Summary: "The play is the thing..."
Review: This edition is far superior to the first installment for one very simple reason: the story is better. Bryan Singer is an average director who sometimes finds himself in the middle of a very good script and although he tries very hard to ruin it with his mediocre talent, the story rises up and makes him look good. Another example of this is "The Usual Suspects." I actually cared whether or not the X-Men succeeded this time around. In the first film the only compelling characters were Wolverine and Rogue, and I'm still scratching my head at the casting of Ian McKellen as Magneto. Magneto was a huge guy! That said, they could not have cast finer actor than Ian, so I'm torn. There are many memorable scenes, very few slow moments, and the weaving of character dialogue this time around works more fluidly. After the first film I was reluctant to see the sequel. After seeing the sequel, I'm looking forward to the third film with eager anticipation.

Summary: Highly Recommended
Review: One of the best comic book movies to come out in the past few years. As much as the Matrix movies are "comic book movies"(utilizing comic book style action, plot devices, visual influences) I personally have found the X-men series of movies more satisfying and relevant. The director has decided to take the subversive route, forcing the audience to become invested in the characters and their respective plights. This in turn gives purpose to the action sequences in which they are allowed to serve the progression of the story rather then as a distraction from a threadbare plot.

As much as I enjoyed the first Matrix, the subsequent Matrix sequels have become overloaded with gratuitous action sequences, seemingly the result of the filmmakers' overindulgent tendencies or perhaps their misconceptions about what pleases an audience. I want to see a good film, which is exactly the criterion X2 fulfills. The pacing is effective, the themes have resonance and the ensemble cast interacts with playful chemistry and energy. Take Hugh Jackman's excellent characterization of Wolverine; oscillating from feral animal ready to consume helpless prey one minute to concerned parental figure the next. Famke Janssen as Jean Grey is also excellent (her film Love & Sex is also highly recommended). One of the industry's most underrated actresses Famke conveys mouthfuls with a singular glance.

I also like the wide age ranges possessed by all the mutants in the film. The old aren't relegated to grandfather roles and the young play integral parts in the stories action. A 60-year-old Magneto, played by the regal Ian Mckellan, believably evokes fear all the way up to the highest tier of American government due to his mutant control of all things metallic. Mutation as the great equalizer between the young, old, men, women, strong and weak is a great concept.

In short: Great Cast, Great Execution, Great Film.

Summary: Simply terrible
Review: Just terrible. The first one sucked, and the second one, wait a minute, wait, oh, oh, it sucked even worse. I wouldn't have thought it possible that a movie could be worse than the first X-Men, but the sequel to that P.O.S. proved me wrong. This isn't a review like my normal ones (to bash things that deserve savage beatings), this is a warning. A warning NOT to purchase this or any movie in any relativity to it.

Summary: X-Cellent
Review: Though the first X-Men movie had more of a message about racism, this one makes up for it in action, cameos, and just overall. The plot just seems more from the comics. From a dazzling opening sequence featuring new mutant Nightcrawler to the breathtaking final moments, X2 is a wild ride. Almost everyone has something to do. (Anna Paquin is wasted) Plus the ending leaves you dying to see X3. Don't miss out on this X-Cellent film!

Summary: TOO GOOD!
Review: This sequal to the first X-men adaptation of the Marvel comic books is SO darn good, I couldn't believe it. It is FAR better than part one, which I love. In part two, Magneto finds his escape from his maximum security plastic prison (in an absolutely amazing scene!), Proffesor X is drained (only for a while though), the school is unmasked as a refuge and training headquarters for mutants, Wolverine begins to discover his mutant origins, one of X-men turns and takes sides with Magneto's gang, and new characters are introduced. The effects in this movie are breath taking, the plot is superb. The entire movie was borderline perfect! I'm adding this one to my collection the day it comes out!

Summary: The best thing from marvel
Review: Man, the intro itself stands as half of the movie. First of all, it introduces a new cast of mutants including Mesmero and Colossus. Also besides the amazing intro scene, there is the scene with the X-Jet where it is flying away from two jets. I watched this about a week before I watched The Matrix Reloaded and I am sad to admit that X-Men 2: X-Men United is a better movie. Whatever happens don't get The Matrix Reloaded and if you haven't watched it, God bless you. This has to be the best action movie of the year. This movie will not disappoint you unless you have something against the movie having nothing to do with the comics. This is definitely a worthy buy.

Summary: An Amazing Movie
Review: X2 is about Wolverine finding out about his past. With an amazing fight scene between two people with blades coming out of their knuckles, cop cars getting blown up, and around seven tornadoes at one time one scene, this movie builds the suspense until you just can't take it. New characters (or old ones that are more important, like Pyro) enter the scene, like Lady Deathstrike and her master. Suddenly, Magneto is the good guy, but you know that won't stay for long. This movie hooks you from the beginning all the way to the run-for-your-life end.

Summary: FANTASTIC!!!!
Review: I cannot stand these movies now a days where substance is sacrificed for special effects, computer generated animation, silly 1970's chop socky fighting, and glitsy camera tricks that seems to be the norm for movies coming out today. Gladly X2 surprised me. This is by far the best action movie I've seen in a long time. The characterization is wonderful and never corny (almost) and the fight sequence especially with wolverine and deathstrike is excellent.

Summary: Great Sequel
Review: X2 was excellent. It was great seeing Wolverine remembering his past. It was great to see the complexities of the characters being developed too. I hope Halle can come back as Storm for X3 and explore Storm's claustrophobia. Can't wait to see Pheonix as well. Who will they add next? The Morlocks? Gambit? Will we see Jubilee's powers? How about Firestar?
