Summary: Just saw the movie!
Review: I will indeed buy the DVD when it comes out! I am not a real Trekie, my husband is. However, I found this movie to be spell binding and I loved every second of it! It's very exciting, action packed and not predictable as I thought it might be. It has all the usual quality and good acting of the original cast. I would give it six stars if I could. I highly recommend it!!

Summary: This really is a Good Star Trek Movie.
Review: I really enjoyed this movie. It's the best Trek movie they have done in twelve years. Good screenplay, solid performances by the actors, and expert direction by Stuart Barid. I think a new era of Star Trek Movies has begun. Wither we see the Next Generation cast in any more of them, or the coming of new actors playing all new characters for the leads in future movies, that's up to Paramount.

Summary: Won't there be another?
Review: I've listened to the good and bad about Star Trek movies for many years, and I've been a fan for many more. Everyone said it was an even movie and thus had to be good... Well, it didn't disappoint me one bit. The movie had a good mix of the humor from Insurrection, the darkness from II and VI and all the battle scenes we've come to expect as Star Trek fans. This movie most likely will not win over any new fans, and for those who don't know a lot about the Star Trek universe, some things may seem strange and not logical. Well, the movie isn't dealing with Vulcans, and logic isn't a strong point of the Romulans. This movie does try to make you think about humanity, society, and what is inane, but it doesn't provide a completly fulfilling answer. Take this movie more on an action basis, don't think too much, have fun with the amazing battle scenes, enjoy the interaction between the characters, cry when so-and-so dies, and enjoy the trip back into the Star Trek universe. Hope you enjoy.

Summary: Solid Trek
Review: The strange coincidence of even numbered Trek movies being better than the odd numbered installments continues with Star Trek: Nemesis, which is a solid addition to the Next Generation movie franchise. It is far superior to the last NG movie, the lackluster "Insurrection", and it very close to the best one, "First Contact".The movie succeeds because it introduces some very interesting new villains. Next Generation had always suffered a bit because most of its villains were uninteresting or are now allies (Klingons). The only good adversary was the Borg, but they have been used to death by now. Nemesis concentrates on the Remans, the inferior class of the Romulan Empire. Their leader, Shinzon, turns out to be a human clone of Captain Picard. Shinzon is ruthless and intriguing, very well played by Tom Hardy. He seizes the empire in a brutal coup and plans to bring the war to the heart of the Federations. To do this, he constructs a very formidable looking ship, called the Schimitar. Nemesis is carried by the Next Generation crew, who work together so well and are as engaging as ever. Stewart is his usual commanding self, while Spiner brings a great performance as the venerable Data. The culminating battle of the movie is probably the best Star Trek battle ever, even better than some of the Dominion Wars in Deep Space 9. The special effects are done brilliantly and the whole conflict is just intense. However, there are some down sides to the movie. The sublots are a little weak, as is the usually hilarious Star Trek comedy. Some characters are wasted, especially Worf, who is almost a parody of himself in this movie. The somewhat tragic ending was a little too hurried for my tastes, but at least there is hope for the future. Will rank towards the top of any list of Star Trek movies. Here's hoping for a few more.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: Some of my favorite movies are Star Trek movies. I was thrilled by the recent _Wrath of Khan_ special edition DVD, and am looking forward to the eventual _First Contact_ special edition. I've watched each of those countless times, and will surely watch them many times again. Whether I will ever devote another 2 hours of my life to _Star Trek: Nemesis_ is far less certain. One problem is the pacing: the movie is both too slow and too fast. On the one hand, the time spent going to Romulus and setting up the confrontation with the villain (a journey filled, of course, with the ever-present technobabble) feels like it drags on for hours. On the other hand, the relationship between Picard and Shinzon, his clone nemesis, never develops any depth at all. The movie has the two ruminate a bit on how having a clone makes them feel, and on the question of whether they are essentially the same, deep down, but it all feels superficial, like a mere going through the motions. We never invest emotionally in the situation, because it's never quite clear why Shinzon wants so badly to kill Picard, or why Picard cares so much for his snotty other self. The scenes between Data and his clone (B-4) are similarly unmoving. Almost as soon as they meet, before the crew knows much of anything about B-4, Data wants to copy all of his memories into his "brother" right away. Why he would want to do this (or be permitted to do so) is barely touched upon. When the memory transfer doesn't seem to work, and B-4 starts causing problems, he's just kind of dropped, making you wonder why he was in the movie at all -- except for the obvious purposes he would serve in any further sequels, given this movie's ending. I have read that the original cut of _Nemesis_ came in at around 3 hours. Presumably some of the cut scenes would help resolve these problems (hopefully the DVD will help us find out). But given how slow the movie is already, I'm not sure how many more scenes I could have taken. The above problems aren't helped by the fact that, except for a climactic space battle, the movie looks *very* low-budget. Most of the scenes take place on just a few sets, the appearance of which can only be described as "chintzy." The makeup, particularly for the Romulans, is poorly done. There is one visit to an alien planet's surface, and never has a "strange new world" looked so much like the Southern California desert. These factors, combined with bland direction from Stuart Baird, give the production a made-for-TV or direct-to-video feel that's difficult to ignore when you're sitting in the multiplex seat you paid $8.00 for. Despite all of the above, there were moments that made me smile. The humor is mostly well done. There is a surprising rescue followed by an exciting escape. I enjoyed Picard's unconventional solution in a seemingly hopeless starship battle. And, to its credit, _Nemesis_ never made me cringe in the way that _Star Trek V_ or _Insurrection_ did. Unfortunately, these weren't enough to save an otherwise cheap-looking movie in which I just didn't care much about the primary conflict. If somebody thinks of a good story for a final adventure for Picard and company, I'll be happy to go see it. Sadly, _Nemesis_ doesn't give me much cause for hope.

