Summary: Absolutely horrendous!
Review: You might like this if you are, say 11 to 15 - but that's about it. For an adult, it is really terrible: unintelligible plot, cheap looking plastic alien/monster costumes, and run of the mill acting. This is not a thoughtful sci fi movie in the vein of The Day the Earth Stood Still, or Star Wars. This is more a cartoon - but a poor one. I wouldn't recommend this movie for any living person over the age of 16!

Summary: Generation x Sci Fi
Review: This truly is Sci Fi for the 90's. It's a great Sci Fi and action movie. My favorite part is when the blue opera woman is singing. Now don't expect anything like Star Wars, this movie bombed at the box office, but it's still one of the best modern Sci Fi movies I've seen. It's a more realistic future than Star Wars, that's for sure. It's basically pure entertainment. It ends, and it's just one movie. Man if they could have had something like this in the 70's Star Wars would have been NOTHING. Oh well.

Summary: Great movie if you like pure entertainment
Review: Don't expect a hugely deep storyline from this movie, but if you're into the pure entertainment value and don't mind some clichees, this movie is brilliant! ;] The sets are awesome, absolutely stunning visuals and the dive scene must be one of my all-time favourites - perfectly choreographed fight scene! One to get and keep!

Summary: The annoying radio host takes away a whole star.
Review: Yep, this would've been a five-star movie except for that radio host dude towards the end. He was funny for about one minute, then I began to wish terribly that he would go away. But don't let that stop you from getting this movie! All other aspects of it are absolutely first-rate! Milla Jovovich is not only stunningly beautiful, but plays her part awesomely well too. As does Bruce Willis. But with Bruce, that's to be expected. You think he'd be boring, playing the same type attitude in every movie of his, but I never tire of his characters. Gary Oldman is his eccentric self here, and it works well. Visually, the film is well done. It is necessarily heavy on special effects, but they are all magnificent and don't get in the way of the story. A very nice and colorful rendition of a futuristic city; and a highly imaginative floating cruise ship with a to-die-for view toward the end. The radio dude (Chris Tucker I think?) is kind of funny, but belongs in a different movie. His part takes more attention than it's worth, but the rest of the movie and actors more than make up for it. Script-wise, it is a good well-rounded sci-fi script. Better than most that are out there, and original. Probably is in my list of top 20 movies of all time. But I have to say that somehow, there are a hundred movies in my top 20 list!

Summary: pure fantasy and escapism
Review: A good story line, great action, flawless continuity, fantastic costumes, funny bits and sad bits, excellent picture quality, brilliant soundtrack with haunting arab-style music. This movie has it all! It brings out the kid in me. My eight year old is also spellbound by it. All in all, pure escapism.... can't wait for Jean d'Arc to become available- but then it's a very different subject altogether!

Summary: In the vein of Star Wars
Review: The Fifth Element is a thrilling masterpiece that anyone who loves the science fiction genre should see. The visuals of this flic are stunning. Beutiful sets, interesting costumes and original aliens all help to advance the story. The editing is fantastic. The way the movie jumps from one scene to another shows great attention to flow as well as adds to the subtle humour that this film exudes. Mila Jovovich and Gary Oldman are terrific, totally engulfing themselves in their characters. Chris Tucker is well cast as the comic relief. Bruce Willis, as in the Die Hard trilogy, is wonderful as a hero who is more than capable, but really doesn't wish to be the hero. The sound and picture quality is fantastic. The 5.1 Dolby sound greatly enhances the cinematic experience of this film. There seems to always be something happening out of the viewable area that you can hear from the rear speakers. A must see.

Summary: sad
Review: Together with Starship Troopers this is one of the worst movies i have ever seen. I am amazed to see a good actor like Gary Oldman, who i like very much, in this save the world type array of special effects.

Summary: A great over-the-top sci-fi movie!
Review: I've been a fan of director Luc Besson since I saw his masterpiece "The Professional." This was a strange follow-up, but a very interesting one. The concept of the film was a rip-off of 'The Dark Crystal,' but I thoroughly enjoyed the many over-the-top visuals and characters. My two favorites were Chris Tucker and Gary Oldman. They had me laughing so hard that I fell out of my chair. The only thing that ruins this film, though, is Milla Jovovich. She is definitely not right for the role as Bruce Willis' love interest. She's young enough to be his daughter, for crying out loud! Overall, although I know a lot of people who didn't like this, I have to say that it is good if you like visually outrageous movies.

Summary: THE BEST BESSON MOVIE YET
Review: What a matchuup between Luc Besson and Gary Oldman. Ever since the Professional, this two guy are just made for each other. Its the most complete story I have seen. It has one of the best edition that ever existed on the movie business and it surpasses imagination. Milla Jovovic is exceptionaly beatuiful and even Bruce Willis does his part. Don't miss one of the best movies (my best personaly) ever made.

Summary: A futuristic classic?...
Review: ...not so fast. This movie belongs in anybody's collection of otherwise good movies ruined by Chris Tucker's presence.
