Rating: Summary: BASED ON A TRUE STORY Review: Based on the New York times #1 best seller The hot zone. This movie is all about the spread of the LEVEL 4 (most painful, dangerous and uncurable ebola virus.) Most of this movie is very true including the lose monkey, the intro bombing and More! This could really happen! If an air born virus hit one person and that person got on a plane it is said the U.S. would be wiped out in months. THE HOT ZONE IS ALL TRUE this is about 70% true. Of corse there is no cure for ebola..Yet. And these are fictional people but its as close to the real thing as it gets! This is a wonderful story and as scary as getting EBOLA. muhahaha happy viewing
Rating: Summary: Entertaining Flick Review: This was a pretty fun movie. I mean, it wasn't real deep or genius, but it's really entertaining. It's about a deadly virus in Africa that is spread by monkeys originally. Once you get the virus, you're dead in about 2 days. As a desperate attempt to stop this virus, a monkey with the virus is illegally smuggled into the U.S. to be tested and to possibly stop this virus. However, the monkey is released into the streets, infects one guy, then the virus spreads incredibly rapidly and infects the whole town. Everyone is dropping like flies. Then, the main character, Dustin Hoffman's, wife gets the virus. In order to save her and the whole town, Dustin Hoffman really needs to catch this monkey before it spreads the virus even further. This movie's a classic. If you haven't seen it, you really should.
Rating: Summary: Watch Again because of SARS Review: A few reviewers say this can't happen; well, OK, calling in the military is extreme. But after all, it is a movie, so how about allowing a bit of creative license? Now we are in March 2003 & we have a new viralent & contagious disease called SARS. And we don't know where it comes from or how to treat it. And just like in Outbreak, it has spread fast because it's been carried by airline travellers. And the medical staff get sick & die, too. Maybe this movie isn't too far off the mark? Maybe the basic theme of this movie is worth looking at again.
Rating: Summary: A bad movie Review: This movies is a scarecrow; it is very unrealistic; the atmosphere is wrong, look at the soldiers, their behavior etc.
Rating: Summary: Decent, good cast, but to much fiction involed..... Review: Many people think this movie is something that could actully happen and many are kinda scared of it becuase of that but many dont know the history behind it like they chose to make a movie out of a creative script with more diologe involed instead of the REAL story of the almost outbreak...In case your wondering The Motaba vires is a FICTIONAL vires it was based arund the Ebola and Maunberg vires the only difrence is the Motaba is airborn...They also chose this movie over the hit true life thriller book "The Hot Zone" (which is a VERY good book)and twisted it into a almost to much fictional plot.I love the good casting, Exalent acting I cant complane their...But lets get in touch with reality real quick, You think the Milatary would nuke a city!? what would be the goerment excuse for that?? someone acadently pushed the "do not push button"? All in all yes this is something that could happen and shows the fears of biological warfare...I suggest buying it the DVD is decent, Shape picture and sound.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining, but nothing new Review: Above the hype and big-name actors this movie boasts comes the truth to all movies: the plot is what makes the movie. Although the movie's actors do a good job in their roles, what is missing is a strong, unique plot. Instead the film is filled to the brim with over-used cliches, side-plots and sudden waves of enlightenment (i.e. when Dustin Hoffman suddenly "figures out" where to find the host). As far as the technical side goes, the average viewer would not have a clue what was realistic about the film and what wasn't. For those that have some knowledge in the area of virological pathology, there are obvious flaws. You may say I'm getting overly critical about this, but then again, when a studio can afford to hire such an all-star lineup, Dustin Hoffman, Rene Russo, Kevin Spacey, Morgan Freeman, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Donald Sutherland, you think they could also afford to make sure that the film's technical espects were on target as well; that they weren't just making stuff up. Overall the movie is very entertaining. It has solid acting and the plot touches on a subject not brought to the public attention on very many occasions. But the cliches, the countless close-calls, the radical recoveries...they all just add up to be just another action film with the same old ending. In my opinion, Richard Preston's "The Hotzone" would be a much better storyline for a book. Why? Because it actually happened.
Rating: Summary: A must-see. Now than ever Review: Okay, Wolfgang Petersen's "Outbreak" was kind of a top hit back in 1995 and gained two award nominations for Kevin Spacey and Cuba Gooding Jr. as supporting cast... But don't let you worry about those trivia. Don't be annoyed or taken aback by some overly dramatized scenes either (the chopper chase...). One thing for sure: in the post 911 era, this film is a must-see for anyone who is concerned about the threat of biochemical warfare (and who isn't anyway?). Call it a suspense, a political thriller, an action drama... whatever you like, just don't miss it.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Entertainment Review: This movie is probably one of my favorites. The actors are wonderful, though i don't really like Cuba Gooding Jr's corny acting....it's still a great movie. Dustin, Kevin, and Rene were outstanding in this film. If you want to see a truly good drama/action film, then you should watch this one. You'll love it. But i doubt you haven't seen it already!~
Rating: Summary: simply brillant Review: just when you thought your adrenaline reached its highest levels, you find out that it ain't over until the movie is over... The cast is superb and the acting is more than professional. Get the movie!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Review: I bought this Outbreak DVD because I had a small cameo role as a Korean Seaman Chulso Lee. However, I was surprised to see the exceptional quality of DVD was. Everything was so perfect. As far as the movie goes, it was bit long but I liked it.
