Rating: Summary: Just as good as Superman II... Review: This Superman is the best and last. It was low budgeted when compared to movies that came out in the same year. The FX aren't very good especially when compared with RoboCop or the Star Trek Next Generation TV series. The story is good, though. Mankind is on the brink of nuclear war. Although Superman is forbidden to change the course of mankind, he takes each missile and destroys it. Criminal mastermind Lex Luthor returns with a devious plan to make Nuclear Man by taking a strand of Superman's hair from a museum, hiding it in a missile, and sending it to Superman. When Superman throws the last missile into the sun, it creates so much energy that his hair strand becomes Nuclear Man! There is a huge factual error in this movie. When Lacy Wimfield is captured by Nuclear Man, she is brought up into space. But if you pay attention, you'll see she is getting weak and she wasn't in space that long for her blood to turn into gas or anything. Plus, she was flying at a fast speed. Even if there is an error there, it doesn't matter. It's still good.
Rating: Summary: The Quest for a Story..... Review: Well trying one last time to do a Superman sequal, Chris Reeve did get most of the cast back, and fought hard to get a good screenplay for the movie. What really shot the movie in the dirt was the effects. The film company who did the effects ended up using a lower budget which made the movie look terrible. When Superman flew, the image looked grainy and unfocused. Like the effects team were really the pits at doing the effects needed to make Superman look good when he flew. Chris did ask Richard Donner to helm this movie, but he had to decline due to other movie projects, so the director who was hired to do it, was not that great. He might have tried his best to make it look good, but couldn't. The movie's only redeaming quality was that they finally had a composer who could score music that was much more fitting to the themes John Williams did for the first movie, and this was Star Trek composer Alexander Courage. At least he made the music sound good. After this movie, there were no more Superman movies, and it was sad to end it on a low note.

Rating: Summary: Is it true ??? Review: I just have a question for those who have Superman IV, Is it true that the DVD version have spanish subtitles??? I hope anyone can answer me this question 'cause in my contry it doesn't.
Rating: Summary: Warner Brothers please release the uncut version 134 min. Review: The film has been bashed to long. Even though Cannon Films used most of the film's budget for their other projects at the time like Masters Of The Universe, etc. and messed with Warner Brothers. The true fans shouldn't pay the price, for Cannon Films fault. It is over already and it is about time Warner Brothers restores the deleted footage back into the film already. Let the film redeem it self for what it trully was going to be. With the extended and new scenes, it trully would be an incredible motion picture despite the poor special effects. The orignial 134 minute Superman IVs time has come to see the light of day. Please don't punish the fans by not releasing it.
Rating: Summary: Superman vs Nuclear Man! Review: Last installment in the Superman saga loaded with new adventure, excitement and roller coaster fun. Superman IV: The Quest for Peace main theme is: Nuclear Disarmament. Arch villain Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) returns and is determined to destroy Superman one more time. He creates a new being to challenge the Man of Steel: the radiation-charged Nuclear Man. Also starring Margot Kidder, Jackie Cooper & Mark McClure, plus Superman's new damsel in distress played by Mariel Hemingway.
Rating: Summary: absolutely atrocious Review: Well the've done it again, made a great comic book story into a pile... This movie is about as bad as Karate Kid Three. Lets see, whats wrong with it--well EVERYTHING! I don't know where to begin, with Lex's far-fetched escape out of prison, normal people flying in space, getting rid of all the nuclear missles by putting them into the sun, and of course our villian, thats right, where did they find this guy, some... solar senisitve villian that came from the sun--brilliant! First of all, don't cast John Cryer for anything, yeah, I'm sure his performance as Lex's son was probably the finest in his short an completely unknown career. Hackman, what were you thinking, this movie should have ended your career. For future refenece, when you get a script like this, DON'T TAKE IT!!! ... Well, this is by far the worst flick(I won't even call it a movie, let alone a film) I've ever seen.
Rating: Summary: Simply Horrible Review: This movie was simply horrible. This one and Superman III. When you think Superman, one of the things you think of is the romance between him and Lois Lane, which is played out in the 2nd movie. The problem isn't really bad acting in this movie; it was mor like bad writing. It's such a shame because the first two Superman movies are classics. Watching the 3rd and the 4th movie almost make you never want to watch the first two again. My advice would be don't waste your money on this movie its not worth it. Or if you REALLY want to see this movie rent it.
Rating: Summary: Oh My Gosh, What were they thinking... Review: The only 2 movies that exist in the Chris Reeves Superman universe is Sup's 1 and 2. EVERTHING ELSE is a complete waste of time. Warner Bros. really has NO clue how to continue making good comic book hero movies in a franchise. Look at there history... Sup's 1 and 2 GREAT - But Sup's 3 and 4 are HORRIBLE Batman '89 GREAT - EVERY live-action Bat-movie that follows are HORRIBLE
Rating: Summary: Not all bad Review: A lot of negative stuff has been said about the Superman IV movie. But unfortunately many reviewers overlook the good points too. First of all, the musical score is wonderful, and it is mind boggling why the soundtrack has not been released, especially since the composer is Alexander Courage. OK, so the special effects need work. You can tell they're dollies when Superman and Nuclear Man are flying around the Earth. But the heat-ray/lasers used for Nuclear Man's power are wonderful. And remember folks, Gene Hackman did the voice for Nuclear Man, not Mark Pillow. So all that awful dialogue cannot be the burden of Pillow alone. It would be a truly great movie if they included all cut footage and spruced up the special effects. The great sound and music is already there.
