Summary: Spectacular... my new favorite movie!
Review: What can I say about Lord of the Rings that hasn't already been said? It is a beautiful movie, capturing the very essence of Tolkien's magical world in three hours that seem to fly by. I was initially hesitant about seeing this film, feeling sure that they would deviate from the story line and couldn't possibly due justice to the books. I had no idea what to expect - and was quite blown away!
While some details are changed in the adaptation, the film remains true to the story. Of course, it is easy to pick through any adaptation and say, "This was different and that was different and I don't know why they changed THAT" - but no film can stay perfectly true to the book, word for word, and Lord of the Rings manages to contain all the emotion and power of the story; the minor changes don't disrupt the flow at all.
The casting is superb, particularly the two pivotal characters, Frodo and Sam. We feel through Frodo's suffering his determination to do the right thing, and Sam's loyal devotion to Frodo. Lighthearted Merry and Pippin and stouthearted Gimli offer comic relief in some of the more nerve-racking scenes of the movie. We are intrigued by the mysterious Aragorn, and see Legolas is the epitome of Elvish gracefulness and watchfulness. Sean Beam plays Boromir, troubled with the evil lure of the Ring, yet a heroic member of the company to the end. Cate Blanchett portrays a bewitching Galadriel, and Ian McKellan is a masterful Gandalf - can a person be wise, powerful, great, and lovable?
The scenery is pure eye candy, the music appropriate without being distracting, but most of the magic lies in the pure drama of Tolkien's masterful tale of good versus evil. Even though I read the first two books shortly before seeing the movie, and basically knew what would happen next, I found myself on the edge of my seat during the entire movie. I became completely caught up in the enthralling adventure, and was sorry when it ended. My verdict? Lord of the Rings is a must see. I am 15, and I didn't think the violence was that bad - no worse than a lot of other movies-but it is a little scary, so I wouldn't recommend it for younger children. I also suggest reading at least the first book before seeing the movie; you can enjoy the show without trying to keep up with the plot, and the ending will make more sense. The only hard part will be waiting for the next movie to come out!

Summary: Probably couldn't have been better!!
Review: What can I say about the Fellowship Of The Ring that isn't blatantly obvious in the movie? This film ROCKED!!! Sure it left out some stuff, but what can anyone expect when a 500+ page novel is turned into a movie? I just came from the movie theatre and I promise you - nothing that was terribly needed was left out. It was to be expected that a fantasy epic like this was going to have some mind-boggling special effects. But what may not have been generally expected was some really good (and sometimes great) ACTING! I was very pleasantly surprised. Ian McKellen (Gandalf) was absolutely spectacular, Ian Holm (Bilbo) was also wonderful, and even Liv Tyler (who's normally an "okay" actress at best) delivered something memorable as Arwen (elven daughter of Elrond). Elijah Wood, the rest of the hobbits, and the other characters were also very good and believable (except maybe Gimli the Dwarf, but you decide). I was even a little teary-eyed a couple of times during the flick. It was that good. It had a great blend of action, humor, and a little drama - not unlike the Star Wars films. The quality of the story itself needs no confirmation. Thanks Tolkien! The Orcs were wonderfully hideous, the Elves were totally angelic, and...well...I can go on for hours. I'm sure that you're going to see this movie regardless of anything I have to say. So, just do what you're gonna do anyway, and SEE THIS MOVIE. If you walk out of the theatre disappointed, then please get some help!

Summary: A True Master Piece DVD!
Review: What can I say but awesome! This movie is one of the best DVDs out there, in both DVD quality & movie quality! The movie is based on Tolkiens Lord Of The Rings, and has been done in episodes, as the book are done. The movie leaves off, to where The Two Tower will pick up. The movie really dosnt have an offical ending in a sense. Peter Jackson filmed all 3 movies (Lord Of The Rings, The Two Towers, & Return Of The King) at once, in a course of 2 years. Peter Jackson really went the extra mile to make this movie as good as it can be! The cast is very strong, and special effects are top notch.If your not familar with the story of Lord Of The Rings, you will probably need to watch the film a few time to pick up things youve missed. The story is catching & will leave you hungry for the next film. The 5.1 Dolby EX sound track, is probably the best in a DVD Ive heard! It really shines through on a true 5.1 surround unit. The picture qulaity is top notch as well! This is a must have DVD!

