Summary: The Lost Plot
Review: People, this movie is bad. Really bad. "The Lost World" has all the ingredients of a corporate-driven Hollywood sequel: barely-there plot, noisy special-effects, and wasted performances from talented actors. But the biggest crime of all is that this film is directed by a man who oughtta know better: Speilberg. I slept through a good part of this movie, waking up only when the dinosaurs were chasing some poor hapless fool. I've seen all of Speilberg's movies since 1990, and I like all but this one. Please, oh please, don't even bother to get this. It's so bad.

Summary: Kind of entertaining, but has big flaws
Review: The high points of this 2nd part of the Jurassic Park Trilogy are definitely the incredible special effects and beautiful scenery. If that is all you look for in a movie, than this is probably for you. However, there are plenty of low points here as well.First of all, this has numerous differences from the book version of The Lost World, as well as a couple of parts included that were in the original Jurassic Park book (such as the little girl on the beach part). So, if you are a huge fan of the book (as I am) and are looking for a direct adaptation, this is not it. There are characters missing, certain people are not dead that were in the book (don't want to give it away to anyone), and some plot points are quite different. But then again, the original Jurassic Park wasn't a direct adaptation either, and I liked that film (i'd give it 4 stars). Second, I found this movie to have a lot of very stereotypical characters and stilted dialogue. There's the "evil" head of InGen, the "evil" hunter guy (who Pete Postlewaite played very well, by the way), the electronics expert guy, Malcolm's daughter, etc. I found all of these people to be completely uninteresting. Also, I could have predicted everything that happens in the movie about 15 minutes before it happens, and in many cases, I could have done so right at the beginning of the film. That is, until the "first" ending of the movie, in which they escaped the island. If they had just ended the movie there (like it seemed like they were doing) and skipped the whole "second" ending, I would have given this at least 3 stars (I would still have knocked off at least one star for the girl's gymnastics ...and one for the annoying characters). But instead, they tacked on this ridiculous part with the T Rex rampaging through San Diego that was completely ridiculous. There were parts that made no sense (like the dinosaur gingerly avoiding a chain link fence and then crashing straight through a huge concrete wall of a building), and other parts that were just plain annoying (such as the kid and his family who's dog gets eaten and the T.Rex attacking a bus). So, if you only watch movies for special effects, than go ahead and get this. If you want an interesting plot, good dialogue and only one ending, don't get this.

Review: THE LOST WORLD; JURASSIC PARK actually fits in well with what was established in the original JURASSIC PARK, mostly in that the same film crew returned for the sequal and they were able to build up and add to what was established in the first movie. The two movies fit very well together continunity wise, something JP3 never bothered to do. I strongly disagree with reviewers who nit pick everything that they felt was wrong with these movies. The Jurassic Park movies currently number at three, with a fourth film now in development, and two of these movies have been very good. I hope the fourth one is as well.

Summary: The Lost World Has Been Found
Review: The original Jurassic Park was a visually stunning, action gripping movie that made millions of people glad that dinosaurs are extinct. This movie will make those same people write their congressmen and ask for a law banning the cloning of dinosaurs. Just like the first movie, The Lost World takes its time to set up the characters involved, giving the audience time to get to know Dr. Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) again and to meet the other characters involved. Of course, just as soon as we are comfortable with them we are then thrown into the raptor den (so to speak). Once the action starts, it is nearly non-stop through the end of the movie. Forget finding time to go get you some popcorn during the movie... it'll be hard enough for you to find time to take a breath during it. Many people were critical about the "T-Rex loose in the United States" scenes at the end of the movie. Could that whole sequence been left out without diminishing from the movie? Yes. Does the fact that the sequence is in the movie diminish the movie? No. In fact, some of the funniest lines and scenes come from this U.S. sequence. It is clear that this was meant, in part, to be a spoof of the whole Godzilla genre (as evidenced by the Japanese men running for their lives in one scene). Now... while I have said that the U.S. rampage is a lot of fun and doesn't detract from the movie, it does seem to me that someone really goofed in setting up how the dinosaur gets loose off the ship and starts rampaging through San Diego. When the ship crashes into the port, pay close attention when everyone starts inspecting the ship. Things just didn't add up for me, and I think you'll understand what I mean when you see it. That being said, this little gaff can easily be overlooked and does not, in any way, detract from the movie as a whole. So hold on to your seat and don't shine a light at the TV screen. You definitely don't want this T-Rex to see that light and come charging through your screen to get to you. Just let him do his thing on screen, and sit back and enjoy the ride.

