Rating: Summary: Unsatisfied Review: I am a huge of Ben Stiller and Janeane Garafolo but this movie turned out to be lame with a couple funny scenes. If you haven't seen it, rent it. Not worth buying. It gets one star for seeing Ben Stiller. He hams up his character as a tough guy while covering up his personal problems.
Rating: Summary: How strange Review: I rented this movie because a friend said it was funny. I rented it thinking if I am disgusted in 5 min I will turn it off. I was expecting kiddie stuff but it was genuinly hilarious! I could not stop laughing. This movie is like a teaming of all the comic book characters that got shot down by a company, and it works great!
Rating: Summary: In Flight Fun! Review: I watched this movie on a Boston to LAX flight, I could not keep my laughter within! I think about some of the clips and still laugh out loud. It was so good to see Rubens back to his fun humor again. This is suppose to be off the wall humor and not to be taken so seriousley so go into it with an open mind, you will bust open with laughter! People who don't like this movie, really hate it, but then again they thought Titanic was the worlds greatest movie.
Rating: Summary: In the like of godzilla, wild wild west comes... Review: There are no mysteries, this film is a flop. Here are a few points to acknowledge:* It doesn't even deserve one star. * I'm glad there were no great hype about this flop of film. * How could anybody give the producers the budget to create this movie? * If you were to buy this dvd, make sure you also include godzilla, wild wild west, the avengers to your collection.
Rating: Summary: Warning! Warning! Warning! Review: This is not a movie, it's a tragic waste of the human spirit. Examples of the "funny" stuff: A hero called the Blue Raja, only he dresses in green. Another hero who breaks wind when you pull his finger. Pardon me while I hold my sides. What were they thinking? No wonder Universal fires its studio head every 20 minutes or so. Easily the worst movie of the year. The decade. The last millenium.
Rating: Summary: Possibly the best comic-book movie ever Review: A lot funnier, smarter and more entertaining than all the Batman films combined -- not that that's saying much. I find Ben Stiller a bit grating, but there probably wasn't another comedy released in 1999 that had this strong a cast (including William Macy, Janeane Garofolo, Geoffrey Rush and Hank Azaria, the voice of Police Chief Wiggum, Moe the bartender, and a dozen other characters in the Simpsons). Along with the stellar cast, the film's sight gags, one-liners, bright colors and ironic silliness create an engaging and fun viewing experience.
Rating: Summary: A Good Movie Review: Aah, a refreshing movie. nothing like a good laugh to keep high spirits up. and I'd like to make a small comment. if you don't have DVD because you have a VCR, you have no idea what you are missing. Anyway, It is a Funny movie, and it is anout a bunch of half-sidekicks to Captain Amazing, a rather bad superhero that likes endorsements than justice. at the end, however, they become the superheros. I will not spoil it for the rest of ya, just Buy it.
Rating: Summary: Disco is not dead. Review: The movie promised much and didn't really deliver. However I did find enough amusing moments to make the film watchable. Rush is excellent as the villain and the stretch stingring is kinda cool. But for me the coolest thing had to be the disco gang. A gang of evil thugs who are all into disco. The movie is silly but that is really the point. Don't take yourself too seriously is the catch cry of this film and for that reason alone give it a watch.
Rating: Summary: Very Smart Movie; Formidable DVD Review: I'll refrain from surveying the plot of "Mystery Men" for the sake of space; rest assured that this movie is both smart and funny in ways that all action, super-hero fans will be able to appreciate. Instead, I'd rather focus on the DVD presentation of the movie for those of you wondering if the title is worth the purchase. As a DVD, the titlehas been fairly well mastered. While the menus are non-animated and fairly static, the DVD itself boasts quite a few enhancements over typical non-special edition DVDs. The making-of featurette is lengthy and interesting, and the feature commentary through the movie is very informative. While ten deleted scenes are included on the DVD, they are (unfortunately) strung together in one long track. The inability to skip to different deleted scenes is somewhat frustrating. I would suggest, however, that one listens to the feature-length director's commentary prior to viewing the deleted scenes. The commentary adds useful background and makes the scenes much more interesting. Unfortunately, the alternate ending that was shot for the movie was not included in the deleted scenes. In all, the DVD is one of the better presentations out there. True to Universal form, it is complemented with plenty of special features, and at its price point is a great buy for fans of the movie. It would have been nice to have a few more bells and whistles, however to make the DVD seem more complete and not as thrown together (animated menus, divided deleted scenes, etc).
