Summary: A word of praise for my favorite movie . . .
Review: No matter what anyone thinks of this movie, it's still my all-time favorite. The Shadow is full of action, has great special effects, a really cool soundtrack, and very talented actors. My personal favorite part is when The Shadow is running up the stairs in the hotel and his huge shadow (the only thing he can never hide) is flaring out behind him. Great scene! I never get tired of it. Watch it! You won't regret it! (hopefully . . . )

Summary: Superb Pulp Adventure!
Review: A wonderful blending of the pulp and radio versions of the Master of Darkness, with a few extras thrown in. The actors are excellent, especially Lone and Miller, the settings and special effects a knock-out. Grand styling and scoring and just loads of fun. I have watched it over and over.

Summary: A 'Darn' Fine film!
Review: As far as Sci-fi/Comic book remakes go this is one of the greats! Alec Baldwin does a fantastic job as the Title role and the visual effects are...pretty good for the time!

all in all a very fine film, with some good ideas and well executed lines!...They need to shoot the lighting director though!

Summary: Not too bad
Review: There is only one reason why this movie is ignored. The Shadow is not as recognized like other comic book characters like Batman or Spawn. The action is fun and so is the storyline. Just make sure the character is well known before putting too much into it and wanting to make it a hit.

Summary: Great Audio, Poor Video
Review: This is a review more about the DVD transfer than the content.

The DTS audio is much better than the DD version. Cleaner and more dynamic sound (which is important for this movie). The video on the other hand, is full screen not anamorphic wide screen. The artifacts are very visible due to the dark screen and fast actions. It is really too bad Universal had done a great job makeing the DTS version available only to be let down by the poor video. I can not recommend it but if you can live with the poor full frame video, get the DTS version. It worth the extra money.

Summary: Alec Baldwin IS The Shadow
Review: What a great enjoyble film this is. I saw it in a multiplex in '92 and was amazed how well Alec Baldwin captured the essence of this wonderful character. When the video was released "to buy" I bought a copy for myself and a friend. This is a movie which I have watched time and time again and ALWAYS enjoy. The production design is fantastic, and Penelope Ann Miller is ooooh soooooo sexy. My only problem with the film is Tim Curry who seemed to be a bit over the top. I wish this film did better business, unlike Batman, it deserves a sequel.

Summary: Great movie
Review: This is one of the best super-hero movies ever made. Balwin is great as The Shadow. This movie has a little of everything: Action, adventure and even a little bit romance!

Summary: Best Superhero Movie Ever!!!!
Review: "The Shadow" is the best, most faithful adaptation of superhero-to-film ever made. Even the original "Batman," a great film, got some stuff wrong. But "The Shadow" scores on every level, from the effects to the set design, from the characters to Jerry Goldsmith's wonderful orchestral score. If only the DVD was in widescreen with some supplemental material, i.e.: trailer, production notes (there are none, despite them being mentioned up above), and perhaps an audio commentary by the director. But all-in-all, a great must-own movie for fans of The Shadow, old-fashioned matinee serials, and good movies in general. Sit back and enjoy!

Summary: A disappointment
Review: Yes, the photography and the sets are good. Since there are plenty of fine actors in this movie there are bound to be a few good moments, if only by accident. Is this movie faithful to the original series? Probably. Also, watch 'The Shadow' and at some point you will witness every one of the elements that go into a great production. Only just don't blink or you'll miss them.

The special effects, while sometimes technically well done, are uninspired and totally lacking in subtlety. For the most part the dialogue is witless and easily anticipated. The acting, done often in exaggerated theatrical style like a 1950's T.V serial, only serves to diminish the movie's credibility. The Shadow's diabolical laughter is so over done I cringed in my seat. The plot is nothing we haven't all seen done, and done better, dozens of times before.

Where 'The Shadow' passes as an acceptible commemoration of the original radio and pulp series it fails almost completely by contemporary production standards.

Summary: A few more scares would' ve helped.
Review: This movie has some fine moments, but it's not scary enough. -I know it's not a Horror film; but the eerie atmosphere of the museum scenes in the beginning is nice, and sadly never reached again. The cast is good, and it's only fitting that the great Joseph Maher is featured in those scenes; although the part should've been bigger. -After this, the movie becomes just another hazy cartoon with some disbelieving actors.
