Summary: Just hilarious
Review: First, take a look at Malachi's extremely funny review, I enjoyed it almost as much as the movie. The ironic attitude in this film is quite overwhelming; if you don't get it, you might end up not liking the film. But, anyone with a sense of humour and an IQ above 15 should be really entertained!

Summary: One of the Worst films ever made
Review: Ok, I didn't expect this to be a terrific movie but I though that it would be at least a fun Sci Fi film. It wasn't. Anyone who calls this movie smart or interesting realy needs to have their head examined.

Starship Troopers is maybe the worst Sci Fi film in existence. Despite the directors efforts to try to make a meaningful film out of it, it ends up looking like something a couple of 10 year olds wrote.

To begin with the entire cast looks like the have an IQ of 15 combined. Every one of them is a simple good looking teen anger who looks like they were rejected from a beach movie.

The film's story is even worse. One thing about it is that it tries to capture the feel of an actual war. Unfortunatly it never gets close to accomplishing this and most of the movie simply {shoot bugs, dialogue, shoot bugs, dialogue, shoot bugs, ect...}. The basic plot is simple; a meteor has been launched from the bug's home planet and killed many people on Earth. The army then decides to exterminate the bugs even though scientists are now claiming that the bugs may have attacked the humans as self-defense becuase humans were invading their space. One odd thing is that in most films the idea of men slaughtering another species would be viewed in a bad light. Not here. The entire movie is incredibly militaristic and about the honor that comes with surving.

The films fairly lame story isn't the least bit helped by it's aful dialogue and stupid scenes. One good example is the scene when a school friend of the hero wants to join the army. Becuase she is a woman the Chief Officer says she dooesn't have what it takes and then gets into a fight with her. After winning he decides to let her in becuase she has proven herself. Maybe this scene would be considered cool by a marine but I find it just to be simply moronic.

One would hope that the films one saving grace would be it's action sequences where humans battle the giant bugs. Unfortunatly while the special effects are well done, the scenes realy aren't terribly exciting.

Yet another off note is the way much of the film is presented. Alot of info about the war is shown through cyber-news reels that an unknown character is watching. After every bit of news the computer asks "Do you want to know more" and the view clicks yes and more this badly done excuse for a story is played. It's ironic becuase while the view clicks "yes I want to know more" the audience is thinking "No! Make the movie stop!"

Toward the end of the film the story gets so bad it's almost funny. The humans discover that the reason the bugs are winning is becuase there is a brain bug(yes that's its actual name) which is telling them how to fight. The brain bug gets smart by sucking the brains out of humans and eating them. It sounds like somthing out of a horror film from the 50s.

Starship Troopers manages to do everything wrong and is a shining example of how NOT to do a movie.

Summary: Humans battle large malevolent insectoid aliens.
Review: Starship Troopers is a war film which delivers a realistic depiction of warfare - more sufficiently than many films in the genre that contain more conventional elements - while non-ostentatiously encouraging enlightened social values, as well as rational morality. While the myopic average viewer may fail to see any qualities in Starship Troopers beyond those typical of the action/science-fiction genre, the film in fact, is an excellent war film. Starship Troopers is likely to attract disdain from both conservatives (for its social attitude) and liberals (for its political attitude). Perhaps both sides can learn something from this film if they approach it with an open mind.

Summary: I hate bugs too
Review: I normally do not enjoy too many Sci-Fi flicks outside of the Star Wars realm but this is an exception. The action here is great and there enough blood and guts to keep you dry-heaving for days. The computer graphics were tight even if the acting was not. Oh, and Denise Richards is in this movie. Isn't that enough to warrant 5 stars?

Summary: Ridiculous and stupid
Review: And there's nothing worse than stupid movies I actually enjoy. I was overwhelmed by the eye-candy, giggled a bit at the stupid and obvious irony of it all. I'm actually a bit angry at myself since I found this movie so entertaining. I usually have much better tastes.

This movie is either the work of genious or plain stupidity. But I didn't care, since watching the heroic efforts of our star carve a hole in the back of a giant acid spitting bug and throwing a gernade into its body cavity to explode green goo everywhere is just good enough.

This highly imaginative dribble has nothing really to do with the book. But it's one of those DVDs you find yourself doing frame-by-frame replays (for the 8th time). A must own DVD that really shows you what the technology is capable of. Watch it while your face is 1 foot from a 21" PC monitor and you'll be blown away.

Did I mention that I hate this movie?

Summary: 1 star is too much for it
Review: This SciFi movie is the worst one I've ever seen. Though it's a future but these poor troopers just used their hands and rifles to fight with the bugs. Hey, a weapon called "Tank" has been invented for almost 90 years. Also there's no a very good end. Lots of things were not finished when you see "The End". The 1 star is for its visual effect, though.

Summary: Would You Like To Know More?
Review: Sure the plot is not the best and the acting is not as good as in other films, but I think this is one of the best action movies ever made. First off, the special effects are amazing, the music is very good, which is why the sountrack is twenty bucks, and the bugs are awesome. This is the gorriest movie I've ever seen, probably because I haven't seen Private Ryan yet. This movie is really good none the less. If you are afraid of seeing humans brains or eye balls or guts or loose apendages, don't see this movie. If not, see it. It doesn't follow the novel very well, if at all. All the movie is about is teenagers fresh out of high school in the future, going into war with a race of 9-foot-tall P.O.ed ants because they nuked Buenos Aires. It's a great movie, and you should see it if you like those sorts of things; you know, death, fire, action, violence, (sex), and blood.

Summary: Another great science fiction movie
Review: A terrific movie that focuses on life on other planets. The idea of bugs was interesting yet I prefer humans instead. Great special effects and a good cast put out a quality movie

Summary: Starship Troopers neat, but like a Bev Hills 90210
Review: S.T. was a characterization of the orignal book, Starship Troopers. In order to make it easier to film the special armored jump suits in the story had to be "dumped". In order to be a 'chick' movie (an attmept that failed) they had to add cutesy female scenes. Before I get flamed, the women in the book were professional, intelligent starship captains - the best pilots. More women than men pilots. The nudity in the showers and bedroom scenes in the tent were not really necessary. It prevented me from taking my kid (11) who really wanted to see it. The scenes and graphics were really cool, but it's hard to but a book that spans several centuries (the characters don't age as they are at lightspeed or greater for decades in between battles). would rather have seen a stern Meg Ryan as the female lead, but it was supposed to be about young men and women losing everything they had and going to war.
