Summary: One of the VERY BEST Sci Fi's
Review: There are very few films that everyone in my family can enjoy, and a film that my father isn't complaining at the end of is one of the rarest things I can think of. Judge Dredd was one of the very VERY few films my father not only isn't complaining about, but actually praises and will watch again and again and recommend it to other people. Even I loved it, and I am beginning to get tired of most of these monotonous effects-driven sci fi movies. Judge Dredd was anything but monotonous and effects-driven, having an original plot and a look unique to it's own self. I could actually point this movie out in a crowd, which is more than I can say about many other sci fi movies these days. The special effects were not the only decent things in this film, and even with the INCREDIBLY HIGH EXPECTATIONS everyone in our family has, every single one of us loved it. One of the most remarkable effects in my opinion was the large robot that the villain controlled. It was absolutely frightening. Sylvester Stallone may not be the handsomest guy, but he's a good actor, I think, in this film. My father especially loves that "I knew you'd say that" line that Judge Dredd keeps letting out with-and it is, in fact, one of our little family sayings. I would recommend anyone to watch this, if they craved a visually stupendous, action-packed film with an smart and original storyline-and had the intelligence to appreciate it.

Summary: Liked it very much
Review: I thought it was typical stallone, as one who never really read the comic strip but did play the role playing game (a lot), I thought that the feel of the world was fairly well captured. The movie was not as dark as the role playing game or the little I've seen of the comic strip. This is obviously far in the past of the world that the roleplaying game takes place in as the judges are still human and not yet genetically manipulated and the weapons and other goodies were not quite as advanced. I liked the movie very much and I only wish they had made more than one movie.

Summary: Action Packed Excitement!!!
Review: Get ready for this great action packed thriller that stars Sylvester Stallone as a ruthless judge that acts just like a robocop. He gets framed for murder and it becomes an all out brawl to get himself justice. Ladies and Gentlemen get your popcorn ready safety belts this is going to blow you away.

Summary: Munce
Review: As a film in it's own right, this is decent enough - it's a step up from 'Johnny Mneumonic', and has some decent effects, a neat translation of one of 2000AD's 'ABC Warriors' (from a separate strip), and all-in-all it's decent mindless fun.

As a translation of the Judge Dredd strip, though, it starts off interestingly and then turns unforgivably bad - whilst the paper Dredd is, essentially, a soul-less monster (he was initially modelled on Clint Eastwood's 'Dirty Harry', but taken to an insane extreme), Stallone plays him as a slightly peeved version of a standard action hero. It's closer in tone to the US comic version of Dredd, and misses the ultra-dark humour and much of the bleak setting of the comic. Much of the blame has been left at the feet of Stallone's populist instincts - if it was to be Hollywood-ised at all, this really needed the dry wit of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

There's an interesting soundtrack featuring a diverse range of unexpected bands, including, oddly enough, the Cure.

Summary: STOP !
Review: Please stop taking comic characters into the big screen. It doesn't work! Do it properly or just don't do it! This one is not an exception!

Summary: Not as bad as the critics said
Review: This is one of Stallone's under rated movies. Like Demolition Man it got bashed instead of praised. The action is well done and Stallone is perfect as Dredd. Those who like to be entertained with loud special effects and violence will find this to their interest.

Summary: It's bad but at least i don't own it
Review: I was unfortunate enough to see this movie at the theater anddoubly unfortunate to see the movie again on dvd form. I don't knowwho bothered to transfer this movie onto tape let alone put the effort into a dvd. If you want to see a decent stallone movie (if there is such a thing) get Rambo First Blood. If you want to watch rob schneighder watch Big Daddy. If you want to watch a good sci-fi movie with a good story buy Dark City, but please don't torture yourself with Judge Dredd.

Summary: Why does this movie get bashed?
Review: This movie is not as bad as some would have you believe. What movie couldn't be a little better? Armand Assante's portrail of Rico alone makes this worth the money. My only question is; What happened to the ending? One second there's some fighting and a few gunshots, then suddenly the whole place is blowing up. There is definately some missing footage here. Where's the DVD director's cut? My money will wait until then.

Summary: Best of the best. Spectecular sound.
Review: It is not in a DTS, but if you like spectacular sound Judge Dred is one of the best so far. I own almost thirty DVD titles, but this is the one I love to show to everyone who come to visit me. I rate ten stars for this title. I don't care about the story line. What do you out of your DVD? Isn't it sound or picture quality? Two thumbs up for Sylvester Stallone. Why haven't him made any more movies?
