Rating: Summary: Arnold is back! A great (and hopefull) vision of the future! Review: I had heard bad things of this movie. I even saw it do poorly in the box offices. But that didn't let me down for being the person I am who does not take critics words seriously. I saw this movie with a friend who is very picky when it comes to good movies. All he could say after it was "Wow". He had loved it. More importantly, I loved it. Arnold is a great actor and he made this movie better then it could have been. This movie was very well made and I loved watching how this movie envisioned the future. It was very cool!! The story was great, the action was great, what else is there to say? A VERY ENTERTAINING MOVIE!!
Rating: Summary: this movie knows how to entertain Review: superstar arnold schwarzenegger stars as adam gibson, anace pilot in the very near future who is having a serious identity crisis. an evil corporation illigaly cloned him and now they are trying to kill him to hide the evidence. a lot of people don't like this movie. i happened to think that it was very good.rated pg-13 for strong action violence, and some strong language.
Rating: Summary: GOOD sci-fi/suspense movie! Review: This isn't just one of Arnold's movies that's just an excuse for violence, machine guns, and long shots of him without a shirt. No, this is up there with the "Terminator" series, "Conan the Barbarian", and "Kindergarten Cop". The idea of a secret group of renegades illegaly practicing cloning humans and replacing the real humans with the clones is just too scary! But never fear, Arnold Schwarzenegger is here! The plot is creative and original, the futuristic details are great (especially the cool helicopters, which transform into jets), and the acting is first class. My TV Guide gave this movie only two-and-a-half stars. That's ...(STUPID!)The special effects are good, two. It has a few twists here and there, and the ending, though weird, is so surprising it'll knock you speechless! A must-see for sci-fi buffs like me!
Rating: Summary: Half the Salary But Twice The Star? Review: ....I liked this film!!! I have always loved a good concept and this one tickled me in a way I probably haven't been since Back To The Future II. This film definitely came close. For my mind it was an intelligent, taught, exciting effects ride but above all else it captured my imagination. And that's not something that happens so much anymore. :-(
Rating: Summary: They picked the wrong man to clone. Review: Missed opportunities....that's what I thought after watching this movie. It was fun, flashy, exciting, with impressive visuals and special effects, but ultimately, it seemed hollow to me. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a Ahnold movie as much as the next guy, but I got the feeling that with a different star and a slight change in direction, this could have been an excellent thriller instead of a decent, yet empty, action movie. The plot of the movie focuses on the subject of human cloning, but only enough to move the action along. With a little more intelligence and a few less explosions, gun battles, and car chases, I feel we could have been treated to a movie on the same level as Minority Report, or Gattaca. Oh well.... Basically, the rundown on the movie is Arnold play Adam Gibson, a helicopter pilot who becomes entangled in a conspiracy after he finds out he's been cloned and his clone has taken over his life. As with so many movies in the past ten years or so, the entity behind the conspiracy is an evil corporation doing something they shouldn't be doing, and now they must kill Arnold so they can protect their secret. Arnold becomes hunted, and then, with the help of his clone, tried to turn the tables and expose the conspiracy. The concept of two Arnolds was pretty cool, but seemed more of a novelty than anything else. A great looking movie with lots of great scenery, excitement, and special effects, but ultimately a hollow one due to lack of character development and glazing over of the rather thorny issue that is the core of the movie. There are a number of special features, bios, trailers, production notes but if you want more in this respect, look for the 2 disc Special Edition. Oh yeah, thanks Columbia/Tristar for re-releasing the 2 disc special edition after I bought the original, single disc release, as I love shelling out money for the same movie twice if I want to get in on the extras not included in the initial release. Was this done purely out of greed, or did you 'all the sudden' find some extras you forgot to include on the original release? I get so tired of companies re-releasing movies every six months under the guise of 'Super Special Edition, Extreme Edition, Collector's Limited Edition'....So very lame.....
Rating: Summary: CLONEDELICIOUS Review: I can't speak for anyone else, but I LOVE CLONES!!! Ever since I was a little pea-sized embryo in my MUMMY'S TUMMY, I couldn't get enough clone action in my life! Thankfully, Arnold has tapped into this new genre of clone movies to grace us all with the most EPIC CLONE MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!! In 'The Sixth Day' Arnold plays a futuristic farmer who owns the last farm on earth. Danny Glover plays a greedy billionaire who wants to build a hotel on Arnold's plot of space wheat but Arnold has other plans. To make a long story short, Danny Glover eventually builds the hotel on the plot of space wheat and Arnold is forced to be the Bell Boy in the hotel due to a very complex court order. Towards the end of the movie, Arnold realizes that he has so much work to do moving everyone's space luggage to their rooms, that he clones himself to create a super army of Arnold Schwartzenegger bell boys! Well, you can imagine the hijinx that ensues after that, but there's one scene in particular that made me laugh involving an Arnold clone (or it may have been the REAL Arnold) and a tiger in the hotel that he's trying to hide from all the hotel guests. Funny funny stuff.
