Summary: Excellent DVD-Ten Cuts Above Previous Toho Releases
Review: Although this DVD has "dubtitles", meaning the subtitles are based on the English language dubbing and not the original Japanese language translation, this dvd is a major improvement over previous releases. First of all, the quality of the dubbing is improved over previous releases, the original Japanese soundtrack is included(for us true G-fans), and the special effects far surpass those of campy Godzilla releases past. The same applies to the new release "Godzilla vs. Megaguirus". The difference is GMK brings back the darkness and spirit of the original "Gojira" from 1954. This is a must see for anyone who likes Godzilla (or doesn't) and shows what true scifi really is. Let's hope that their next time out, with "Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla", Sony-TriStar introduces true subtitles instead of "dubtitles". This is the only improvement they could make over over this new release. Three cheers for a near perfect try. Let's perfect it next time out. A highly recommended release. -Michael Ditkowsky

Summary: ONE OF THE BEST GODZILLA FILMS EVER!
Review: For true G-fans, this is a MUST OWN DVD! 4 Monsters for the price of 1. Godzilla, Mothra, Baragon & Ghidorah kick butt! The action is well paced, the monster battle scenes are great, the special effects have improved (check out the new mothra) however, THIS Godzilla is nasty. THIS Godzilla kills people. Yeah! Flatenning & squishing is BACK in the house. If you have a home theater system, CRANK IT UP & enjoy dolby digital 5.1 sound. Kudos to Columbia Tri-Star video for releasing this soon to be Kaiju classic as well as giving fans the option to enjoy it in English or Japanese w/subtitles! Looking forward to the upcoming Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla.

Review: A reasonably good movie as posted previously. I would like to say, that the remastered US release has an excellent picture and good sound. This is a *much* sharper picture than the imported version.

Summary: Godzilla DVDs - The Way We Deserve Them!
Review: There's plenty of reviews here and elsewhere that talk about what a fine and unique film this is. If you enjoyed the original Godzilla:KOTM and the G movies of the 60s, odds are you'll really enjoy this one.But the big news is that the GMK and G vs. Megaguirus DVDs represent the first time that those of us in the States have a chance to get legit Region 1 G movies on DVD with features such as original Japanese language (w/ "dubtitles", alas), widescreen anamorphic format, Japanese and English Dolby Digital 5.1, and an image quality that rivals (actually exceeds IMHO) the original Toho Region 2 release. Big kudos to Sony and CTHE for going further than usual with these releases. The fans appreciate your respect! Now, for the release of "GxMG", if they can go a bit further by adding original trailers, some special features and subtitles that follow the original script a little closer, that'll be heaven for a U.S. G fan! Happy 50th birthday, Godzilla!!

Summary: Antidote to campy Godzilla
Review: If you think of Godzilla as a laughable campy relic of the 60s and 70s, then watch this movie. It is as scary as a giant monster movie can get. Like the 90s Gamera movies this movie really gives a sense of what it would be like to be a human being amidst the awesome destruction brought on by giant monsters. The special effects are great (no obvious remote control tanks here), the characters are interesting, and the defending monsters sympathetic. Godzilla, on the otherhand, is a truly fearsome, malevolent and powerful engine of destruction. As opposed to the other people who whine about Godzilla being turned into the "bad guy" and "King Ghidorah" being made good, if you don't like it, then don't watch it. I applaud Toho for treating their post 2000 Godzilla movies as individual stand-alone sequels (except for the most recent three which were wdesigned as a trilogy) to the original 1954 Godzilla, and found the changes made to what we've come to expect in Godzilla movies refreshing rather than formulaic (and much better than the boring 1980s-90s G films)G-films we're all used to.To be frank, the continuity of the previous two series of Godzilla films was one of their most lacking, and inconsistent, features. Watch it in the original Japanese language with subtitles, and be thankful that these terrific recent Godzilla movies are finally being released respectfully here in the U.S..

Summary: The best Godzilla movie in 40 years.
Review: Wow! What a refreshing new direction to take the Godzilla series in. Godzilla is back and meaner than ever. This can quite possibly be the best Godzilla movie since 1964's Godzilla vs. The Thing. One of the most surprising elements of this film is that is has the look of one of the earlier Godzilla films. I'll explain. The shots of the Japanese countryside with the Fall colors is reminisant of "Ghidrah- The Three Headed Monster". Also, alot of shots during the monster battle scenes are taken from quite a distance away which was another trait of early Toho productions.
The special effects are the best the series has offered with dazzling explosions and colors.
This Godzilla film really sets itself apart from the entire series by being quite different from all the rest. Instead of science fiction it plays its hand at fantasy and it works.
To all serious Godzilla fans this film should always be considered a milestone and a stong contender for one of the best in the series. If I was to introduce someone to the Godzilla series, I would begin with this.
This is the Sgt. Peppers of Godzilla Movies!!

Summary: Good, but no.
Review: Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack is a good film, but not better than Godzilla vs. Megaguirus. This film, in my opinion, had problems: 1. The monster designs, with the exception of Baragon who had a cool design. As for Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah... UGH!!! Godzilla had white eyes and a large belly, Mothra has too long of her legs, and King Ghidorah.. boy his design was ugly! 2. "World War II spirits?" Give me a break! 3. and most horrific of them all... KING GHIDORAH IS A GOOD GUY!!! I liked him better when he was a bad guy! However, I know some things that are positive: 1. Music. The music in this film was powerful and sweet! 2. Godzilla vs. Baragon. This fight was awesome! and 3. A human or should I say the Admiral figured out a weak spot to destroy Godzilla. That's the first time since fifty years ago when Dr. Serizawa destroyed Godzilla with the oxygen destroyer. The DVD has Japanese tracks and English Dubbed tracks and great audio and picture quality, but that still not stopping me. I still think this movie was not that great. However, most G-fans like this film, so they would watch this. And a little FYI: There is no such thing as dubtitles. If you set the film in Japanese and take off the English captions, you get a Japanese only film. It's crazy, but it's like seeing a movie in Japan. There is no dubtitles for the Japanese tracks, just the captions. Thanks!
