Summary: THE MATRIX REMORPHED AND REDIGITIZED
Review: ... FIRST I FEEL THAT THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT WAS NOT SEEING ANIMATRIX AND PLAYING ENTER THE MATRIX FIRST. THEY ARE THE PREQUEL SO YOU REALLY FELT ALITTLE LEFT OUT UNTIL YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED THEM BOTH. PERSONALLY I WAS PLEASED TO SEE THE MATRIX RELOADED TAKE A NEW DIRECTION STORY WISE THAT IS. THE CHARACTERS CONTINUED TO DEVELOP WITH SEVERAL PLOT TWISTS THAT WERE WELL THOUGHT OUT. THE ORACLE FOR ONE! WONT RUIN IT. ALSO YOU HAD ALOT MORE EXPOSURE TO THE WORLD OF THE MATRIX AND THE SO CALLED REAL WORLD. WHAT I THINK REALLY LACKED CREATIVITY WAS WHAT EVERYONE SEEMS TO SAY IS THE BEST THING ABOUT THE MOVIE. THE EFFECTS ...ANYONE CAN USE CGI TO TURN THEIR MOVIE INTO A BLOCKBUSTER THESE DAYS. PEOPLE ARE TOO EASILY LEAD BY THE VAST VISUAL EFFECTS. PERSONALLY I WOULD HAVE RATHER SEEN NEO BATTLE 8 MR SMITHS INSTEAD OF 40...BECAUSE IT DIDN'T LOOK VERY REALISTIC EVEN IN AN UNREALISTIC WORLD. THE BEST SEQUENCE WAS THE HIGHWAY SEQUENCE. WHY? BECAUSE IT WAS FILLED WITH A LOT OF WIRE WORK AND THOUGHT OUT REALISTIC SCENES THAT WERE JUST ALMOST REALISTIC ENOUGH TO CAUSE ONE TO BELIEVE....ISN'T THAT WHAT THE MOVIE IS SUPPOSED TO DO. CAUSE US TO QUESTION OUR PATH OF EVOLUTION. PEOPLE NEED TO START REALIZING WHAT YOU SEE ISN'T ALL THATS THERE. TOO OFTEN THE GREAT FILMS AND GENUISES ARE NOT REALIZED UNTIL THEY ARE GONE OR ARCHIVED AWAY. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WANT TO SEE AN AMAZING MOVIE FILLED WITH PHILOSOPHY AND ACTION SEE THE MATRIX. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WANT SEE VISUAL EFFECTS AND HALF OF WHAT THE MATRIX WAS SEE RELOADED. ONLY REALIZE ONE THINGS THE BROTHERS HAD TEN YEARS TO WRITE THE MATRIX AND ONLY 4 TO WRITE RELOADED AND REVOLUTION. CORPORATE GREED AND THE DRIVE FOR MONEY MIGHT BE THE REASON THE SEQUELS ARE LESS THEN THEY COULD HAVE BEEN.

Summary: Ooo Wow "Matrix 2"! It's Gonna Be Great!...
Review: ...I am writing this review only minutes after viewing it in the theatre.
My expectations were very high for the highly-anticipated sequel to one of the best movies I have ever seen.
The trailers are made up of EVERY exciting part of the movie. Really, if you go to see this movie, you are just seeing the naughty gravy stuff that was too...shall I say, boring? No, none of this was boring, but you are only seeing the scenes that weren't 'good' enough for the commercials, save the Neo and Trinity love scene, which I found to be the worst part of the movie, simply because...uh...no one cares?
What the hey was going on here?! The people of Zion were dancing to some drum 'n bass techno music while Neo and Trinity are getting it on...what does this 9 minute scene have to do with the movie?
What was the plot anyways?! Save Zion?! How were we supposed to know with all the psychobabble going on about "Chance is an illusion" and "You've already made that choice, now you must understand it." Give me a break.
Don't misjudge me, the action sequences were mind-blowing, yet I found myself pleading that the scenes were no longer presented in slow motion bullet time. How about some fast scenes? Maybe it would wake the sleepy people who were lullibied by the crazy blah blah blah.
And what's with the sexual shinanagans?! "I haven't felt that love in a long time..." "She wasn't kissing your lips" "I need you Trinity..."

