Summary: What happened to the last 2 hours!
Review: This film was one of the best sci-fi genre films I've ever seen, capturing the essence of the aliens series as well as the playout of a Stephen King novel (Storm Of The Century comes to mind here). I walked into this movie blind, watching it for the first time in a hotel room at a conference in Phoenix. I had never even heard of the film before. As stated in a previous review, this will (due to marketing or other reasons) go down as one of the most underappreciated films of the year. A definite addition to my DVD collection. This film left movies like "Mimic" and "The Relic" in the dust as sci-fi horror goes and the monsters in this film seemed as mysterious and vicious as the unknown sentience in "The Blair Witch Project".

The only downside I see for this movie (other than a relatively typical sci-fi plot) is that there isn't a Criterion Collection version scheduled for release. For a film like this, the more trimmings that are added to the DVD the better.

Summary: Great movie for true Sci Fi fans
Review: This movie is one of the best ive seen in a long time. Its CGI is amazing and very well done. The story is gripping and scary enough to keep you jumping, and character developement (for those that live LOL) is really good. Ive been waiting since February for it to come out on video, and it has been a long, agonizing wait. I highly recommend this to anyone, but since all do not share my personal views, i would suggest renting it first. Oh, and if you missed it in theaters, i pity you.

Summary: One of the best science-fiction movies in years!
Review: I went to the movie EXPECTING a silly, bloody, jump-out-and-scare-you movie, with a plot full of holes, and one-dimensional characters.

I was pleasantly suprised. The story itself makes sense, the characters have some sense of depth, the cinematography is wonderful, and the special effects are great. It's a lot more than the previews made it look like.

I would definitely recommend this to anybody who liked the Alien movies, or Starship Troopers. A must-see science-fiction.

Summary: Not Your Average SciFi Movie
Review: This low budget movie does a fantasic job introducing its characters and their histories. The special effects doesn't get in the way of the story. The shaking camera action is used a lot during movie, but if you watch closely it actually enhances the movie experience. The story isn't original, but the presentation more than makes up for the movies weaknesses. Compared to other big budget SciFi movies, Pitch Black deliver great visuals for its cost. Star Wars' desert planet Tatoonie had two suns, but it looked more like a normal Earth desert (which it was). Pitch Black created the effect of the three suns in a much more believable visual. Radha Mitchell, Cole Hauser and Vin Diesel did a great job with their characters, making them interesting enough to want to know more about them. If you're a fan of SciFi show FarScape, then you'll be happy to know that Caudia Black is in the movie. SciFi fans get suckered into seeing a lot of awful SciFi movies (ie: Mission to Mars), but Pitch Black delivers a SciFi experience worth watching more than once.

Review: The movie is a refreshing surprise in the current genre of sci-fi films. I particularly liked the fact that the characters are realistic, in terms of their flaws and strong points. No one is purely evil or virtuous. Vin Diesel, aka, Richard B. Riddick stood out as the reluctant savior because of his raw talent in portraying a "Hannibal Lecter of the space age."

Summary: Sci-fi thriller is a killer
Review: What can you say about another "Alien" movie? The cast, who I thought did an excellent job, worked with a tired plot where there is a "good guy" and a "bad guy". The movie tries to show that the bad guy character is bad in the beginning, but we all figure out the plot way ahead of time and that he will become one of the "good guys". The plot does run very typical of a horror movie. People get killed one-by-one. For me the enjoyment of the movie was the special effects of the modern-day vampires. The ending also was a twist of what everyone thought was going to happen but didn't (exactly). I would recommend this flick to everyone who enjoys Sci-fi, horror and special effects. This movie can be seen over and over again and still be very enjoyable.

Summary: Top Notch Sci-Fi Thriller
Review: I saw this movie the first day of the showing and it was great! The plot is typical of all horror flicks, the picking off one by one of the crew, but it is done in a manner to keep you guessing what will happen next and who will be left. The movie did not have the typical ending where the audience already figured out the plot and how the movie would end. This flick does keep you envolved and intrigued from beginning to end. Not a yawn to be found. I can't wait for the DVD!
