Summary: A must buy for collectors...
Review: This movie has become my favorite Scifi. Milla Jovovich is a beautiful actress. Bruce Willis does it again by delivering a fantastic performance.

My version has both widescreen and normal formats. Side A has a widescreen format (recommended) suitable for wide screen TVs. Side B has a 4:3 format.

Highly recommended-

Summary: How does one improve upon perfection?
Review: This movie was a great sci-fi futuristic adventure, dependent on its great plot rather than on senseless violence and vulgarity to catch the viewer's attention. The casting was great, the music was great, the trailers/teasers created suspense months before the movie's date of release were great, and the story was amazing. Bravo! I highly recommend this movie to anyone looking for a great story, and believe this will be a cult classic in the days to come.

Summary: Not all its cracked up to be
Review: I can't believe all the positive reviews I am reading here at Amazon. The movie has some good directing, a nice performance from Milla, and a few good special effects, but little else. There is so little originality here. Why do those ships look like Star Wars' Star Destroyers? Why do the bad guys have British accents (ala the Empire)? Why do we have various Blade Runner elements, i.e., the flying cars, the eye imagery, Milla doing back flips ala Darryl Hannah. This movie tries to be a tribute to those movies, but never succeeds at it. Chris Tucker's performance finally puts the nail in the coffin, as his character is so damn annoying, and on screen way too much. Finally the concept of Korben being in "love" with Laylu doesn't make sense. What is he in love with, just her body? Is that how the world gets saved?

Milla's performance is quite good and the visual imagery is pretty strong, but theres not enough here to make this movie very memorable.

Summary: Fantastic movie!
Review: The Fifth Element is one of the three fantastic sci-fi movies that came out in 1997: Starship Troopers, Mars Attacks! and this one. All three have a very special kind of humour that is far away from mainstream. That's perhaps why all of them made less money than Godzilla. But they're great. The Fifth Element is a visual feast that will excite you - or you're perhaps already dead. Don't bother about the plot or Chris Tucker - the rest is perfect: Milla Jovovich, the Art Direction, the music, the diva-scene etc. etc. A tip: buy the region-2-DVD if you can because it features 80min of bonus material and both the English and German version.

Summary: Great Sci-fi Story, Incredible Visuals, and Milla!
Review: The Fifth Element is visually spectacular, and will not disappoint. It has an incredible soundtrack. Bruce Willis' acting is superb, as is Milla Jovovich's.

Forget about whether there are holes in the plot - it's a sci-fi movie, after all, and if you willingly suspend your disbelief, there's absolutely nothing to complain about.

The transfer to DVD is crystal-clear. This is truly one movie that justifies the purchase of a DVD player or DVD drive on your computer.

If you have DVD capability you MUST buy this DVD!

Summary: The Brightest Movie in an Era of Darkness
Review: The adventure and humor found in this film was delightful, but it was the brightness (the hope as well as filming technique) that makes THE FIFTH ELEMENT truly wonderful. It is a film that doesn't rely on double entendre and grown-up "in-jokes" to be family oriented.

We live in an era when when most filmmakers rely on adult situations, near-constant sex, vicious violence, and ugly staging to make their lame plots marketable. THE FIFTH ELEMENT relys only on an enjoyable, if simple, plotline ("Good Triumphs Over Evil" and "Love Conquers All"), well portrayed characters caught in an exciting and humorous adventure, and stunning visuals that capture the imagination with their color, detail and clairity.

This movie is a "must see" for sci-fi and sci-fantasy followers as well as anyone who needs to brighten their day.

Summary: this was a movie?
Review: The Fifth Element would have made a fine music video, and the best parts of it (which, undeniably, means the fastest, loudest, and most glittery, as there is, as far as I can see, nothing else here) could easily be pared down into 4 or so mintues. How about it, Luc?

Summary: REALLY COOL MOVIE!!!!
Review: I LOVE THE WAY THE STORY IS TOLD. I COULDN'T HAVE TOLD IT BETTER MYSELF. I LIKE THE PART WHERE THEY ARE TRYING TO FIND OUT HOW TO OPEN THE STONES. I JUST LOVE YELLING AT THE T.V. HOW TO OPEN THE STONES! THIS MOVIE IS VERY SUSPENCEFUL. I COULD WATCH IT OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I AM A 14 YEAR OLD AND I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE THIS MOVIE.
