Summary: A great movie - check the other reviews!
Review: I don't really want to repeat the others reviewing this movie. I'd just like to draw the attention to the fact that this picture had not got average scores: you either love it or hate it. That's why I think it's great. And I love it.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Don't take too seriously. Standard-setting effects.
Review: The effects are standard-setting. I began to forget about paying attention to the special effects -- that is when I realize how good the effects are. Pay particular attention to the swarms of bugs.

The plot is a bit of a stretch, and should be taken as the over-the-top comedy that it is. END

Summary: Excellent!
Review: This is a very interesting video. On the surface, a good, bloody, gory action flick, and underneath, a very strong social commentary on class distinctions. END

Summary: Magnificent movie - Possibly the best ever
Review: I watched Starship Troopers 5 days ago and have been on a high ever since. The feel of the movie, the power of the bugs, the sheer entertainment, all first class. Yes there was frustration with the non - effectiveness of the weaponry, but wasn't that the underlying theme of the first half of the film, how the Arachnids were underestimated ? A quality film, right now I can't think of a better one. If I could I would shake the hands of the producing team and thank them for bringing it into my life. A sequel is required quick sharp !! END

Summary: Melrose Space
Review: Is there a half-star rating available?

€ Bugs that can obtain knowledge from sucking out human brains (can you say 1950's SciFi?)

€ Boot camp accidents punished by whipŠwhat century was this taking place?

€ Huge starships capable of navigating the universeŠbut we didn't see that big rock coming at us. Well, not until it was right on us anywayŠ

€ Nothing resembling a tank; no advanced bombing; no air supportŠmaybe once, if you ask nicely.

Nuff said END

Summary: Good movie...really Annoying actors
Review: Generally Starship Troopers is a great movie...The special effects are great the action is amazing and Verhoven's directorial style is very good...BUT the actors...where did they come up with these people? For me it was hard to watch the movie because of the fact I did'nt like the main character...keep Casper Van Dien in the jungle where he belongs... the two supporting women are completely annoying and I found myself liking the guy who was supposed to be the "bad" guy the best. Throw some good actors into starship troopers and it would have been a much better movie.. END

Summary: Bugs actually out-act worthless cast in cinematic howler.
Review: "Starship Troopers" is a movie that features some of the most beautiful young actors and actresses in its cast, only to have them all upstaged by computer-generated bugs in a film so badly directed, simplistically written, and worthlessly acted the movie would truly be a B-Movie dive not even profitable enough for video release if not for director Paul Verhoven's megabucks spent on special effects. To compare this farce to "Star Wars." as some reviewers have, is nothing more than cinematic blasphemy. This thing isn't even worth sharing the stage with "Krull" or "Yor." Set in the future where the human race must take on a species of bugs that threaten to destroy the earth, the film ornaments itself with beautiful people and great effects to cover-up its subliminal and disgusting glorification of Nazism, not to mention its mindless plot. In all, the film is a sad reminder that the era of great science fiction films has perhaps passed us by. END

Summary: Would you like to know more?
Review: While not the end-all of science fiction flicks, this movie is definitely worth watching. If ever there was a "guy flick" aimed at the 18-to-35 crowd it was this movie. The special effects alone make this a must see for action devotees, and there's enough of a story to carry more demanding sci-fi buffs.

The computer animation is truly incredible, raising the "rewatchable" factor to 10 (which is the reason we buy movies rather than just rent them). This movie is not as serious as other sci-fi favorites such the Alien movies, but its touch of humor adds some comic relief to what would otherwise be a total gore-fest. Would you like to know more?

Starship Troopers is not without its faults, however. As Bob from Marietta, Georgia pointed out in his review, the military tactics used are laughable. But if you can suspend the Norman Schwarzkopf in you, your inner action child will be glad your heros elected to go mano a mano with the bugs rather than nuking them from the safety of distant space as any sane military would have. Where's the fun in that?!

It's nice to occasionally see a movie with so many new faces, even if they all look like they belong between the pages of Vogue and GQ. Any statements the movie's makers intended to make about facism are lost between gory battles, humorous infomercials and the occasional steamy scene.

When you sit down to watch this movie, you need to accept it for what it is: a hi-tech action flick that is long on special effects and not so long on plot. If you can do that, and if you're not too squeemish, you're sure to be entertained.

Summary: Starship Troopers, the movie? No, thank you!
Review: This movie is one of the worst science fiction movies ever made. Aside from the good special effects, it has nothing else to offer. The story is childish at best, and has almost nothing in common with the Heinlein book. I even felt sorry for the money I gave to go to the cinema and watch it! END

Summary: Great !
Review: What would StarWars look like if we saw it all from a (Empire)StormTrooper's point of view ? Thats Starship Troopers. It's good, it's fun (I especially liked the Federal Network parts. Nice touch)and the special effects are amazing. I saw the movie big screen and when it hit's the video marked i will buy it too. (Happens sept. 3. btw) So if you like SF-movies, rent or buy it ! END
