Summary: BANG BANG!! SMASH CLANG!!! IT IS WHAT IT IS!!!
Review: As someone who has never played the game, I am looking at this strictly as Film entertainment... YEEHAAA!!!
Let's not get carried away, this is not Raiders of the Lost Ark. Not even close. Here's the breakdown;
-It is to "Treasure seeking adventure" as Resident Evil is to "Zombie Horror".
-If you're looking for high art, this is not for you.
-If you want challenging plot that keeps you guessing... nope.
-If you enjoy lots of action held together by an extremely simple plot, you can't go wrong.
-For what it is (pure action movie) it is very well done and entertaining.
-I was never insulted by diologue or story because I wasn't expecting to be challenged, just entertained.
-It's certainly better than one star. That's just snobbish.
-It's not for everyone. Rent it first.

This is one of those "put it in and let it go" kind of films. Great after a stressful day. Not allot of thought required, but enguaging entertainment.

Summary: Reaches unknown dephts of stupidity
Review: I never expected this to be a masterpiece of cinematography, but, my god, this was unbelievably bad, from beginning to end.

Good things first: Angelina Jolie is hot.

Bad things: everything else.
I mean, it's okay if a movie doesn't have a decent story if the rest is entertaining, even it's stupid and unrealistic (see "The Mummy").
Tomb Raider, however, lacks everything a movie should have.
It's not entertaining, only boring and inane to the maximum.
Now, to the bad things:

First, the "story": One gigantic hot air balloon, mixing esoteric mumbo-jumbo with Illuminati conspiracies, Jolie ... , pseudoarcheology and Jolie... .... Confusing and no meaning whatsoever.

Then, the special effects: Somehow everything looks unreal, like made out of plastic, even the "real" stuff like Jolie's mansion. Go watch Raiders of the Lost Ark, they did a better job 20 years ago.

Characters? Who needs characters when you've got ... explosions and gunfire every 10 seconds? So, there's absolutely no problem in introducing a female, good looking, superwealthy, highly intelligent female ex-special forces member that studied archaeology and can read or speak almost every language fluently. She always knows what to do, what to say, how to defeat 10 armed commandos without guns, everything.
Not even slightly unrealistic.

This is easily the worst movie ever made. Hysterical, unnecessarily fast paced, and so inane it makes "The Mummy" look like a documentary. Avoid it at all cost.

Summary: Half decent action yarn with great eye candy
Review: We all know Angelina Jolie is a great actress, but most of her acting talents are put aside in place of her other "assets" in this big screen adaption of the video game hit. Director Simon West (Con Air) directs with his usual big action packed style, but some parts of the film can be just mindnumbingly dull. Jolie is picture perfect as Lara Croft and is as beautiful as ever, but believe it or not her true acting talents could have brought so much more to the film, but the lacking script can be partly to blame on that. Jolie's real life father Jon Voight plays her late father in the film, and Noah Taylor (Vanilla Sky) is humerous as Lara's bumbling helper. All in all, those craving some mindless action with some gorgeous eye candy should give Tomb Raider a look.

Summary: Didn't seem believable
Review: I love Angelina Jolie but I just don't buy into her being able to beat up 10 men without a single scratch on her body.

She also does not do enough acrobatic moves in this moves. At the beginning she does a flip from a rope. That flip looked very foney.

Her lines are way too brief. Her conversations with the other actors take one minute or less.

Summary: Fun movie- great soundtrack
Review: If you've never played the "Tomb Raider" game, chances are you've at least heard someone ranting about that new computer game featuring the female character with unrealistically large breasts. Well, it's a cool game, and I for one was psyched that Simon West turned it into a feature length film.

Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) is a wealthy English "Lady" who poses as a photographer, but in reality, is a tomb raider who retrieves priceless artifacts. This is one chick you don't want to go up against- she's trained in weapons, street fighting, and just about any other form of combat you can think of. Her father, the deceased Lord Croft (Jolie's real-life father Jon Voight), is shown in flashbacks telling Lara about a severed ancient triangle featuring the "all-seeing eye" that gives it's possessor the power to control time. In order to retrieve these pieces, a special clock is needed- which Lord Croft convienently hid under his stairs. When Lara finds the clock, she realizes that she must retrieve the triangle pieces to make sure the power of time doesn't fall into the wrong hands. But of course, the bad guys have plans of their own, the first of which is stealing her clock...

This DVD is 100 minutes of fun and action. Jolie is fabulous as Lara Croft- in fact, Simon West has said he wouldn't have done this movie if Jolie hadn't agreed to play the lead. The special features on this DVD are great- follow Jolie as she vigorously trains for her part as Lara (she studied yoga, followed a special diet, learned street fighting, had weapons training, and insisted that she do her own stunts). You also get a "Tomb Raider " video game demo, access to the online experience (I've done this one- it's a blast), a look at the "Tomb Raider" game craze, plus commentary from Simon West, deleted scenes, and the visual effects of Tomb Raider. A chock-full-O DVD for a modest price.

Summary: Best film of the year.
Review: This film is the best of the year. Angelina Jolie is perfect for the role, for she both looks and acts the part. It was a lot better than most summer Hollywood flicks. Here's looking forward to the sequel.

Summary: Like The Game But You Don't Have To Play!
Review: This is a great movie, with Angelina Jolie starring as Lara Croft. The movie follows Lara on one of her typical quests - find something, beat up some bad guys along the way, save the world... Nonetheless, it's a great movie. Angelina is brutally hot and that alone just makes the movie great. Now, it's not guaranteed that you'll like the movie if you simply like the game. The story is fun, energetic, and exciting! The DVD extras are really good, too. The deleted scenes are awesome. I think they should've left the scene where Lara flips the card around the guy's head instead of the one where her ex-boyfriend person is in the shower. But that's just me. And Lara's house... ahh! It's amazing! I want to go live in it, but maybe a miniature version, haha. I reccomend this DVD to anyone, it's great! You won't regret this purchase! Enjoy!!!!!

Summary: Full of Action and Adventure
Review: Angelina Jolie was the perfect choice to play the video game heroine Lara Croft. Jolie delivers high-paced action and stunts throughout the film. She obviously trained long and hard for this role.

The movie is loaded with excellent special effects and action sequences. Sometimes the plot is hard to follow. Watch this high-paced film. Its one you will enjoy.

Summary: Pick it up used
Review: The premise of the movie is that the planets in our solar system are in a once in 5000 year alignment and Lara owns a "clock" that is the key to finding two pieces of an ancient device that allows time to be turned back. The action sequences aren't bad, but the story seems to have been taken from a early 90's game. Angelina as Lara was slightly wooden, but as eyecandy, she can't be beat. Except maybe by Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy in Batman and Robin. I purchased this one from the previously viewed bin at the local Blockbuster...

Summary: Fun movie to rent not buy
Review: Don't buy this unless you already saw it and liked it. It is not as good as Indiana Jones like people say. Angelina is a good actress but is slightly cheesy in this role. Effects are pretty darn good though but storyline is missing something.
Overall it is a renter on my part.
