Summary: Good movie, so so DVD
Review: The movie I'd already owned, in VHS format. I liked the movie. I think this trilogy is less about the characters and more about the world that they live in, and thus the movies focus on that. Also, it's about an 8 year old boy - so it's written that way. It's not nessisarily an adult movie. And when I look at these facts, it becomes a better one for me. I was vaguely dissapointed that there wern't more cool features that came with the DVD, but just getting it was enough for me. I figure when he releases all 6 in 2015 (my safe estimate!) it will be a vast improvement.

Summary: The DVD is better

Summary: OK
Review: The movie is OK, but not excellent. The performances are mostly bad and wooden, and Brett Roberts is cool, and I didn't really care for most of the characters. Yoda was way to grouchy and mean, and Anakin was a horrible actor. The was way to much fake CGI and I thought the special effects were laughably bad, because the whole movie looks like a cartoon or a computer game.

By the way, Brett Roberts is very cool.

Pretty boring also, not much action, what action there was was very unsatisfying, and Brett Roberts is cool.

Overall, not worth the time, but Brett Roberts is still cool.

What's happening homies. Yo G! I speak nonsense recials!

Summary: Now if only the Indiana Jones trilogy would come out on DVD.
Review: The movie itself is decent, albeit doesn't have quite the "wow" factor of the previous Star Wars movies. And maybe it's just me, but shouldn't ships from EARLIER in time look more primitive than movies from the original trilogy? I mean, the Naboo starfighters look very futuristic when compared to clunkers like the Y-Wing, which were developed LATER! I'll probably at least rent the DVD to see the special features.

Summary: Just vanilla
Review: The movie itself was actually pretty good, but when held to the same standards as the original three Star Wars movies it lacked the same oomph. Lucas himself, admitted that he was a little rusty in the Star Wars universe and it showed in some of the choices for the movie. Jar-Jar Binks. That said it is still a decent movie and a definite must buy, if only to eventually own all of the series.

Summary: Heroism, Political Intrigue, and Fast-paced action.
Review: The movie lives up to its title. Episode I begins with two Jedi Knights arriving at Naboo to help end a conflict. Even at the beginning, Obi-wan hints of a wider, amorphous, and more sinister force operating behind the scene. This phantom or cryptic menace is embodied in the mysterious, shrouded figure and the demonic-looking Darth Maul. Their activities threaten the authority of the Jedi Council and the lives of the inhabitants of Naboo.

While the inhabitants of Naboo are fighting for their survival, there is a second dual in the Senate of the Republic. It is none other than a grasp for the leadership position. I will only comment that the affairs on Naboo and on the Senate 'floor' are intimately connected. Queen Amidala, unbeknownst to herself and others, becomes a pawn for Senator Palpatine. Thus, it is possible to connect this senator to the mysterious, shrouded figure. Of course, people familiar with Star Wars know the actual relationship between them.

Besides targeting Naboo, this phantom menace also poses a threat to the Jedi Knights. The activities of the evil side of the force, embodied by the Sith or Darth Maul, are shrouded from the probing minds of the Jedis. But it is certain, as the last scene of the movie reveals, that the dark side of the force has not been vanquished, despite Obi-wan's efforts, and will remain a threat to all Jedis of the present and future.

I am very impressed with the special effects, and especially the interaction between Jar-Jar and other characters that are both human and generated by computers.

The battle between the two Jedi Knights and Darth Maul is the embodiment of the timeless struggle between good and evil. With special effects and a dramatic piece of musical composition, the battle can only be described as apocalyptic.

Jake Lloyd satisfactorily portrays the human side of Darth Vader. Anakin Skywalker is not a semihuman, callous individual, but rather he has a whole gambit of human emotions. He is an adventurous, inventive, resourceful, fearful, and compassionate boy. It is Anakin Skywalker who enables Queen Amidala to continue on her journey to seek relief for her people.

If considered by itself, Episode I is complete. A problem is posed at the beginning and is resolved at the end, albeit the problem is only immediate. And the fates of the main characters - Quig-non, Obi-wan, the inhabitants of the Naboo, and Anakin - are known.

Summary: Poor Characterization is a Great Spoil-All
Review: The movie looks fine until this Jar-Jar Binks character shows up. The stupidity of this character completely turns me off. It makes the whole movie childish. More logical that such a character dies in battle. Should rename him as Jar-Jar Jinx.

Wonder what Lucas saw in JJB. Let's hope we don't see any such character in future episodes or it will be another waste of time and money.

Summary: not as bad as you might think
Review: The movie might not have been the creme de la creme of star warts movie (in my opinion it was still better than jedi) but how can you not be exited over the dvd release of a star wars movie? It is why i bought a player in the first place. Sure, Fight Club and Toy Story 2 are good discs, but even though the movies might be better, they are nothing compared to any star wars film. My sound system is ready.

Summary: Watchable, but bad acting ruins the movie
Review: The movie on the whole manages to paint a wonderful picture of the world before the evil empire takes control. The all star cast do a good job, but it is not enough to overcome the flat acting of Jake Lloyd. The special effects are wonderful and the battle scenes surpass the first three. Unfortunately, there's a lot of history and myth to the star wars universe. If the first three episodes of star wars didn't exist, the movie would get a higher rating. The movie is entertaining and fun, but sadly lacks depth and mystery.

Summary: Star Wars I
Review: The movie was alright, but had Inconsistencies. Like Needing to do a blood test to see if they had the Force in them ? Darth Vader could feel Obi Wan when he was on the Death Star. And Jar-JAR What a Joke !!! The putz was on the show 85 minutes longer than he needed to be. If he is in the next chapter, It is because he needs to suffer a brutal Death for everyone to see for dealing with that idot in the Phantom Menance.
