Summary: minor adrenaline moments..
Review: Without Tom Cruise as the stellar role, I doubt if this film would have succeeded at the box office at all. The theory of preventive crime through three perpetually immersed clairvoyants who can predict the future is a dull concept. It would take an overhaul of the entire penal system to convict people based on intent alone. "Habeas Corpus" would be irrelevant because there is no body in the first place, ergo, no body, no crime.If the movie just focused on the matrix-like special effects and futuristic gadgets, then this movie would have been sci-fi classics in the tradition of Blade Runner and the 5th element. Instead, it laboriously went through some Spielberg sentimentalities of the son's holograms and nostalgic flashbacks that hardly changed the film's dark, predictable mood. Except for some adrenaline moments, ie. backpack rocket chase/escape, there was nothing much to keep me from stupor till the film's ending. Nonetheless, I still would look forward to its DVD release when you can skip to the nitty gritty scenes.

Summary: Bad Story!!
Review: Well, I don't know if I'm too picky or something. But, if it is not a bad story, nor the writer and director haven't seen the movie like "Enemy of the State" and "A.I." (Well, I bet Mr.Spielberg has seen it!), then I have to say that the living of people in 2054 is SO INCONVINIENT!! First of all, there is no satellite to help them? Wow, in fact, I remember there is an ex-CIA once said the technologies used in "Enemy of the State" to track down people is so out-of-date. Then how come detectives have to use even worse methods in 2054? Second, they have no LAN!! (Not to speak W-LAN!) They have to download files into a glass-like, very heavy, need-to-handle-with-both-hands disk from 1 computer and insert to another computer. Wow! How poor they are! I can not imagine my life without a LAN! Third, they got no robot to assist them! That's really miserable! Actually, from BT Exact's Tech Timeline, when the year 2030 comes, robots will be both physically and mentally superior to humans. So, how come there are no robot in 2054? Maybe they are too smart so human decide to eliminate them, huh? Anywayz, there are still many of them. And that's why I think the STORY IS JUST BAD! Not presuative at all!

Summary: "You must [see] the Minority Report!"
Review: That happened to be a slightly edited quote from "Minority Report" This movie is excellent. It grabs you from the very beginning, as you view a murder and see one of the Pre-cogs lifting up out of the water and muttering, "...Mur-der..." You probably know the plot by now, and if you don't, don't expect me to tell you. That was the only bad thing about this movie, the fact that you knew the whole she-bang before you see it. Or you THINK you know it. There is a great plot twist towards the end that I wouldn't even think about telling you. Be warned, this isn't a little kid's movie. Though there will surely be lots of action figures and video games, you probably will want to drop your little ones off with the babysitter. The movie actually might have been rated 'R', but big budget movies get a tad lower ratings to make sure there's a bigger audience so the movie will earn more at the box office than it cost to produce. The movie is, as you could deduce from what I've said, action-packed and actually quite scary. This movie has great sets, from newspapers with moving images to billboards that recoginze you. And the cars, they are fantastic. Don't be surprised if you see a famliar car at your Lexus dealer in the future--the red Lexus Cruise drives in the movie wil be manufactured. I would reccomend this movie strongly for its great depiction of the future, unparalleled plot, stunning visuals, and, of course, the ac-teeohn. And if you're squeamish, you might consider bringing a barf bag. Just a little heads-up.

Summary: Disappointing film
Review: When I saw the trailer I thought it was going to be a cool film. Unfortunately I was let down. The visuals in this film are very good but the plot is very dark. I expected some dark moments but some scenes I think are just put in for shock value. One example I will give and not too give too much away is dealing with Tom Cruise's eye balls. That whole surgery scene is gross. There was a lot of small moments that were just weird.
The acting from Cruise was good. I think he does a fine job and the other members of the cast also good but you don't really see much of them. If you are into the dark future stuff then this film will be fine. Just was not my cup of tea.

Summary: THE BEST FILM THAT I'VE EVER SEEN!!
Review: "Minority Report" is the best film that I've ever seen. It's Spielberg at his VERY best. Tom Cruise gives the performance of his career. It's loaded with special effects that will blow your mind and it has a story that will challenge your mind, as it never once gets dull. This is the film of the year, look for this film at Oscar time. I will definitely recommend this film to anyone who loves films, you dont have to be a Spielberg/Cruise fan to love this film. SEE THIS MOVIE!!!

Summary: Better than Star Wars...Better than Spiderman
Review: Everyone's said the Spiderman is the best movie of the year and I agreed w/ them until I saw Minority Report. While I am a true Star Wars fan I must admit, they overloaded on special effects just a wee bit. Spiderman overloaded just a wee bit on the romace between Peter and MJ. And while they're both great movies and I'm definitly going to by them on DVD when they come out I felt there was something missing in both of them until I saw in Minority Report. Minority Report is everything you could ever want in a movie. And I really mean it this time. It's not overloaded w/ special effects but the special effects it does contain are dazzling and realistic. The plot is soo thick and deep it'll keep u on the edge of your seat. There's a million places in the movie where I thought," Well, this is the end", but it kept going. The plot got thicker and deeper and juicier every second. And it kept getting better until the end. I just didn't like the last scene of the movie. It was OK but that's my opinion. It takes place 50 years from now and much of the technolgy could very possible take place when we reach 2050. An amazing movie. The best movie i've seen this summer and probably one of the best movies i've ever seen. Not for kids though. This is 10 times more PG-13 than Spiderman. Spiderman must have been PG-13 for MJ's wet dress but Minority Report is darker and deeper and most young youth wouldn't be able to understand the plot. Not only that the first scene is very bloody and the eye operation is just gross so keep those things in mind before you take your kid. But whatever movie u see this summmer, make sure Minority Report is one of them.

