Summary: Dragonheart
Review: Directed by Rob Cohen (THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS, XXX) DRAGONHEART is both a solid addition to the fantasy genre amd a heart-warming family adventure that recalls the old-fashioned escapism of the 80s. Furthering the special effects done on JURASSIC PARK, the ancient philisophical dragon Draco (Voiced by Sean Connery) is one of the most amazing and realisatic interactive CG creations of recent years. However Connery's excellent Draco overshadows the rest of the casts' performances, which are mediocre to begin with, except for the always brilliant Pete Postilwaithe as a monk scribe. It's not to say that Dennis Quaid isn't good, he delivers some humerous lines and is a strong character considering he's acting next to nothing, but the dragon effects, like the ones in Jurassic, are the main feature, leaving little in the way for character development. That said, there is a good sense of the fun that runs through the film's story, and David Thewlis makes an excellent villian as the tyrant king Einon, who betrays the trust that Draco swore him to uphold when he saved his life by giving King Einon half his heart. Randy Edelman's memorable flighty score adds a nice layer of fun and Cohen's direction gives both humour and gravitas. While it's not perfect, it's still good fun, and a nice reminder that movies don't need a overly-complex-plot to satisfy the audience, simply a sense of wonder.

Summary: One of the best fantasy films of recent years!
Review: In 1996, a fantasy film by the name of "Dragonheart" hit theaters and didn't really garner much at the box-office. Quite a shame, because this movie is quite a good one. "Dragonheart" took place during medieval times in England with a story about a bloodthirsty king's son's (David Thewlis) pact with a dragon to live with the half of the dragon's heart. The dragon, Draco (Sean Connery's voice), later befriends Bowen (Dennis Quaid), Einon's mentor, after they realize Einon has the same treachorous blood of his father's.The acting is quite good in the film, especially Quaid and Pete Postlethwaite as Gilbert (he's a poet and a monk, and he gets the best lines). Julie Christie plays Einon's mother and she does a decent job. The only one I can detract is Dina Meyer's and considering her character's father is murdered by the evil king, I expected a more angst-filled performance. Unfortunately, she plays the role rather blandly and it's quite a shame; she was excellent in "Starship Troopers" (one year later) and very good in her small role in "Star Trek Nemesis." Oh well, onto the other good stuff... The dragon effects were VERY WELL DONE and detailed, and it's not surprising that one of the head dragon creators (Phil Tippett) from 1981's "Dragonslayer" is involved. Sean Connery gives the character much personality and I'd place him #2 in the best lines category for this film (as I mentioned above, Gilbert has most of the best). The music was composed by Randy Edelman, a prolific composer of notable films including "Kindergarten Cop," "The Last of the Mohicans," and the brilliant "Gettysburg," among many other films. The music is superb. On a closing note, I'd say for recent years, this is an awesome film. It may not be academy award winning material, but it's visual grandness for the medieval period and it's overall great sense of fun, it's a winner. It almost feels like those old Indiana Jones/Romancing the Stone/Back to the Future/etc. films in which a movie is content on being fun, whether or not a lot of brainpower is involved. A good film, excellently directed by Rob Cohen ("Fast and the Furious").

This is a brilliant movie, the story and the acting was beautiful and stunning!
I'd recommend this to everyone because I feel that it's that good!
However, if you'd like to read how it was supposed to be, I'd highly recommend that you read the novel of the same title based on the original screenplay. It takes the story to a whole new level, bringing more to the story and a slightly darker tone to it as well!

Summary: The Best Dragon Movie EVER!!!
Review: I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! It is one of the best ever!!! It shows dragons the way I think dragons should be shown: as good guys, with feelings and a personality, not the way some movies show dragons as mindless, heartless murdering beasts. Summary: A knight of the Old Code named Bowen has sworn himself to hunting down and killing every dragon in the world. The reason: his apprentice, Prince Enion, was badly wounded when the villagers revolted against his father, the King. The Queen took the prince to a dragon that lived nearby and the dragon saved him by giving the boy half of his heart. Soon after, the ex-prince became the King and began to forget everything Bowen taught him. Bowen, thinking it was the dragon's heart that corrupted Enion, vows to kill all dragons. 12 years later: Bowen comes across a dragon who claims to be the last dragon. After a endless fight, the knight and dragon form a truce. After their schemeing makes them a lot of $, Bowen and the dragon, who Bowen named Draco, meet a villager named Kara, who wants to lead a revolt against Enion. With the help of Bowen and Draco, she is able to get villagers to join their cause. As the fight begins, Draco is captured. Now Bowen must find a way to rescue his dragon friend and somehow kill Enion. But... what will the knight of the Old Code do when he finds out that there is a terrible and deadly connection between Draco and Enion? What will Bowen do when he finds out that the only way to end Enion's terrible ways once and for all is to... I love how the director added in the parts of light humor along with action and slight plot twists which all add up to a slightly surprise ending. The end (which I wont give away) is so sad that I always get teary eyed no matter how many times I watch it. Bring lots of tissues to this movie. If you like dragons, then you will LOVE this movie!!! I can promise you!!!

Summary: A genuine classic in composite digital 3D animation
Review: If you have enjoyed Gollum in the epic Lord of the Rings movie series, you must see this. This is one of the most successful early attempts at including digital 3D animation in live action features. You either love or hate the story, cast and characters. I am a big fan of all three. It is a fun and heart warming movie.

