Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best movie of 1997
Review: I liked it. I know why I liked it to. The movie cut scene every 35 seconds. No shot was held for more that. Simply put, it is an ADD movie. (Atention Deficeit) I LOVE it!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Futuristic Eye Candy
Review: This space thriller is one of my contemporary favorites. Gaultier-clad Bruce Willis and scantily clad Milla Jovovich are both rather fetching. In fact, this is the only Bruce Willis movie I've ever liked. Music, sound effects, visual effects all great--very entertaining and funny. Besson adds a definite French flair to his directing.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: visually spectacular
Review: total eye-candy for both sci-fi & art house film lovers - willis is great (no surprise there) & jovovich a tangerine delight - something for everyone, action, romance, comedy - this film alone justifies dvd system purchase

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This is better than Titanic
Review: This is one of my favorites movies ever. It is hilariously funny you gotta have it.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: TERRIBLE
Review: Let me just say that this is the most pathetic bag of puke that has ever had the cheek to call itself a motion picture ever. Chris Tuckers character is so annoying I literally threw up. Seriously.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A BRILLIANT action packed movie.
Review: Ifound this film similar to MIB (Men in Black) I think Bruce Willis played a great part in this once again save the world type movie. Also Chris Tucker played one of the funniest parts I have ever seen in an action film. Over all a film that could be watched over and over again. IT IS EXCELLENT

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A ridiculous, gorgeous rollercoaster ride of pure pleasure
Review: This is my first DVD and it fully justifies the purchase of a player. Videotape (and even laserdisc) cannot hold a candle in comparison to the quality.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best photography and design in recent years.
Review: The plot might be a bit thin, and some characters may be cardboard, but who cares? The most incredible set and costume design (not for nothing one of the best contemporary French fashion designers did the costumes), coupled with the usual Bruce "I'll smash it" Willis performance provide a lot of entertainment, mercifully not plagued by too many silly one-liners.

Very likely to become a cult sf movie. The DVD transcription is fairly good.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Less than the sum of its parts
Review: Bresson's film has moments of visual beauty and an interesting set up, but the narrative falls apart midway through the film. Still, one can't help but enjoy the satire sprinkled throughout the film.

Willis gives a...typical Willis performance. The real standout here is Ian Holm. Holm adds a tounge-in-cheek quality to his befuddled priest. Gary Oldman's over the top Bugs Bunny on speed performance adds to the fun of the film as well.

Clearly Bresson was attempting a broad satire and is, for the most part, sucessful. He uses Hitchcock's McGuffin to set up the plot. Bresson's McGuffin doesn't completely work--he seems to lose track of the narrative midway through the film and concentrates, instead, on a series of fun set pieces. This doesn't make for a very cohensive narrative. Although the McGuffin was merely the catalyst in Hitch's films to move the story forward they, nonetheless, were always resolved. Here, Bresson can't seem to quite figure out how to end his film.

As a result, the film becomes another run of the mill sf candy store of visuals, odd aliens and over the top performances.

The DVD transfer is terrific. The picture sparkles and the sound has tremendous punch(unlike early DVD's where the surround sound was usually poorly mixed). On technical points the film deserves a 4 or 5 star rating, for the film itself, though, 3 star will do.

Summary: Great Video!
Review: It had an original plot, and there were great actors. I loved its futuristic setting.