Summary: Now THIS is Tom Cruise's best performance of recent years!
Review: When you combine the talents of superstar Tom Cruise ("Vanilla Sky", "Top Gun") and director Steven Spielberg ("A.I.", "Jurassic Park"), there's nothing that can stop them from bringing a great film to the big screen, and "Minority Report" is no exception whatsoever! I have seen this film twice at the theater and I can't get enough of it! We have seen Spielberg give us some extraordinary classics, such as "Jaws", "E.T.", the "Indiana Jones" films, and "Jurassic Park", and a questionable film such as "A.I. Artificial Intelligence". But now, Spielberg has certainly outdone himself with "Minority Report", a film loaded with action and thrills galore, powerful drama, and cutting edge special effects that only Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) can provide us with! And as far as the performance from Tom Cruise goes, it was a performance that couldn't be better! Possibly the best Cruise performance since the "Mission: Impossible" films! "Minority Report" takes place in Washington, DC in the year 2054. There is a new brand of law enforcement called the Department of Precrime. Precrime uses psychics called "Pre-Cogs" to help the officers see the perpetrator committing his/her crime and to stop them before it is actually committed. As for Precrime chief John Anderton (Cruise), he is among those that believes in this system being perfect and that it is never wrong...until now! Shockingly, as it turns out, Anderton is being set up for a murder that he didn't even commit! And so begins an action-packed journey as Anderton races against time to clear his name, reclaim his life, and to find out who framed him and why. In closing, "Minority Report" not only has an outstanding performance from Tom Cruise, but an impressive supporting cast including Max Von Sydow ("Judge Dredd"), Colin Farrell ("Hart's War", "American Outlaws"), Samantha Morton ("Sweet and Lowdown"), Kathryn Morris ("The Contender"), Neal McDonough ("Star Trek: First Contact"), Tim Blake Nelson ("O Brother, Where Art Thou"), Jessica Capshaw ("Valentine"), Patrick Kilpatrick ("Free Willy 3"), and Peter Stormare ("Armageddon"). "Minority Report" is, without a doubt, one of the absolute best sci-fi action thrillers ever made since "Blade Runner". This is an absolute DVD must-own to any Steven Spielberg or Tom Cruise collection!

Summary: minority report rocks!
Review: first, i have to come clean. after watching artificial intelligence last summer, i thought i couldn't muster another sci-fi flick from spielberg. i was one of those people who expected too much from a.i. ...well, too bad. a.i. doesn't quite deliver, and i wonder what happened to the sci-fi master that is spielberg. enter minority report. although i enjoyed spider-man and atoc immensely, i'd have to say this is the real summer blockbuster of the year. it was great!. the film reminded me of those noir films i used to watch last semester, but with added sci-fi elements. it was filled with such charm and thrill and kinetic energy, and i sat for 145 minutes, silently expressing my gratitude to mr. spielberg. a magnificent showcase!

Summary: Spielberg Hits and Misses
Review: Minority Report on the surface has plenty of flash and dazzle. The plot itself is worthy of entry into the blockbuster summer arena. A complicated science fiction premise on the question "What if we could stop a criminal from committing murder BEFORE it happens?". This leads to the moral dilema of presumed guilt, conviction and punishment BEFORE the crime has been committed. And,as with all supposed failsafe systems, the human element of corruptibility rears it's ugly head. The first half of the movie is a jarring conglomeration of visual images that does little to advance the plot and actually tend to slow the movie down by their flashy distracting qualities. Too many scenes are there just for show and add little to the serious tone of the storyline. There are heavy handed action sequences taken straight from the Indiana Jones movies so improbable for this type of movie it takes the viewer away from the seriousness of the subject matter. The unlikely special effects hi-jinks remind the viewer this could never happen in real life which is the opposite of the intent to present the story as all too possible. The movie eventually settles down from it's high gloss activity level and becomes the psychological sci fi thriller it promised to be. Riveting in it's twists and turns taking the characters toward a dynamic resolution. Each character is given enough screen presence to give the audience a good hint into their motivations. The second half is exactly what we hoped the entire movie would be, well paced, well directed and acted, it is a far cry from the first half. Spielberg uses a blue tinted washed out color scheme to give the movie the patented "futuristic look". Another distraction from the attempts to present this as a realistic view into that future. It gave the movie a comic book aura when it should have added to the realism. There was too much time spent on scenes with see through vague "heads up" computer displays that would make a real computer user crosseyed trying to make out the details. Tom Cruise gave a very credible performance but the first half of the movie did not present his character in a good light even when we learn of the past trauma of losing his child. His character appears to have succumbed to inherent weakness and was spiraling down into blackness. It is very difficult to like a character who is weak and has degraded himself. He eventually redeems himself in the second half of the movie but our initial dislike still lingers like a bad aftertaste. With all of it's problems, the movie is still worth viewing and once you get through the initial problems with the first half is a highly engrossing tale of an all too real possible future. The general audience will probably enjoy the movie for it's visual effects and gloss over the plot. Spielberg was very blatantly trying to appeal to both the low brow and the high brow audiences. It remains to be seen which audience he succeeded with.
