you up throughout the entire movie. It's a bit of a mind- bender, since it deals with one major controversial issue- the well-being and the safety of the population against an individual's right to freedom and privacy. It will keep you in suspense for the whole movie, unlike some action thrillers, which drag a little towards the end of the movie.At the end of the movie, you will find yourself totally surpised by the ending of the movie (though you won't be unhappy with it.) This is a must-see movie, and so much better than the usual [stuff] out there at this time of the year.