Review: DragonHeart is a awesome movie! I first saw this film when I was on summer vacation-and I saw it in the theatre like 4 times! DragonHeart is about a guy who is about to be king-but he is wounded and his mother asks a dragon to save him-taking pity on the guy the dragon gives him half his heart-telling the guy that he must rule with honesty. But when the guy becomes a king-he treats everyone cruelly-and
kills anyone he doesnt like! So steps in this dragonslayer who becomes friends with the last dragon-who he names Draco-after the group of stars in the sky shaped like a dragon! I wanna buy this dvd-to see how Draco looks! It was pretty sad when the dragon dies in the end-but it was the only way the kings evil would be destroyed! You will never win unless Einons evil is destroyed-and to do that you must destroy me! I am the last one! I love dragons-they are not evil like everyone thinks they are-
they are just misunderstood creatures who hide and lurk in caves simply because they are different! When I looked at the stars one night-I swear-it was in the shape of Draco! There are alot of shapes like that in the sky-there must be a dragons heaven! Why must you knight errands out to make a name for yourself-always pick on us dragons? Your one who kills dragons for money?! No animal should be killed for money! It just simply is very wrong!

Summary: Decent, not good
Review: I didn't enjoy this at all the first few times I saw this. Although I like Quaid and Connery, their performances (really, the way the characters were written) were cheesy and overdone. The plot was bad and predictable, but the effects, namely Draco, were well done. the only reason I've watched this more than once is Jason Isaacs. His performance as Lord Felton, though forgettable due to the extremely small role of the character who could really be left out, is amazing. I didn't recognize him until I knew that he was in it, and it is totally different from any of his other roles. He's pathetic really, with the high voice, sleazy smile, and general creepiness. If you want to see a brilliant performance, watch for Isaacs-he provides the only grade A character.

~ Draconis Blackthorne. First of all, I will begin by saying that "Draco" is awesome. The computer graphics of the Infernal Machine truly breathes LIFE into this most magnificent dragon. However, animation of this style & callibre clashes with the personality ascribed to this character. There is an incongruency between the wonderous spectacle of the creature, & the rather goofball & inappropriate sense of humor. Plus, the voice leaves much to be desired as well. It simply sounds too "human". A better depiction could have created, had the dragon spoke telepathically, with an echoing voice, thus preserving the awe & the fearsomeness. The mismatched personality is the major factor that prevents this movie from becoming a classic. The director should have taken lessons from DRAGONSLAYER, & studying the marvellous dragon therein. Compared to THAT dragon, this one's demeanour is that of a puppy's. Now, if the two could be combined, then THERE you would have something TRULY remarkable! Besides the disturbingly dissilusioning character miss, which is comparitavely akin to hearing a "meow" coming out from a pitbull, there's the coitus interruptus mentalis of many of the scenes. That is, some of the more impressive events & astonishing visuals are cut short, just as the heart begins to soar. One is left with mouth agape, as the next scene jumps in before its time. Quite frustrating. The anti-hero is pathetic. Basically, a zit on two legs, who is not quite cruel enough, dynamic enough, creative enough, aesthetic enough. Although the all-white attire is appropriate, in this case. One particularly annoying storyline in the movie, deals with Draco & the dragonhunter making a pact with eachother, to make money. They scam villagers {which is fine by Me}, by faking his death, as the dragonhunter collects treasure & fame. One would naturally think, that if two foes came together, after one has killed off the others ENTIRE race, that the fury of revenge would predominate. But after a mere scuffle, in which the dragonhunter gets comically stuck in the dragon's mouth, they strike the ridiculous deal, & it's all "forgive & forget" after that. What infuriating nonsense! The battle should have been to the death! Unfortunately, Dragonheart is disappointing. I sympathize with all you fantasy-adventure enthusiasts, for such Am I too. This movie is overrated. But if you wish to observe where new computer graphics technology ig going, this, along with Jurassic Park, are the flicks to pick. Also disappointing, I must say, is the lack of maidens. The one that is there, however, did not reveal any cleavage, so one's more epicurian interests were left unstimulated. For this could have made for a more interesting movie. It could have made up for the other deficiencies, instead of becominf a deficiency itself. Indeed, an "R" rating could have done wonders for this movie. If you wish to see a truly GREAT dragon movie, rent DRAGONSLAYER. Here's a well-rounded movie with perfect persective, incredible special effects, bewitching panoramas, wonderful aesthetics, many pretty damsels, a fantastic dragon, an omnipotent Wizard, a likeable, though sometimes annoying apprentice, & a solid, highly Imaginative plot. DRAGONSLAYER fills the gaps that Dragonheart leaves open. Perhaps a better dragon movie with a Draco-esque dragon will be made. If so, that would be truly special! "Dragon, dragon, o` shiny scale

Incredible graphics, good storyline, good actors (except for the lack of British accents, but I don't really care at all) and I read another review where the heading is "I Want A Pet Draco". Heh, I agree, Draco is a awsome and would be great if he were real =D Oh, and one character in the movie (brother Gilbert) is a hilarious Bad A

Summary: This Was Great !
Review: Dragonheart was a great movie. I'd like to have it (I only just borrowed it from a friend). Dennis Quaid did good and so did Dina Meyers, but as always, Sean Connery is IT! He's the top dog. He made it the great movie that it is! He's my favorite actor and I recommend all his movies, espcially Entrapment and The Hunt For Red October.
King Einon was so evil and ugly and I wish Draco hadn't given him half of his heart. It was sooo sad that Draco dies, but all in all it was a great and FUNNY movie.