Give me a BREAK.

Whoa. I've complained a lot about this movie, yet it was still good. WHAT?! I don't even understand myself after seeing this. 2 Stars.

Summary: Not quite the same Matrix experience but worth the visit...
Review: The first Matrix blew people away because of its highly original storyline. Any sequel was bound to suffer from losing that element.

This sequel is packed with breathtaking action sequences which grab you by the jugular and don't let go. The sequence on the freeway alone is worth the price of the ticket.

Its storyline is very intelligent but can be difficult to follow in places; it doesn't flow the way its predecessor did. I found the first half hour of the film slightly annoying because of the pacing and because it was quite disorientating trying to establish the setting. In addition, the action, spectacular as it was, relied too heavily on obvious CGI which made some scenes tongue-in-cheek.

The ending is abrupt with a "To be concluded" at the end which the first one did not have. This has the effect of grouping Matrix 2 and 3 together as separate from the first so it is not quite a trilogy.

Overall, it is an extremely memorable romp and some of the new characters are really cool. I look forward to the concluding episode but not as eagerly as I did for this one.

Summary: The Thinking-Man's Action Film
Review: In 1999, when "The Matrix" first debuted, the Wachowski brothers hit Hollywood with film making techniques that had never been done before. 'Bullet-time' never existed until "The Matrix," and it has become one of Hollywood's most copied effects. I personally thought that there would be no way that "Reloaded" would top the first film, and in some ways it didn't (story, cohesiveness, etc.). After viewing the film, I thought of all that had happened to bring it to the screen: the deaths of two cast memebers, the financial hang-ups, the desire of the impatient public demanding another film and it was no wonder this film felt rushed. The Wachowski brothers seem eager to get this trilogy over and done with, and with all the hard-ships they've encountered, I don't blame them! They have, however, created a film that is vastly superior to the first in terms of effects, fights and raw action. The story is quite muddled, but anyone who sits through a "Matrix" film for the story is an idiot. People watch these movies to see what mind-bending effect or stunt comes next, and on that level this film succeeds. Example: the 15-minute car chase towards the end of the film - it provides the viewer with some of the most breathtaking scenes ever committed to film(and its just jaw dropping). Also, remember that the next film is due out in 6 months, so a lot of ground needed to be covered in this film. See the film twice, preferably a matinee to better digest the Architect's soliloquy, which isn't really that hard to decipher - it's just a bunch of big words people...use a dictionary for god's sake. The film is quite smart, and the majority of people going to see the film are of the 'Vin Diesel/Fast & The Furious' mold - people who want their movies as dumb as humanly possible, ergo easy to understand. "Reloaded" delivers what it promises, smart sci-fi with some unbelievable stunts and effects that Hollywood will be sure to copy for years to come.

Summary: Enter The Matrix!
Review: The Matrix Reloaded is a great first half of a film that will not conclude until November. The first time I saw this film, I was somewhat confused and maybe even dissapointed by the length of the film and scenes that seemed out of place. However, upon seeing it a second time, I find the film to be a very good film that delivers exactly what it needs to. Moviegoers expecting another revolutionary film will be dissapointed due to unreasonable expectations. This film can't take you anywhere as new and as interesting as the last one, as the original Matrix came out of nowhere to shock the movie industry and revolutionize action films. The original combined spiritual elements with many futuristic theories from other films about how humans are controlled by machines, and they mixed it with amazing action and never before seen special effects. While this film delivers on the action and the effects, it is impossible to deliver on the story level because it is a cliffhanger, and only one half of a film. There are many questions that this film raises, which will hopefully be answered in the conclusion. The dialogue scenes are hard to follow, but make sense and are not as boring as critics have made them seem. The characters are more developed, and there are some new characters that are very interesting. The scene that starts in the hotel and ends with a freeway chase is one of the best action scenes I've ever seen on film and is very fun to watch. My advice to everyone is to see this film without having expectations, pay attention to the scenes with no action, and ahve a great time watching Neo and friends [are awesome].

