Summary: Rubbish
Review: This movie is complete rubbish.

Comic book dialogue, poor acting, ridiculous story, boring fight scenes, flawed effects, unconvincing philosphical drivel, the list goes on.

In fact this self-indulgent mess has to be the worst movie I have seen so far this year, and that includes some stinkers. Most annoying of all is that it parades as a 'thinking man's action movie', when it is anything but.

It was like watching a 2 1/2 hour long video game intro

Summary: Not as good as it's predecessor, but entertaining enough
Review: Making a sequel for the awesome, mind blowing "The Matrix", I'm sure was very difficult. How can you make a sequel to something that was as great and monumental in film history? Well, the answer to that question can be found in watching "The Matrix Reloaded." If you watch this movie, you will see how hard it is by the acting flaws, plot holes, pointless scenes, and many other things. Don't get me wrong, I liked this movie alot. My expectations were high while coming in to see this movie, but were lowered about 30% after seeing this. Here is why.

In the first Matrix, we were introduced to a world that looks of devastation, and taken out of the world that we think is real. Everything was original and mind blowing. The special effects, fight scenes, and originality of the movie itself. After watching it, you kind of have to wonder how their going to pick up after all of mind blowing madness of The Matrix. Well, the Wachowski brothers picked it up put didn't really deliver anything very interesting. The only real new thing were introduced to is the city of Zion, new agents, and new character. By the way, whatever happened to Tank? He just vanished. Anyways, the movie's main theme here, is saving the city of Zion. But while were trying to focus our minds on saving Zion, other things are thrown at us to get us off track of the main objective in Reloaded. When it gets back to saving Zion, after an important scene, you forget all about it, and wonder what everyone is talking about in the movie.

Another note, is the acting and pointless scenes. In the first Matrix, the acting was superb and you felt for the character and got in depth with the crew. In this movie, I felt nothing like that. It just seemed Keanu Reeves, Carrie Ann Moss, and Laurence Fishburne were enthusiastic and excited, but not enough to make you feel for their character. There were grave problems to deal with, and they were dramatic about it to make you feel for them as well. Now, onto the pointless scenes. There was one scene that shouldn't be in there, and that is a sex scene. Why in the world did they throw in a sex scene? And it comes up when you least expect it, so you kind of get dissapointed. Also, the huge fight scene with Neo Vs. a huge mass of Agent Smith's. It was awesome, and entertaining, but then again, at the same time, it was pointless.

Over all the key flaws of this movie, I still enjoyed it. The fight scenes were spectacular. Gun fight scenes were enchanced from the last movie, making it even more mad. The highway scene is unforgettable, and should be hailed as the one of the best action scenes in a movie in movie history. The special effects were incredible and some of the best I've ever seen. Stunts were great as usual and you'll never forget those as well. If you saw The Matrix and you really want to see this, then see it. It's well worth it. But please, whatever you do, do not see this without seeing The Matrix first. You'll be totally confused and you'll probably hate it. Hopefully this review was helpful and enjoy The Matrix Reloaded when you see it!

Summary: Return to the Matrix!
Review: Finally, the long awaited sequel to the hit film, "Matrix" is in theaters and the directors have rewarded fans with an interesting film with the unbelievable special effects that helped make the first film a pleasure for the eye. This film starts with Morpheus (Laurence Fishboure)and his crew, including Neo (Keanu Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) returning to the only remaining human city, Zion. We learn that the machines are burrowing their way to the city and humanity must prepare for a fight with the machines that are determined to wipe them out of existence. The directing pair of Wachowski brothers has succeeded in making a sequel that lives up to its hype and effectively adds to the story of the first movie. The fight scenes, Neo's "superman thing", and the freeway sequence are worth the price of admission alone. But there are lots of things to bring you back to the intriguing world of the Matrix. Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) is back and in full force with a group of his own clones. Other interesting new characters is Niobe played by Jada Pinkett-Smith, the Twins, an evil duo that are determined to capture the Key Maker, a man that the Oracle says will help Neo in his search for the answers to his questions. Like the first film, this story has lots of mystery and language that can be taken differently by each person watching. I think that is one of the things that makes these films so entertaining and addictive. Keanu Reeves is excellent as "the one" who, at first reluctant, is now more comfortable with his role in the prophesy that Morpheus has dedicated his life to and is willing to die for. The only complaint---now we have to wait until November for the final installment in the trilogy! Go see this film, you'll love it!

Summary: To quote Neo: 'WHOA"
Review: The first word out of my mouth after I stepped out of the theater was WHOA. Keanu said it best in the first "Matrix", but I felt it was the most appropriate time to steal a line from a movie.
This is an action movie with a great screenplay, philosophy on life, cool acting, and my husband's favorite: Carrie Ann Moss in Black vinyl/leather clothing riding a motorcycle.
I had highly anticipated seeing this in the movies, as I had missed the first one as I waited until it was on video(big mistake). It is a true spectacle, a feast for the eyes, and totally kicks... It is a MUST SEE film for the big screen. It is amazingly well crafted and it hits you at warp speed.
Everyone I've talked to that has seen it, loved it. I LOVED it. My husband loved it. Trust me, this one is worth seeing in the movie theater.

