Summary: Not as bad as the reviews make it seem.
Review: First of all one has to know two things before watching this movie. First thing is that there is no way this movie will be able to live up to the expectations when compared to other Star Wars movies, second, one has to understand that Star Wars movies are for kids. You were a kid when you watched the first one, so there is no way that you can recapture that essence of youth now with this movie. Going back and watching the first one (episode four) this one is not that bad, its actullay pretty good. The fight scenes are great, the graphics and special effects are better than anything else at the time, only episode II has better. And the sound effects are great, even the music score is great, not great like the Imperial March. Its very interesting to see how everything came about, the movie is a little dark, in the episodes 4-6, the good guys win, this one there are little defeats. The character devolopment of Obi Wan is more interesting to see than that of the Kid, they do that in episode II. The political nature of the film is a bit dry and boring, but its needed to get to the point. Bottom line, its a good film, I have it on DVD, because its a really nice DVD to own. It makes full use of the DVD technology.

Summary: not as good as I thought it would be
Review: Too much kidstuff. Lucas lost his edge with this one. Special effects are cool, but a little too much for me. Jar-Jar was annoying, the kid is annoying, the race scene was cheesy. I could go on, but I won't.

Summary: MEDICHLORIANS, CHOSENONES SABER DUELS O MY!
Review: Ok. Lucas had a brain cramp when he created the medichlorians none sense. And what is this about "The chosen One"? But this is a very good movie!

The purpose of this movie was to introduce us to Lukes parents and the Jedi temple as it existed during the Republic. It also introduces us Darth Sidious - Palpatine - The Evil Emperor.

The music is chillingly outstanding. The door opens with Maul standing there and John Williams song "duel of the Fates" starts. What a moment in movie history. Then we are treated to an incredible, high energy light saber duel like nothing ever seen on screen.

Yes there are dumb things to criticize. An elected Queen-ruler of a planet who is 16 years old? Darth Vader didn't recognize R2D2 or C3PO. Jar Jar isn't so bad... he spakes!

Summary: Mixed Emotions
Review: This was a great summer film and I'm almost embarassed to admit that I paid for the ticket price on 12 different occasions to see this movie. Partly because I wanted to see the beautiful vistas and effects that I had been dreaming of since Luke waved goodbye to Yoda, Ben and Anakin at the end of Return of the Jedi, but also to see if I was missing something from the uneven story. Lucas is a great filmmaker, but I really do think he should have let some scriptdoctors take a whack at this before he filmed it. The DVD itself is worthy of all the accolades and awards it has received although the Jar Jar edit feature mentioned by another reviewer would have been a good idea. The picture is super crisp even on my 20 year old TV and the sound is superb. Second to none!

Summary: An enjoyable experience.
Review: What in the name of all things good is wrong with all you critics? How can anyone bash this quality movie? This motion picture has offered me more enjoyment than any cinimatic event to date. Very rarley does a movie move me so much that I even consider cheering outloud. Well, the entire audience including myself cheered on more than one occasion, marvaling this outstanding movies incredible special effects, as well as heart-warming and faced paced plot. This movie is fun. We need more fun movies these days, simple as that. I am tired of seeing "films", and not movies. If I am going to shell out ten bucks for a movie, the last thing I want is to walk out of it depressed, or feeling ripped off. This movie has alot to offer, so dont listen to these inane negitive reviews and buy this DVD. By the way, this DVD is top notch,.. the best yet. This is much metter than episode II, by a long shot. One more thing,...STOP complaining about Jar Jar!! He is funny and adds to the movies overall quality. If you want an incredible movie that is fun to watch, for the hole family, with an ausome end battle and good old fashiond Star Wars feel, treat yourself with this gem of a movie. That is all.

Summary: The Force is not with this one
Review: Episode 1 pales in comparison to the original trilogy. The CGI is well done, but someone forgot to tell Mr. Lucas that this is a movie, not a video game. The acting is bad. Jake Lloyd as Anakin, really annoyed me. I also can't forget Jar Jar(shudder).