Rating: Summary: Arnie's Double the trouble. Review: The usual Arnie fare - lots of guns and everybody chasing after everybody else. Any serious debate about cloning goes out the window with the next stunt double who goes flying through one. Most unsettling of all is that we have Two Arnies acting in the same film (Was this classfied as a horror film?) That famous critic quote of some actress running a gammet of emotions from A to B in her performance, equally may apply to the two Arnies who stumble from A to B and then back to A!
Rating: Summary: Arnold branches out - falls out of tree Review: "The Last Action Hero" was a great study in what was wrong about Arnold breaking from type, and "True Lies" was a great study in what was so right about it. While the former was so clearly aimed at kids and families as to be somewhat unwatchable by adults, the latter was aimed at adults but done in a style that the whole family could follow and enjoy. "End of Days" was a great return for Arnold, faithful to his old style of action movie theatrics while delivering a decent plot and great special effects. While "6th Day" has some good effects of its own, sadly, it is another departure from type that falls flat on its face. Arnold's character is weak and uninteresting, the dialogue is poor, and the plot couldn't have more holes if a Terminator shot it up. One is definitely left feeling that Arnold's political aspirations have resulted in watered-down action films that lack any of the desireable qualities that made him popular to begin with. Action movie fans will be left wondering, "Where's the beef?" Those looking for more intricate plots and inspired dialogue will likewise be prompted to look elsewhere. In short, this is a movie which sadly will please nobody, leaving one to wonder why it was made in the first place.
Rating: Summary: Standard Action Movie with some intelligence. Review: I'm a big Arnold Schwarzenegger fan so when The 6th Day arrived in my local video store i immediatly picked it up. Now i know Arnold is getting too old for the action movies he was in during the 80's like predator and Commando but that doesn't mean he's lost his touch. He's just as good in this as all his older movies. This time the plot involves something that is really happening in our world and what would happen if it was in the hands of somebody who would abuse it or use as a means to kill or blackmail others. But when an assanation of an important person occurs, the corporation decides to cover it up by cloning the people killed. Unfortunaly the pilot who was supposed to fly the plane left to take care of his daughters dog. So Now there are two Adam Gibson's (Arnold Schwarzenegger) running around, and now the corporation is hunting them down to destroy either one or both of them. Arnold does a good job in this one, having more personality than his previous movie End of Days and is somewhat more intelligent rather than get a gun and start blowing things up, he builds homemade bombs and uses himself as a decoy. The special effects are the best i've ever seen in a movie, and the music beats great with the action. Although yes it's still not as good as Terminator 2 it's good entertainment all the same.
Rating: Summary: The next generation DVD is here Review: Everyone was so down on Arnold's first movie (End of days) since recovering from kidney problems. He was accused of rushing in and taking any part, regardless of the quality of the script. Well, I disagreed with the critics on "End of Days"; I thought the story was pretty good and it was a nice change to see him in the role of a vulnerable, fragile, average guy. The 6th Day puts Arnold back into a familiar character that we, the fans, are used to. He's back as the larger than life action hero! Performing death defying, super human feats and kicking everyone's butt along the way. This is the role that all Arnold fans (and critics for that matter) seem to be most comfortable seeing him in. That being said, I don't think this is a bad movie; on the contrary, I really liked this flick! When it come to this genre of movies, Arnold has a strangle hold on the industry. One quick note, If you look carefully, they use Arnold's stunt double allot in this movie...I guess he's not a 100% physically. Like most of my reviews, I won't describe the plot of the movie because you either read it before, or through one form or another, have been told the plot. What I will say about the movie is, the story has a great premise and touches on a current moral issue...Cloning, and the probably inevitable misuse of the technology. The movie has a nice flow to it; from beginning to end the story stays strong and keeps you hungry for the finality (that has a little twist to it). But what makes this a movie to buy, and not just rent, is the quality of the DVD. Along with Gladiator, The 6th day is a sign of the next generation of DVD's that are on the horizon; unbelievable audio and video that had little to no motion artifacts from the transfer! This movie is a dream for Home Theater enthusiasts!