Summary: Not as Good, but that's expected
Review: Let's get it out of the way. No, this movie is not as good as the first. However, I don't think it should be. I've always felt that when making a trilogy, it has to be very difficult to make the middle movie. You have to carry the plot of the first movie without completely solving anything since you have to leave something for the last movie. Matrix Reloaded does a good job at this.
Even though there seems to be a good gap of time from the end of the first movie, there are still links to keep the viewer connected to the original. And at the end, you're still left with enough questions to keep you excited for the third movie.
With that said, there were only a few dislikes to the movie. One is surprisingly (GASP!) the fight/action scenes. While the choreography is beyond amazing, I often found myself thinking, "Alright. I get it. They're fighting." And I never thought that seeing a motorcycle swerve around traffic would eventually get old. What it really boils down to is, you have something close to a three hour movie that could have easily been reduced to two hours if the action scenes were normal length. However, I never got bored, so they weren't a total loss.
My only other complaint had to be towards the gun violence in the movie. Surprisinly the lack thereof, which I thought wouldn't happen in a Matrix movie. I mean, let's face it, there's something truely awesome about seeing Neo walk through a room, guns blazing. Watching this movie, I felt the directors caved on the whole violence issue. I can understand though. When the Columbine events happened, it was almost impossible to see a report where the bank scene from the first Matrix wasn't shown. Matrix Reloaded comes along, and all of a sudden, 90% of what would have been bullets flying everywhere is replaced with...swordplay. Still cool, but Morpheus doesn't look quite as cool with a Samuri sword in hand as he does with a pistol.
All that aside, this is still a great movie. If you're going to see it hoping for a movie that will make you think, get ready. This one will almost wear you out.
If this movie is any indication of the third and final, we can easily expect one of the best trilogies ever.

Summary: Tastes Great, Less Filling and Ultimately Less Satisfying
Review: Seeing the first Matrix was like falling in love; there's the rush of newness, the excitement of learning and seeing something new, something that has never been done before in celluloid.
It was, and still stands the test of time as a brilliant and innovative film.
"The Matrix Reloaded" doesn't get that lucky. Being the middle movie of a trilogy it has the daunting task of overcoming the "middle of the story" syndrome and unfortunately it fails, as others have failed before it. The story of the humans versus the machines in the matrix continues, but the newness is gone, there's just MORE. More fighting, more special effects, more speechafying and philosophizing, tedious and pretentious stretches of minutes where they're giving speeches and you really don't know what the hell they are talking about.
Fight - speech - fight - speech - fight - speech.
And so on.
The true test and the true climax will come with "Matrix Revolutions" where the final battle for Zion will be concluded and who will win? Man or machine? I plan on going and finding out, because it's gotta be better than this one.

Summary: Entertaining but not as good as the original Matrix
Review: This action-packed flick was fun to watch, but it didn't have the same sense of uniqueness or innovation that came with the original Matrix. Without giving the movie away, let's just say that there were certain elements of it that were reminiscent of Star Wars, particularly the decision-making council in Zion, giving me that "been there, done that" feeling. The multitudinous clones of Agent Smith were intriguing at first, then downright humorous. They might have been threatening if there weren't so darned *many* of them. The climactic meeting that Neo has toward the end of the movie is well, anti-climactic - I would have expected something more. Seems like it would have been a place where the writers could have played a bit more with their imaginations and also could have had a field day with special effects. What could have been a really phenomenal event ended up feeling like Neo was getting called on the carpet by a corporate CEO.

It is still a fun way to spend an evening, so long as the viewer recognizes it for what it is - namely, very much a transitional movie intended to bridge between the first and the third Matrix films.

Summary: Highly Entertaining.
Review: Some will rate this movie as the best movie ever and some will rate it as a waste of time. Every person is different and you may not approve of the other reviews.
The only thing I can say is this. Go see it and you be the judge.
This movie is highly entertaining and you really want to see it on the big screen. Just make sure you go to the restroom before the movie starts... Enjoy!

Summary: Great movie, but the original is better.
Review: Talk about an action festival. Neo fighting multiplying Agent Smiths' is one of the best choreographed fight sequences I have ever seen. The freeway chase is amazing. These two scenes alone make the movie worth seeing.

Lot's of new characters, revelations and plot twists. You now have the Key Maker, the Architect, the Twins, upgraded Agents, the new Agent Smith, etc. Unfortunatley, this has a negative affect on the movie. There is just too much thrown at you to digest. Too many new characters. If you don't play very close attention to the dialogue, you will miss the brief explanations about who is who. Sometimes you can't tell who the people are from the programs. Too many plot twists and "revelations". While you are trying to figure out one thing, they throw another thing at you. Then after all that, you are slapped with a "cliffhanger" type ending.

Another problem with this movie are some of the "filler" scenes that are put in there. For example, the dance celebration in the city of Zion lasts a tad too long. It looks like some sort of post apocaliptic rave party. That intermixed with the painfully long Neo/Trinity love scene is just pointless. For me, the chemistry between Keanu Reeves and Carie Ann Moss has never really been there. I am not able to buy into this relationship. She just plain looks older than he does and it doesn't work for me.

Despite it's shortcomings, it is still a very entertaining movie. I'm sure the questions that are presented in this movie will be answered in the third installment. While giving this movie a solid thumbs up, it just doesn't compare to the first movie.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Matrix overloaded
Review: Despite its thoughtful philosophical plot, excellent directing and acting, too much of the movie is involved in cleverm ritualized violence and fighting and for me this quickly became boring and tiresome. Further, it is difficult to take a threat seriously if at any given moment, one of the combatants reveals a heretofore superpower, people just wouldn't die or, get hurt so the question is why bother? The movie is such a sensual assault that its no wonder that some duped, half crazed kids would try to model this into real life violence.

Violence and horror has a place in theater but when there is too much at the expense of a going intellectual involvment it is just more of the Hollywoodian, overblown, overdone, popular pandering to the lowest in people --- lowest in this case being the dwelling on violence for its own sake.
