Summary: Compared to the other 22 movies, this one's awful!
Review: I get more of a smile when I watch the Big G's death scene in Godzilla Vs. Destroyah then when I watch this entire movie! (and trust me, if you've seen Godzilla Vs. Destroyah, you KNOW that's bad!)

Summary: One of the greatest COMEDY
Review: Ha Ha. Shame on myself. I saw this big stupid film in the theater. Maybe I should confess this sin in the church.

Summary: Soundtrack closely resembles the quality of the movie.
Review: There are about 4 songs that I enjoyed off of this soundtrack. Puff Daddy's "Come With Me" produces a burst of excitement for the first couple of times you hear it. Then you want to think "When is it going to be over?". Really, the song is about 6 minutes long. A favorite that I still listen to is the song by GreenDay. Another hit includes the song by SilverChair. Other than these groups, most of the songs seem weak and repetitive. If you're thinking of buying this CD, take my advice and listen through the tracks first.

Summary: Not true to the original, but a good time anyway
Review: Yes, the original Godzilla was the best, and yes, the story and dialogue of this film is bottom of the barrel, but its a big dumb summer movie. It was exciting enough to make me forget about how pissed off I was that the old G design was tossed to the wayside, and what we are left with is essentialy a giant iguana. I agree with some that it shouldn't have been called Godzilla, but you cant deny the power of scenes like the one where the beast jumps from Manhattan Island into the Hudson, or the climatic scene on the bridge. A great special effects ride, dont expect anything more. The DVD version is great, with tons of extras, including some Japanese trailers for the real Godzilla. It makes you realize the true value of your DVD player. A great price for such a packed disc.

Summary: A real treat for Godzilla fans.
Review: I've been a Godzilla fan ever since I was 7 years old. Now as a college student my admiration for the big lizard has grown bigger than ever since this movie came out. The effects are superb and rival those of the rubber suit character. However, my heart stays with the classical Godzilla, but I'll always be a Godzilla fan to the day I die. This version was one of the best films I'd seen in 1998. I thought it was better than "Armageddon". To all other Godzilla fans out there I love ya! Those who think Godzilla is a fanatical craze or think that the King of the Monsters is a total wimp to the entertainment industry, then keep it to yourself...GODZILLA ROCKS SO THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Let's hope the sequel's better
Review: For a film with so much hype, you'd expect better than this, but once again imagination, thought-provoking points, plot, originality and strong characters have gone to the all in favour of big, bold special effects. Not that the special effects are that good - Godzilla himself looks more like a real animal than before but its offspring are obviously computer graphics. In fact this whole film has the feel of something designed by a machine - it's so lacking in character. Ideas 'borrowed' from Jurassic Park abound. On a more positive note, the Frenchman intended as the 'evil foreigner'(lacking a twirly moustache and sinister cackle, strangely) actually comes across as the only real human being in the film. Bringing Godzilla up to date and abandoning the man-in-suit version was a good move, but it's a shame a plot worthy of the change wasn't written, an preferably one that didn't encourage kids to believe in a world populated by 'goodies' and 'baddies'. The xenophobia was also something we can do without in a world where there is already more than enough racism. The Japanese films were much more enjoyable than this.

Summary: The 3rd worst Godzilla movie ever made.
Review: WHAT?! That was Godzilla, the king of the monsters? HA! I'm a 11 year old Godzilla Expert. I've been waching Godzilla movies since I was in preschool, and I think I know what Godzilla is. One of the worst things about the film is that Godzilla didn't look like Godzilla at all! Emmerich made Godzilla look like the T-Rex from "Jurassic Park" (1993) with small mountains coming out of his back. He couldn't even shoot Godzilla's trademark blue death ray. And he was killed by JETS! The Japanese hit him with everything and still couldn't kill him! If Toho's Godzilla and Tristar's Godzilla fought, Toho's would kill Tristar's in 20 seconds! Only two Godzilla films are worse than this: "Godzilla's Revenge" (1969) and "Godzilla vs. Megalon" (1973). But there's an animated T.V series on FoxKids called "Godzilla: The Series" on Saturday Mornings which is way better than this. When Tristar makes the sequel, pray it's better than this. When you wanna watch the REAL GODZILLA just pop a Toho Godzilla movie into your VCR or D.V.D Player. If you wish to comment on my review E.Mail me at spankys@Earthlink.net.

Summary: Where the hell is Godzilla anyways?
Review: How this film was legally called Godzilla is beyond me. It should have been called "Another Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" because that's what it really was, a remake of that film not "Godzilla." Everything that made Godzilla what he was is flushed down the toilet with the awful script written by Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich. I'm not even going to bother to recap the plot for this review, because it didn't have one. I can write an entire novel about all the plot holes and inaccuracies this film had, but unfortunately there is only a 1000 word limit. Like why did Godzilla travel many miles to lay IT'S eggs in one of the most populated cities in the world, how it constantly changed it's size etc. etc...(for more info, read Roger Eberts review.) Also, Godzilla is a monster, not an iguana on nuclear steroids. Godzilla breathed fire, alot and had a personality. This phony did not. (I'm not sure if it was fire that the phoney blew in a couple of scenes) This film was so bad, that it actually compelled Japan to bring back the original Godzilla from the dead, again, because they were so disappointed with the American version.

Summary: Good rental movie
Review: Well I liked the movie on DVD but I wouldn't buy one or spend over $5 to see it in the movie theater. If you can rent it for under four dollars then it is definitely seeing
