Summary: Can be good fun
Review: Lighten up, pop open a bubbly, suspend all belief and have a good time. This is the sort of movie you watch just to have some mindless good fun. Sure the 'science' is laughable. Sure the characters are two-dimensional cardboard cutouts. Sure the dialogue is sophomoric. So what? Enjoy yourself.

Summary: What the hell is that?
Review: I've never seen a mess like that, poor acting, unrealistic but fortunatelly, good specials effects. The script and the actors is for go to the trash. This is so stupid!

Summary: Shame on Criterion!
Review: Did this really need to be added to the Criterion Collection? I suppose this movie might be passable entertainment if you enjoy mindless CG effects, cardboard-cutout characters and classic rock anthems blasting over the dialog (though on second thought that might be a mixed blessing). With all the flag-waving and slow-motion Middle-America "slice-of-life" scenes, I thought I was watching a 2.5-hour Ford commercial! Trust me... if you like that sort of thing don't drop cash on this release... just tape a few hours of TV and skip over the programs in between.

Summary: CRITERION COLLECTION RULES!!!!
Review: I'm gonna be honest with you.. I didn't like this movie the first time I saw it. Too American =) But after like 5 or 7 times I really started to like it. It has a special charm... And the Criterion Colection is OUTSTANDING!!!!

Summary: Bruckheimer's involvement is what saves this film
Review: OK, this movie is not all that good. I liked some parts of it, but I found it nearly impossible to follow some of the action later in the movie.

The only thing saving this movie is Jerry Bruckheimer. I am a huge fan of his, and I loved The Rock which was produced by Bruckheimer and directed by Michael Bay. I think Bay did a good job this time, but the movie just turned out bad.

Summary: Could have been a good movie...
Review: Armageddon is one of the best examples of the Hollywood machine. It has no real story to tell, Just a lot of FX, the acting is extreamly bad and the worst part about this 2 and a half hour long "beer commercial" is the directing by Michael Bay. The way he always keeps the camera in motion to make aveything more dinamic is pathetic and he has now proven that he is even mor worse with actors than George Lucas. The script is nothing more than pityfull and a story that otherwise could have been very exiting and entertaining, becomes nothing more than a big bunch of FX with no meaning to it. What you get for you money in the end is an empty, boring movie, with nothing else going for it exept the FX!

Summary: Would you send Jesse Ventura to perform brain surgery?
Review: If you took all of the impending world disaster movies made during the last half-century and mixed them all up in a giant vat, the result would be this big-budget loser; the cinematic equivalent of that organic chemical substance that suposedly produced the earliest lifeforms about two billion years ago in the Pre-Cambrian era. The fate of the world is left in the hands of a bunch of undereducated oil drillers who appear to be World Wrestling Federation rejects. How could these flesh and blood versions of the Transformers complete astronaut training in less than two weeks when in reality, it takes the brightest of candidates many months? Just put aside your education, logic, and common sense for about two and a half hours and try to stay awake to see this film whose only qualities that earned two stars are its special effects (they appear to be borrowed from Independence Day) and its musical score.

Summary: Stupid not to like it
Review: There's not much I need to say, really, except that all the people who have written that only stupid people could possibly like this movie are themselves a few braincells short of a six-pack. They're apparently so far up themselves that they seem entirely to have missed the point that this film knows exactly what it's doing from start to finish. It knows it's corny, it knows it's crazily larger than life, it knows it's out to push all those staple movie buttons, and so it does it all with a terrific sense of humour and, more importantly, on a scale that simply beggars belief but which - crucially - works fantastically. Contrary to what some people say, director Michael Bay does a simply tremendous job of making the whole, massive juggernaut of a movie bolt along at a terrific pace, and even more remarkably, manages to engage your emotions even while you're laughing your head off at all the hokum. Other people complain about the characters, but I struggle to recall a movie that crammed so many memorable - if unbelievable - people into a single movie. Basically this film is pure cinema. Sure, it's not an Ingmar Bergman film, but it never wants to be it. And if, as anyone with half a brain cell should see, you judge it in terms of what it does want to be, you will see that it succeeds quite magnificently. Sorry to get a bit personal with this review, but as a person who enjoys movies of all sorts, I just couldn't stand by and let arrogant fools diss a top movie for no other reason than it doesn't want to fit into only the small category of 'coolness' they're pseudo intellectuality permits them to admit to enjoying.

Summary: Starts out good, but goes downhill after the first half or so
Review: This film starts out fun,but a while after they land on the asteroid, the fun goes away and the boredom kicks in.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: typical american disaster movie
Review: It's not good at all. The only good actors is Peter Stormare and Ben Affleck. If you want to see a better asteroid movie watch Deep Impact
