Summary: Excellent Movie that deserves all the credit it's due!
Review: I saw this movie on TV when i was a kid, and loved it. I still do. Let all those who say it's 'campy', 'boring', 'slow', etc see it, because chances are they've never seen it before and are just jumping on the bandwagon of total squares.

Helen Slater's role as Supergirl is amoung her finest work, with 'The Legend of Billie Jean' coming a close second.

Supergirl : The Movie is a great addition to anyone's collection, and really does deserve all the credit which is long overdue.

Summary: TERRIBLY FLAWED, BUT ENTERTAINING
Review: "Supergirl" was an attempt of the Salkind's to spin off there wildly successful "Superman" series. The film wasn't very well received, and therefore no sequels resulted. In retrospect, the film's major flaw is it's lack of direction(Jeannot Szwarc was a hack), and the uniformly awful performances in the first half of the film. As the movie progresses, it actually get's better, and the climactic scenes in the Phantom Zone and Selina's fortress are actually exciting. The flying sequences are the best in the "Super" series next to the first "Superman" movie, and the effects are all quite good. The Anchor Bay video is actually a dreadful transfer, though I'm sure that this has more to do with source material than it does with thier efforts, as they are usually very concerned with picture and sound quality. This has some added footage that was not in the original American release print, and with one exception(Nigel's blonde girlfriend should have stayed on the cutting room floor), they improve the film. Not great, but certainly interesting. A total widescreen remaster on DVD with Dolby Digital sound would likely improve things even more; are you listening, Anchor Bay?

Summary: I love this movie, it ROCKS!!!
Review: As I stated above, I LOVE THIS MOVIE!! This movie came out when I was 7 years old, and I've been looking for it for years ever since. Helen Slater was perfectly cast as Supergirl, and man I wish I looked like her. I will admit some scenes are kinda cheezy, but overall the movie is one that should go down as a classic.

Summary: Helen Slater was born to be Supergirl in OK movie.
Review: Supergirl is an OK, average movie but obviously not quite up there to the quality excellence of the first two Christopher Reeve Superman movies. Helen Slater was perfectly casted in the lead role of Supergirl but sadly the film's story comes out sort of bland. Had there been a better story made for this film, Supergirl could have been more successful.

The film's special FX are are well done in some scenes. I personally think that Supergirl had some very unique flying sequences that you never saw in the Christopher Reeve Superman films. Argo City bears no design/look or feel of Krypton from the Superman movies as well. Argo City just looked too 1980ish, just a dreadful design look. Hardly a place one would choose to live on. I still love Helen Slater's performance. Supergirl's still an enjoyable film to watch. Slater's performance alone was what served the film justice. The rest of the cast was OK, although Faye Dunaway's villainous Selena was a little overboard in some moments.

Supergirl was produced by Alexander & Ilya Salkind, the producers of Superman I, II, and III (they were not involved with 1987's "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace"). They would later go on to produce the successful half hour, live action syndicated TV series "The Adventures of Superboy" from 1988-1992.

Summary: Women are much better heros than men!
Review: Supergirl is a much better superhero than superman because a man who is strong is nothing more than a stronger man. A beatyfull girl (like Helen Slater) has all the good parts of being a women and are better than men in every way. Women are both smarter, more flexible and has even stronger sense than men. A girl can seduce a man very easy and things like that is even as good as the superpowers. It's a shame they not gonna make a remake of this and going to make a remake of Superman so all I can do right now is hope they are going to skip Batman 5 and do a movie about Batgirl insteadt. I think many people would agree with me.

Summary: Lighten Up! It's A Comic Strip!
Review: It's not a docu-drama, it's a comic strip! It's supposed to be fun-fantasy and who cares if there's holes in the plot and impossible acts occur? (e.g. wasn't Krypton blown apart years ago when Kal-El/Superman left it as an infant? Que?? And how did Kara acquire that looks-superb-on-her super-costume while traveling in her capsule?) Who expects believability anyway? Enjoy what's there. Helen Slater is a drop-dead gorgeous Supergirl and plays the fantastical part with dignity and the suitable naivete expected of an alien visitor. She does a marvelous job with it. And yes, Faye Dunaway overacts; I would think her part in such a flick required a large helping of campy emoting as the powerful but somewhat klutzy witch Selena. A lot of the fun was in the interaction between the quixotic Selena and her Sancho Panza-like sidekick Bianca (Brenda Vaccaro, herself no slouch at ironic comedy). Selena constantly pushing her new-found powers beyond her own abilities to control, landing the two in mess after tangled mess, accompanied by Bianca's timely snide cynicisms. You'll love Helen Slater, and you'll love to hate Dunaway & Vaccaro. It's fun. It's fantasy. Buy it, you'll end up watching it over and over.

Summary: A great film
Review: Enough comparing this movie to the Superman films. It was produced by the same people (Alexander and Ilya Salkind), but the similarites only go that far. If you consider Supergirl by itself, it is a great movie. The story isn't the best it could've been, but it's altogether very enjoyable. Helen Slater is very convincing as Supergirl. She plays the character exactly the way Supergirl should be done. The special effects are great, especially the flight scenes. And of course, Jerry Goldsmith's score is incredible! If you're not a film critic and just want a movie you can enjoy, Supergirl is for you.

Summary: This is a great movie, if you like to see the girl kickbutt!
Review: I've watched "Supergirl" since I was a child. If someone was to watch it that didn't watch it as a child , they would probably think that it was stupid as I'm sure this Mr. Bishop does. But since I've grown up watching it, I love it. If you like superhero movies, why not give this one a try. It isn't a oscar-worthy film or as good as one of the Superman movies, but it's still good. And if you are like me, and like to see the girl kick-butt such as Batgirl, She-Ra etc.. than you will enjoy this movie. Oh, and Mr. Bishop, it is "Wannabe", not want-a-be. Haven't you heard the Spice Girls song?

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Dull Superhero Movie Want-a-be!
Review: Whatever is all I have to say about this stupidly made movie. Flat story with cardboard characters. This movie stunk!
