Summary: There's nothing great about the movie.
Review: How typical. Something extraterrestrial is coming to destroy earth and the United States has to save the earth. Sounds exactly like ID4, except ID4 was a lot more interesting and funny. The characters in Armageddon make me sick and I was hoping that they would all die. The Liv Tyler - Ben Affleck love affair is pretty stupid: who cares about them when the whole world is at stake? And Bruce Willis's sacrifice at the end was completely expected. Remember ID4 when that fighter pilot sacrificed his life to destroy the ship? Armageddon ripped it off. Take away the disgusting characters, the silly premise, the terrible dialogue, the breaking of the laws of physics and what do you have? Billy Bob Thorton, who is one ugly dude.

Summary: Armageddon outa here!
Review: Yes, "Armageddon" does have wall to wall action. And yet it still manages to be insufferably dull. Loud! Obnoxious! And would somebody please HOLD THAT CAMERA STILL!!!

Who's in which shuttle? Who's dead? Who's alive? Who cares? If this is the 90s answer to "Star Wars," someone please take me back to the 70s.

Summary: Armageddon is right!
Review: Why, God, Why! This all I have to say for this sorry excuse for a movie. They blow up Paris and Shanghai and New York! All of the world's culture is gone. The science is pathetic. For example, why does NASA allow the astronauts to walk off the shuttle and into their girl-friends arms after they've been in space. They should be feeling severe problems with moving. The flag-waving reaches unbearable proportions. After the first two hours we wonder if they save the world yet. Everybody is just stupid. The best actor is probably Dotty, the woman who has the asteroid named after her. Why is there a Maxim machine gun if the general said he didn't trust those retards with a potato gun? And he let them jack around with a nuclear bomb. Don't be surprised if Las Vegas is nuked for July Fourth fireworks. I won't continue on the lack of plot, lame and impossible science, and other fallacies.

Summary: This meteor should have destroyed all copies of this script.
Review: It's not supposed to be realistic. But the Indiana Jones movies, the Bond series, and other action movies that were just pop-corn movies had wit and intelligence. Indiana Jones was a fine combination of thrilling action and hilarious humor. This is unspeakable. First of all, an asteroid the size of Texas isn't very easy to miss. Even if you can only cover 3% of sky with the Hubble, you can see everything with the naked eye. We assemble a rag-tag crew of oil-drillers and send them off into space. The patriotism is excessive and insulting. The sterostypes are obvious and this film reeks with racism and sexism. I don't know why the NASA idiots think this will work and I don't care. After they destroy Europe the rest of the world just isn't interesting. I find it interersting how one man remarks that he doesn't trust those retards with a potato gun and a machine gun is on the asteroid. Why is there, by the way? I think I've finished. P.S-To rest of world, please don't hate us because of this film. Or should I say to China: Please don't bomb us?

Summary: Very memorable tribute to unlikey heroism from normal guys.
Review: Lots of people have criticized this movie for its wall-to-wall action, special effects, etc.

What I saw was a tale of men who tackled impossible odds and the lives they saved.

the scenes between Bruce Willis and Liv Tyler were soooo well done. He played a father who loved his daughter enough to do typically crazy father things (like shooting at her boyfriend)... ;-)

The cast was awesome. The actors stuck to their parts and fleshed them out...the characters themselves were believable. This made up for the unlikely ending (they won) and the questionable special effects (but hey, look at Start Wars sometime...).

I'd say, this is one helluva movie.

Summary: Movie Excellent - Criterion Version Worthless
Review: If you want to see a great action movie with some romantic overtones and some honest friendships between very different men then this is a great movie but take my advice and only buy the movie and not the criterion version. It advertises a humorous outtakes video and if you think cursing is funny then you will like it but that is all it has to offer. The commentaries do a lot of talking but don't really offer much detail in the way the movie was made. Ben Affleck comes off as a young smart aleck and you are better off buying just the movie, saving some money and enjoying some really great acting.

Summary: Have an Open-Mind and Watch
Review: Many critics and audiences panned this film for its 'stupidity' and unnecessary heroism. Well director Michael Bay made this film intentionally like that, he didn't want to make an action masterpiece, he wanted to make money and get good reaction from audiences. Sure it hasn't got a realistic plot/dialogue, but the honor, heroism, performances, fx, and most importantly action sequences are there and are great. Bruce Willis saved this film from being what critics call it. The heroic sequence at the end with Ben Affleck in a space-lift is one of his most memorable.

Summary: Please don't waste your money on this!
Review: I watched "Deep Impact" before seeing this movie and was very disappointed by "Armageddon". The makers of this film seemed to think all they had to do was have everyone in the cast continually shout at each other and show us lots bright flashes accompanied by loud bangs. I promise you this actually makes for a very boring and frustrating experience considering the potential for such a brilliant subject. Not only is the movie difficult to accept as pure entertainment, but anyone with a scientific interest will find many of the special effects unacceptable- For Example the Space Shuttle manouvering in space as if it were an aircraft within the Earths Atmosphere; and the Asteriod on which for part of the time gravity was very low being followed by a scene where it was apparently close to Earth Normal. Sorry, but even one star is being generous!