Summary: Low Point Spieldberg's career; High Point in Goldblum's
Review: Don't get me wrong, it's a great movie, but for a Spieldberg film, it bites the dust. It is very LOOSELY based on the book. Where's Levine? Hammond is alive? A rescue mission? Nuh-Uh. he movie is nothing compared to the GREAT book. Ian Malcom and a rescue squad go to an island to rescue his ex, Sara [in the book, SHE comes after HIM]. His black [?] daughter sneaks on [in the book, she is white, her BEST FRIEND is black, who also sneaks on in the book]. He never figures out what InGen was doing on Isla Sorna! Meanwhile, some bad dudes are transporting dinosaurs to San Diego [might be in the book, might not've reached it]. I know for a fact the San Diego scene is not in the book. Overall, I really liked this fantastic movie. It is great, but not based on the book!

Summary: Don;t mess with nature!!
Review: Not quite as good as the original, another group of scientists return to the island only to discover a group of hunters are also visiting. They capture a dinosaur which manages to escape and the T-Rex, in a Disneyland-like sequence, goes crazy in American suburbia. It is recaptured and returned with a formal message to the viewer, don't mess with mother nature!!

Review: ANYONE WHO DOESN'T LIKE THIS FANTASTIK MOVIE, DOESN'T DESERVE TO WATCH ANY OF THE THREE MOVIES, HOW CAN ANYBODY NOT LIKE THIS MOVIE, EV'RYTHING ABOUT IT IS PERFECT, THE ROLES PLAYED BY JEFF G, JULIANNE M, AND THE YOUNG TALENT VANESSA LEE CHESTER IS OUTSTANDING.
THIS IS TO EV'RYBODY WHO DOENS'T LIKE THIS FANTASTIK MOVIE, ALL YA PEOPLE WHO HATE THIS MOVIE IS: ...MISUNDERSTANDERS OF JURASSIC PARK. WATCH IT AGAIN, THEN MAYBE YOU'LL UNDERSTAND.

Summary: Spielberg's underrated film
Review: The sequel to the immensely popular Jurassic Park (1993) is an exciting adventure starring Jeff Goldblum, Vince Vaughn, Julianne Moore and Pete Postlethwaite. The film picks up four years after the incident at Jurassic Park, where a corporate businessman Peter Ludlow (Arliss Howard) plans to take dinosaurs off the second island (Isla Sorna, where dinosaurs have been breeding) and bring them to a theme park in San Diego. Spielberg knows what the audience wants; the film has more dinosaurs, even better CGI and impressive animatronic dinosaurs from the maestro Stan Winston. The action throughout the film is exciting and while not as astonishing as Jurassic, the effects are first-rate. John William's music for the film is suitably jungle -driven, with a dark and exhilarating score that fits the film's tone. There are problems, the tagged- on ending with the T. Rex stomping through San Diego is silly, and although the action is good, the story isn't one of Spielberg's best. That said, the principal cast are fine, especially Goldblum as Malcolm ("Ooh, aah, that's how it always starts, and then later the running and screaming") and Postewaite as Roland Tembo, a game hunter intent on shooting one of the Tyrannosaurs. Silly in parts, it's still an exciting adventure movie, with enough action and light humour to satisfy audiences. The DVD extras are great, with a 50 minute 'making of', deleted scenes, trailers for all 3 Jurassic movies, a huge amount of conceptual drawings, storyboards, a featurette 'The world of Jurassic Park', marketing, posters and toys, production notes and web links. Great stuff.

Summary: 'Saur Winner!
Review: Hurry! Go click "Add to Cart!" This one was SO MUCH better than the original--it had WAY more action! I don't want to sit through a dinosaur movie to learn about CLONING--I want to see the dinosaurs chase people!!! My favorite part was when the T-Rex was hiding on the boat, and then jumped out to get everyone when it crashed on the dock. How cool is it that the T-Rex killed everyone on board, then snuck back into his hiding place when it got close to land? The answer: VERY cool. Ian Malcolm's daughter was a great addition to the cast--I stood up and cheered when she pummeled the velociraptor. It made me want to take gymnastics lessons! You go, girl!!! The only part of this movie that didn't bowl me over was Vince Vaughn's character. I thought he was too smarmy. The director must have thought so too, since Mr. Vaughn disappeared without explanation halfway through the movie - no big loss. I liked Mr. Vaughn much better in the "Psycho" remake. I also think it was smart to completely ignore the island from the first movie. Even though they left dinosaurs alive at the end of "Jurassic Park," it was like a cool conspiracy that there would be another island with even MORE species on it. Since "Lost World" was a hundred times better than the first movie, I can only assume "Jurassic Park III" is the best one of all!

Summary: Pretty good follow up.
Review: While it's not as good as the original film in the series, it miles better than part 3 for the sheer fact that it's done with some class and some sheer excitement. Jeff Goldblum is always a joy to watch, and he almost alone makes this sequel as fun as the original, let's not forget those fantastic special effect that literally gives us the moneys worth. Check it out.