Review: I WOULD say this is the best "Star Trek" movie ever. It's full of exciting conflict and great visual effects. But the ending will depress even the most hardcore "Trek" fans. But it is worth the time. Bring the tissues, though. Grade: B+

Summary: Very good but the word Nemesis is a little misleading
Review: Nemesis(the word not the subtitle) usually means fate, destiny, or some cosmic reason, but in Star Trek Nemesis it's science that is the reason for the title. Picard must outthink his counterpart to save the crew,(typical), while Data discovers a new counterpart of his own. Through 2 reasons by the end of the movie 3 bridgecrew members are gone.Can You Guess Who?You Might Be Surprised!

Summary: A touching farewell to the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise...
Review: Star Trek Nemesis is number 10 in the Star Trek series, and continues a trend that Star Trek II started twenty years ago, continued by number IV number VI and number VII. That trend, for those of you who aren't Trekkies like myself, is the Even Phenomenon. Every Star Trek movie with an even number has been good. That said, a lot of pressure was on the cast and crew to pump out a good movie, particularily if this is to be the final adventure of Picard and his crew. And they came through magnificently with Nemesis. The first half hour is all that stands in the way of this movie recieving five stars, but the corny dialoge ends quickley enough and we are thrust back into the Star Trek Universe aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise once more, and once again we are on a mission to save Earth. The cast dilivers a stunning performance, the effects give new light to Star Trek warfare, there are plenty of suprises and one pariticular factor that was absent in the last movie returns - humor. Nemesis is not just a good Star Trek movie, nor just a good science fiction movie, its a good movie period. The only thing that could ruin this movie is if they make a Star Trek XI. The ending was a perfect farewell to the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise-E, it may even bring a tear to your eye.

Summary: Don't believe the critics!!!
Review: This review isn't just in anticipation on Star Trek: Nemesis, I actually did just go out and see it! I must say that I'd read an early version of the script nearly a year ago, and thought to myself, "Oh geez, another one of these stories that has little or no point." And when the film was reviewed on Dec. 13, the film's release date, I must say I was inclined to agree with the critics, based on the script I read. I thought it was going to be another film like Insurrection, kinda neat but with very little relevance to the Star Trek universe. Well, after actually seeing the final version, I must say I was not just pleasantly surprised, I was blown away! I'm not going to give away a single thing about the film; I'll just say it was very nicely atmospheric, the performances were outstanding, especially that of Patrick Stewart (Capt. Picard), and the visual effects were enough to leave me sitting in the movie theatre with my mouth hanging open! The rest of the crew were used more than in the previous two films, to round the cast a bit more this time, and the bad guy, Shinzon, was given some very real depth, which is rare lately in the Star Trek universe, especially for characters who are in a single episode or film. I will say this about the story, still not giving anything away: the ending is actually a very pleasant was to end the Next Gen cast story, a bit happy and a bit bittersweet. Very nicely done. This film is living proof that you can't always believe the critics, even when they seem to come to a general consensus about a film. I learned a sore lesson with Nemesis: make up your own mind about films, and don't believe what the critics say overly much. If you do, you'll miss a treat of a film

Summary: Dissapointing
Review: The biggest Nemesis here is that Trek has been around so long that is lost steam. Granted the production value of this film is far greater than Final Frontier, or Generations. Ans it was well-written enough that I wasn't physically cringing in the theater the was I was when I saw Insurrection. However, this film was total bore. Only go to see it if you are willing to snooze through a slow-moving, aimless feeling movie that produces no excitment, suprises or emotion. It essentially just relies on the usual Trek trick of recycling old Trek plots and plot devices. This film is a total "clone" of Star Trek II, however as we have all learned from science fiction, the clone is never as good as the original. If you really want to see a good Star Trek film, see Star Trek II, the Wrath of Khan. This film was just a lame re-make of that awesome flick. I guess the Trek writers have just run out of ideas and are not excited about the franchise anymore.