Summary: the Matrix Reloaded is BLOATED
Review: I only recently watched THE MATRIX in its entirety. Missed it in the theatrical release, so I settled for seeing it on DVD. I really enjoyed the film as did millions of others.

Unfortunately, THE MATRIX RELOADED was a waste of more than 120 minutes. I had huge expectations, and left the theatre not looking forward to the third and concluding film. If only they'd combined films 2 and 3 into one 140-minute film!

As one critic commented, this is likely the "talkiest" action movie ever made. Too much screen time was taken up with Morpheus regurgitating French philosopher Jean Baudrillard's endless and mindless yappings about the nature of man and reality. I literally found myself thoroughly confused and losing interest rapidly. Morpheus was joined in the nonsense by the woman called The Oracle, and the creator of the Matrix, who evidently represents God. These scenes were so long it was unbearable, and I will not sit through MR again.

The action sequences even lost their punch as they were repetitive and didn't move the story along at all. What is cinema's longest and most pointless scene has to be the dance/orgy that could've been left out entirely. What was the point of this scene??? MATRIX RELOADED is more of the same of the first film, without adding any interest for the last installment.

Save your money and your time by skipping this on the big screen. It was so much less the experience than I had anticipated. Biggest disappointment of the year!

Summary: Come on critics!!!
Review: I heard nothing but bad reviews about this movie before I went in. I try not to listen to reviews because I want to draw my own conclusion. Being a huge fan of the Matrix, I went into the theatre with an open mind. Boy, am I glad I did so.

This movie was spectacular. I found myself on the edge of my seat throughout the 2 hours +. The special effects were as good as I've ever seen on a Hollywood screen, the acting was ok, and the storyline was very good. I have no problems with this movie at all, and it amazes me that so many do.

And enough already with saying Keanu Reaves can't act. Can YOU do a better job? He brings much appeal to the screen, and sure, his voice is a little monotone and one dimensional, but he does a great job in these Matrix movies. Great movie. I can't wait til the next one.

Summary: Stay home and rent Equilibrium instead!
Review: I was extremely disappointed in this movie. "The Matrix" while not completely original in story or action was never boring. This ridiculous sequel was so long it felt as if the screenwriter kept typing "and then Neo did this, and after that he did this, and then A happened and that made B and so on and so on!" The whole Agent Smith replication scene reminded me of that old Breck Shampoo commercial with all those pretty talking heads popping up on the TV screen.

The Wachowski brothers took all that was wrong in the first movie and threw it up on the screen. Now we have pointless action sequences with obvious CGI synthetic actors. I haven't seen anything that scary since "Final Fantasy" or "Attack of the Clones"! Maybe whatever Lucas is suffering from is contagious!

Keanu's acting is wooden enough without seeing a plastic CGI representation of him bouncing and flying around the screen. It is just sad because Reeves really makes an effort to act in this movie. He is actually good, especially when partnered with the wonderful Carrie Moss. Moss was what made the first movie really good. But here she is reduced to the supporting girlfriend role and has very few actual acting scenes. Now she just runs around in spandex and looks angry. Ditto for FishBurne's mysterious Morpheus. In this new film he has been reduced to some kind of Born Again Neoistic Prophet blowhard. I got sick of him yapping continously about how wonderful Neo is. Where was Agent Smith? If he had a piece of Neo inside him then why hasn't he evolved into a different type of program? Why is he stuck in the same groove? He was another great character wasted. Instead we are given forgettable throw away new characters to fill in the time before the next plastic action sequence. I won't even discuss the Zion Dance Sequence. It just makes me angry.

I wish I could get my money back. Please watch the fantastic "Equilibrium" on DVD instead. Or at least keep watching first movie.