The only good things about this movie are 1.) The pod race and 2.) The lightsaber duel at the end.

It's only because of the overall DVD package, that this movie got a rating of 3. Without the extras, that would only leave you the movie, itself. Lets just say that Episode 1, by itself, is worth just that, a 1. Thank goodness for DVD.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Not as great as the original..
Review: I liked finding out more about Obi-Wan Kenobi's past, but the movie has a hard time keeping my attention. It also sparks more questions instead of answers. I did bumped it up to four stars since there isn't 3.5 stars.

Summary: The mythos works!!!!!
Review: Id first like to say that this film was a great way to begin the saga of the Skywalkers. I saw the original Star Wars 26 years ago and have been an avid fan ever since. I have a very dissatisfied view of the critics and to those fans who feel this film is garbage!! The main point I want to make is that Mr. Lucas can do what he wants, and I support him fully in all Episodes he creates for this fantastic Star Wars Saga. Way to go George and keep them coming. By the way, for those of you who say the writing is terrible and the acting is wooden, take a look back at the original three films reviews and you will amazingly discover that back then, THEY SAID THE SAME THING ABOUT THOSE FILMS AS WELL. Please enjoy the story people and appreciate it for what it is, a fantastic Myth with the power to take you to a galaxy far, far, away

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Stay in a galaxy far, far away....from this one.
Review: The hopes of Episode 1 fell quickly. This movie truly was rushed, and had no patient hands or minds. A moment of interesting starts, the federation was cutting all access to the planet of Naboo, and then starting the conflict. Liam Neeson, a super actor, looked and seemed good, yet failed to impress me as a legendary Jedi. He was flat, not very characteristic. Too many stop and go things with him. He still was the part, just not outwards. Ewan McGregor was the perfect pic as Obi-wan. Again, here was a problem. It wasn't him, no. He was very underused. The script he was able to work with, well, he did a good job at
keeping whatever was workable in this very uninteresting story.
And ya, Jar-Jar, go away. The Vice Roys are nothing but a bunch of cowardly overgrown guppies out of water...hahaha....and why the heck were they in this movie? I understand a cowardly villan was ok, but three of them? Where was the Menace (Maul) for the majority? Oh, here and there. Coward federation guppies!

"Seal off the bridge!"
"Close the Blast Doors!"
"Where are those Droidikas?!"
"Send in the droid."
"I-dont-I don't know-"
"They're still coming through!"

Cowards!

2 most disapointing details, are:

Anakin (Jake Lloyd) should not have been picked for this film/part. He talks like a Nickelodeon show kid who you see on Saturday morning (cool, totally awesome, whoa!...stuff like that) and has no acting skills, and says, "This is tense!", or anything a kid from those morinig shows would say. This is Star wars, NOT Nickelodeon! If only Elijah Wood was young enough to play his part-see him as a kid? He is an actor !
very tense, fun, and great acting.

Why droids? Whatever happened to men fighting men? troopers vs. Gungans or Naboo people-that'd be better.....not....droids, droids....yawn.

"Roger, roger....."
"Uh oh.....blast 'em!"
"Halt-freeze! Uh, does not compute.....ZZZZZ....ZZZzzap....fzzzz."

Geese....., stupid droids.

Effects are good, and so is the best sabre duel scene ever.
Oh. Why bring back R2 and C3P0? So what is they were loved....i like 'em, but again? They should have made 2 other droids....too lazy and selling out....they thought without R2 and C3, this movie would sink. No. I'd love to see original droids. marketing....geeze.

Watto is hilarious!!

"MMMMMM....yes -NUBIAN....MMMMM"

And the meazly space battle was borrrring. Droid fighters? Wow...ooooh-scary......lol

What a waste.

Natalie Portman keeps becoming royal english accent, then loses it, gains it, loses it......
