Summary: Harry Potter - The greatest movie of all time?
Review: Well, not really. Possibly the biggest movie event of the millenium, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone lives up to the expectations of MOST of the readers, with a few exceptions. If anybody doesn't know, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is about a boy who finds out on his eleventh birthday that he is the descendant of two powerful wizards and that he possesses unique powers of his own, and to fulfill his destiny at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It seems a bit Star Wars-ish, right? However, the story goes beyond that. Chris Colombus definitely did find the best British actors. Harry is played by the extremely well look-alike, Daniel Radcliffe, the hilarious freckled Ron Weasley by Rupert Grint and cute Emma Watson to play the smart and clever Hermione Granger. The kids surprisingly hold up a good performance, being with little acting experience. The adults do an excellent performance also. From the strict and clever Minerva McGonagall by Maggie Smith to Richard Harris' kind and gently Albus Dumbledore. By far, the best performance was Snape, played by the dark and moody Alan Rickman. An excellent performance he had. The most important part of this movie is the way it captures the heart and soul of the book. Surprisingly, it succeeds very well. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is definitely not supposed to be a dark, moody flick but it has just enough the remain faithful. It might be a little scary for kids under 7 but a lot of people above that age won't be frightened. And most of the events of the book are in there. One major plot scene was left out for time but the movie would've been better with it in there. From the troll to the Forbidden Forest, the movie exceeds with almost everything in the book. The CGI effects were great but some of them were a bit...cheesy. You could defenitely see CGI effects in The Quidditch Match. Fluffy and Firenze the Centuar were the ones that needed some work as with Voldemort. Overall, they're decent. Lastly, John William's score. This is a nice refresh of John's basic work, with great use of bells and chimes. Though, Harry's Theme could've been toned out of it a bit. It gets a bit tiring to hear it repeated occasionally. The score wasn't original but it did set the mood. Overall, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a definite must see. It might not be the greatest, but its a refreshing film from everyday life. There could be some improvements, but the whole thing really blew me away.

Summary: Disappointment...
Review: I'm quite a fan of the Harry Potter books and was really excited to see the film. However, I did not fully enjoy it due to the fact that the film missed out on many several important scenes.I think that the movie was too abitious. I hope that the next one will be better.

Summary: Harry Potter - Always The Best
Review: Harry Potter is, as we will all know if viewing this, quite the phenomenon, and the film did absolutely nothing to downplay it. Not that it should have! It was a positively brilliant adaptation to the book [Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone/Philosopher's Stone], and as one person said, it went quickly enough not to bore those of us who have read the book. [For me that would be around 17 times]. The Quidditch match was...well...the most BRILLIANT bit of screenplay I have seen, EVER, I couldn't BELIEVE how cool that was! :] The Giant Chess Game was spectacular as well! Everything really was, in essence, positively marvellous, and those that DIDN'T enjoy it probably haven't read the books or don't really have a hankering for Harry Potter like us hopeless HP Fans do. :] I cannot WAIT until the release of the DVD/Video, I saw the film seven times in the cinema and look forward with great gusto to the release of the film. Especially the extra added features!! The kids, yea, they did great, especially considering it was basically their first time really having a main role [the exception being Daniel Radcliffe; he played David Copperfield when he was a good deal younger, but really, it doesn't carry over if you know what I mean, as for Emma Watson (III) and Rupert Grint, it was their first time EVER acting in a film and if you ask me they did absolutely SMASHINGLY well]. Anyway, I would COMPLETELY recommend the film to ANYONE, of ANY age, ANY race, etc etc, because the magic of Harry Potter isn't just for a certain age group...it's for everyone...and gives us all a bit of hope, it really, truly does. :]

Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Review: This movie is, quite simply, the best adaptation of a book that i have ever seen. Though my children, at eighteen months and three, are too young for the books, I cannot wait to buy the video next month to watch with them. The casting of the film was perfect, the characters every bit as lovable as in my imagination. The best thing I can say about this movie is that, after forcing my very reluctant husband, (who NEVER reads anything that doesn't feature a mountainbike on the cover) to watch the movie, he purchased and listened to the audio CDs for the remaining books in his car! This film is MAGIC, in more ways than one! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL AGES.

Summary: The "Hype about Harry" is absolutely true!
Review: I'm getting really sick of people's opinions being based on the opinions of the media! The film is excellent, and i'm not saying this because i am caught up in the "Hype about Harry", i'm saying this because it's absolutely true. It has amazing special effects, and the actors really bring out the full potential of each character! It's a really great movie, and I know it would be a great addition to your shelf.

Summary: A Classic Movie For ALL!
Review: When I first read the book, I was blown away and read all the other books in the series. (so far) When I heard there was going to be a movie, I couldn't wait until It's release date. Then when I was at school on the day of the movie, I looked at the clock at least 1,000 times. After I saw the movie I felt like I spent one of the greates 2 and a half hours of my life! If your looking for a family/action movie, this is one you don't want to miss!

Summary: THE BEST THING YOU CAN GET
Review: Harry Potter is the best way to start your summer break! If your a girl or boy. It's a movie full of excitement, funny things and sadness if you don't get you'll be sad. Its PG so I think under five yrs. would not be good. Other wise its the best thing in the world. I'm positive, it's a family movie in the best sort.

Summary: "I shouldn't have told you that..."
Review: Harry Potter lives in #4 Privet Drive under the stairs. He lives with his Aunt and Uncle and he's cousin. After going to the zoo, Harry gets into trouble with Uncle Vernon and Vernon locks Harry in his room. Soon after that, letters for Harry are arriving through the door, down the chimney and even in a pack of eggs (which is a deleted scence on Disc 2). Soon, Harry learns he is in fact a wizard, and his parents were wizards. He goes to Hogwarts to learn magic. At Hogwarts, Harry meets some friends, and some enemies. The Quidditch game is an impressive scence. Hagrid keeps repeating "I shuldn't have told you that" whenever he gives away something important.
Disc Two contains a tour of Hogwarts, explains the game of Quidditch, Interviews with the Moviemakers, classrooms, library, and other stuff. To unlock the deleted scences on Disc 2, you have to get a wand from Diagon Alley first. To get to Fluffy, go to the "Classrooms" menu. Everything is clickable in this menu. Good luck.

Summary: Harry Potter is my hero
Review: I read all of the Harry Potter books and enjoyed them all emmensely. I was very scared that the movie wouldn't be able to live up to The Sorcerer's Stone, so I was skeptical about going to see it....
But, finally I caved, and I am so glad that I did because the movie was just as enchanting as the book itself...
It was so true to the book I couldn't believe it...
Such a great movie...
