Rating: Summary: Dissapointing, all special effects, no movie. Review: How sad, good performances, but this seems indicative of most movies of late- "lets spend all the money on special effects and for about the human actors". I was so saddened that this was the late great Phil Hartmans last movie. Cute idea, but the (countless) explotions just don't carry this (you thought Gremlins had violence for violence sake??)
Rating: Summary: Great action in a small version Review: It is a great movie for you and youre kids! It is action with cool (bad)soldiers and sweet (good)monsters! The voise of Tommy Lee Jones is just perfekt for the role of the hard and cold officer Chip Hasard! The movie takes place in a boys home! He has (accidently) gotten the toys, that have one little problem! They are not just toys! They are warmachines! And a war abrupts in the kids house! And the soldiers have only one objectiv! Destroy all monsters!
Rating: Summary: It's an entertaining movie...... Review: ....but I don't suggest you view it with children under the age of 13 because they will most likely lose interest. We rented it and thought it was pretty funny and entertaining on an adult-level. It has a lot of violence in it (kind of a "Gremlin-style" attitude)... but the work put into the animation is excellent and worth seeing. I really thought the quality of production was high level. All in all it was a good movie to watch on a Friday night while cuddling up on a comfortable couch. It tempts you to use your imagination and have some fun.
Rating: Summary: Great effects! Review: I saw this movie in theaters and thought it was great! The effects were unbelievable and had some pretty good actors in it. I thought it was good they made a dedication to Phil Hartman at the end, too. It was exciting, but kind of predictable at times. But still, overall, it was a good film, worth the $16!
Rating: Summary: It was an exciting movie. Review: I liked this movie 'cause it proved that we still have some imagination in our country. We haven't gon completely over to the point that every movie has to be covered in blood and guts.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT Review: I am 45, my husband is 35, my daughter is 13, and grandson 5. We were all glued to the tv. It was original and very exciting - which an old woman hates to admit about a kid's show!
Rating: Summary: No Reedming Value Review: I saw this at the theatre last summer and was sorely disappointed. It is a very mean-spirited movie and the values it espouses are not what I would want for my kids or anyone else's. The only characters with any decency of morals are the underdog toys whose names I can't remember. But I couldn't garner any sympathy whatsoever for any of the human characters or the soldiers. From the very beginning in which the boy acquires the toys in a dishonest manner, to the way people and toys treat each other throughout the movie, I was simply disgusted. This is a movie of excess; unfortunately, it is excessively poor.
Rating: Summary: lots of action and fun Review: I found it very fun with little toys trying to kill the humans. All the names are very creative like slamfist and nick nitro I don't know why it is rated pg-13 all that is happening is a bunch of little toys getting fryed and thats about all there is wrong with it . My brother likes to say small soldiers is just toy story gone dramaticly wrong.
Rating: Summary: Fun, and excitement, and funny Review: Small soldiers is a Gremlins meets Toy Story. The film is fun and exciting. The effects are awesome. It is also nice to see the dedication to Phil Hartmen after the credits. I would have rated the film higher if it wasn't 'so' much like Gremlins. But director Dante does a good job telling the tale of the good and evil toys.
Rating: Summary: Not recommended for children!!!! Review: We recently rented this movie and what a disappointment. My kids 8 years and 5 years were not at all entertained. In fact my five year old questioned the dangers of the power line scene. While I know movies like this are "make believe" I still think it was way too violent and some of the scenes gave a very false impression on the reality of danger. Do not waste time, money or your child's interests on this one.
