Summary: Not as bad as critcs made it sound
Review: Wow, this movie sure was carved-up by critics. I was certainly glad I read the reviews on rottentomatoes.com, after I watched the movie.

The Adventures Of Pluto Nash is by no means the greatest film ever made. But it is good escapist fair for a Saturday night of entertainment. Murphy plays the title role of Pluto Nash, a bar owner on the moon in the year of 2087. Murphy has the hottest nightclub on the moon and is making a killing every night. So when gangsters come looking to buy it, he says no thanks. In response, the gangsters blow-up the place, putting Nash on the run, while also trying to figure out whom the unknown crime-lord behind the bombing is.

Murphy actually brings an affable charm to the role, he manages to not take things too seriously, as well as not sleep walk through the movie. He seems to understand he's not going for an Academy Award, but is playing a role that does have its demands in a story very similiar to Casablanca. Randy Quaid comes along for the ride as Nash's robot helper in a very unique role.

What makes the movie far more entertaining then critics have given it credit for is the use of the moon in the story. The location is not the centerpiece of the movie, but it is used very nicely to reel in the chase for Nash preventing it from becoming to over-bearing. After all, just how many places are there to go on the moon? It's also nice to see a summer release that is actually more character - then action - driven. While there is gun fights in Pluto Nash, most of the film centers on characters trying to piece-together a mystery.

Where the movie falls way off track is with a really weak ending. While it is surprising, let's just say not giving Murphy a quality bad guy to spar off with in the end, really hurts the movie. However up until then, Pluto Nash really didn't deserve to the carving it received.

Summary: A Real Good Movie
Review: I loved the movie. I thought it was funny and i loved the soundtrack.

Summary: Funnier than expected
Review: I'm going to start off by saying that I did think this movie was bad. I'm sure most people who saw it will agree. But I liked it because it wasn't trying to be anything else.

For being made so badly, the movie is much funnier than it has any right to be. Plus, it has a fabulous cast including Eddie Murphy (I Spy), Randy Quaid (Independence Day), Rasario Dawson (Men in Black 2), and Joe Pantoliano (The Matrix). Of course, Murphy is the character who generates most of the laughs, but surprisingly enough, Randy Quaid's robot character "Bruno" is hilarious as well.

Director Ron Underwood (City Slickers) doesn't really direct this movie well at all, especially seeing on how much money was invested in this movie. At least it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

BOTTOM LINE: People who thought this movie was a terribly unfunny movie need to lighten up. This movie wasn't really trying to be a thought-provoking comedy. Just a stupid action-comedy with some genuinely funny moments which it is able to come up with. (2.5 stars out of 5)

Summary: This movie is the best!!!
Review: I love this movie! It is filled with suspense around every corner. It takes place on the moon and there is a guy named Pluto Nash (that's who Eddie Murphy plays in the film) who owns the most popular club on the moon so these people want to buy it for millions of dollars and they say their boss will get angry if they don't buy it. That's all I'm telling and the rest has a LOT of action/adventure so if you don't like those kind of movies don't get this movie.

Summary: Not quite as awful as you've been led to believe
Review: PLUTO NASH is set on the moon in the year 2087. Pluto Nash (Eddie Murphy) is the owner of the moon's hippest nightclub who finds himself pitted against gangsters from rival digs who want to take over his business... as well as the entire moon. So with the help of his loyal robot Bruno (Randy Quaid) and sexy nightclub singer Dina Lake (Rosario Dawson)he sets out to defend his business and his planet.
Directed by Ron Underwood (TREMORS, CITY SLICKERS)this movie was Murphy's biggest Box Office bomb EVER(it was shelved for two years, so that ought to explain a lot). In fact in NZ the DVD release was delayed by two months so it could receive a theatrical run, which only lasted about two weeks with minimal screenings. That said, PLUTO NASH isn't as terrible as some critics would have you believe, but it still isn't very good either. The production design is pretty good. The movie also succeeds in wasting the talents of Pam Grier who plays Pluto's mother and John Cleese. When you see his thankless role here you wonder why he even bothered. Scariest of all is Hilary Clinton's face appearing on a million dollar bill. Oh well, at least it's not Tipper Gore. DVD extras include DVD ROM features as well as an awful R&B music video and a doco on the making of the film, deleted scenes and the movie's trailer.

Summary: Excellent movie -- why the biased reviews?
Review: I don't get it -- I found Pluto Nash to be well-made, original, and refreshing. And funny. I guess the folks writing the bad reviews must have seen some other flick. Basically, the studio decided to just write-off this movie and ended up doing nil for marketing. It's a shame to see such a neat idea derailed by marketing (or the lack thereof). This movie has the potential to be a cult classic, if folks would only get past the hype and sit down and watch.

Please give it a shot if you can find it. The story works and you'll find it to be worth your time.

Summary: NOT...BAD...AT...ALL!
Review: (...) "...Pluto Nash" has lots of action, great special effects, an all star cast and it's got its funny moments, too. What more should people expect? Perhaps it's because they're expecting a gut-buster of a comedy like many of Eddie Murphy's other movies. If you are expecting this to be a knee-slapper, then you won't like it either. But why should all of Eddie Murphy's movies have to be gut-busters? Many reviewers disliked his movie "Showtime", I admit it wasn't a knee-slapper, but it was a pretty good movie. "...Pluto Nash" has lots of action, great special effects, an all star cast and it's got its funny moments. What more should people expect? My only complaint is that the curse words and sexual content in it blown it for me. Why does Eddie Murphy still think it's cool to curse? I believe cursing shows stupidity and I know he's not stupid. Anyhow, He doesn't curse all that much in it but it only hurts a movie that could have been so much more enjoyable. If you only collect Oscar Award winning movies then this movie should never grace your very thin collection of movies. If you just like to watch movies then this one is a must rental, at least. If you're a die hard DVD collector then "THE ADVENTURES OF PLUTO NASH" is a must have. In my opinion...it's a very neat and nicely done action-packed sci-fi and a honor to have in my DVD collection! Summary: somewhere in between Space Truckers and MIIB is Pluto Nash
Review: It's a two or three star movie, but I enjoyed it so that's all that counts. It was a dumb movie, but entertaining. Need I go on? As for the production value; no complaints. It would be nice to see the "Sixth Element" or "Starship Troopers II", but I don't think I'm going to get my wish. So cheesy movies like this and Tremors III will do. You can tell their reach was further than their grasp and there is a little money thrown at the movie. The CGI is nice, acting was what you'd expect. I didn't belly laugh or anything but maybe a giggle. What else can I say?

As for everyone who hated Pluto Nash; what did you expect?

Summary: Out of this world!
Review: I was really looking forward to watching this movie. However, after reading all the reviews-mostly bad-I didn't have much hope for it. Thankfully it turned out to be a GREAT movie!!!

The Story
As you know it stars Eddie Murphy. He is the owner of a nightclub on the moon in the year 2087. Some goons try and buy his club and he doesn't want to sell. So-they try and kill him! Eddie has to find out who the bad guy is and stop him. He is accompanied by his robot body guard played by Randy Quaid who did a terrific job. If I hadn't known Randy was staring in the movie I wouldn't have been able to tell it was him! The ending is terrific-I never would have guessed that one!

The acting was good. The plot was good. The ending was good. The futuristic scenery and vehicles was good. It was an all around good movie! It was a little campy (but aren't all space movies) but a lot of fun just the same!

If you are considering this movie don't let the negative reviews disuade you from getting it. You WILL enjoy this movie!