Summary: Should be mandatory
Review: What can I say that hasn't been said already? This is quite possibly the best action film ever made, and the DVD only makes it better. This and The Matrix should be in EVERYONE's DVD collection, and I mean EVERYONE. Special features are great, as is the bonus footage. Unlike the pointless "Special Editions" of Star Wars and ET, I can't tell what was originally in the movie and what wasn't; it all blends in perfectly. Simply outstanding.

Summary: Classic literary piece becomes a classic piece of cinema!
Review: What can I say that would convey my enthusiastic satisfaction and instigation to the reader of this to go see this film? Would me writing that this film (trilogy) is truly one that I believe will be in the pantheon of great cinema masterpieces help? Or how about this? Try to imagine the pressures of bringing one of the most beloved series of books of all time to the big screen. It must have been enormous! Just think of whom the director, Peter Jackson, had to satisfy here... You have the devote Tolkien fans and the family descendants who want the film to keep true to the heart and soul of the books. Then you have the movie production company, and the general movie-going public who want a blockbuster style film that rakes in the money. And lastly you have the critics and Award giving institutes that measure films 'value' to the world of film. I guess it's still a little early to say it (but what the heck, right?) but I think P.J. scored on all 3 accounts. Tolkien aficionados (I'd like to include myself in this category) were generally pleased on P.J.'s interpretation of the story, and while keeping to the outline of the story it was appreciated that he added some flare here and there for a bit of a pleasant surprise. I'm sure that the general public and the production company are more than pleased. LOTR has already broken into the top ten biggest grossing movies of all time, so obviously people are going to see it, and digging into their wallets for more. And critics have raved P.J.'s style and storytelling capability that he has richly brought to the screen, and has at least been recognized by the various Awards factions with multiple nominations and wins already. So what's the bottom line here? This is truly movie making magic at it's finest, and something not to miss. Whether you're a hardcore fan of the books, or just looking for a good film to watch -- this is it. Sure, you're not going to please everyone; that's why there's opinions...just like this review I'm writing. Heck I know people who would not even begin to comprehend this film, and not because it's complex. But you'll have the few who dissent in everything, which is fine and even a good thing -- keeps the one being criticized on their toes, so they can do better the next time. Lastly, I'm glad that something of this Epic magnitude can be made in this day and time that seems to have gotten it all right. I've currently seen the film on the big screen three times, and would love to go again. And finally, Mr. George Lucas... I hope you took some notes on this film. Cheers Peter!

Summary: The best gets... better?
Review: What can I say. The movie itself is one of the greatest epics to hit the silver screen in our time. The extended edition just shows the audience the enormity of the project... so you can get a scope of the time, effort, and scale that it took on. You cannot fully appreciate this wonderful movie without the platinum edition. 5 stars hands down.

This film should have won all of it's nominations. This DVD will be the prized possesion of my DVD collection. I cannot wait till the second film will come out and also the Special Extended Edition of the movie. The score by Howard Shore is one of the best I've ever heard. Better than some of my favorite composer John Williams, has made. This is a masterpeice that you will want to experience over and over again.

Summary: words just don't come close
Review: What can I say? Its the Lord of the Rings. I've been waiting for this movie since I was ten and it really lived up to my expectations. When the started the movie and Gandalf entered Hobbiton I had a grin like a six year old in Disney World. If you haven't seen it, go, I beg of you, you don't know what you are missing. Even if you aren't a book person, this movie is for everyone.
