Summary: T2 eXtreme:Nice case,nice extras,AMAZING image/sound quality
Review: This is a truly wonderful dvd. If you own a home theatre system or seek the highest quality in dvd image and sound, this is the dvd for you. The high defenition version of the film is only playable with a high-end PC, but the special edition and theatrical versions on the tv are a big improvement on the 'ultimate edition dvd'. This is due to the brand new high quality transfer. The extras aren't amazing, but their pretty good. There is a documentary on T2's effect on the film industry and an 8 minute featurette on 'Life on the Set'. There is some great new DVD-ROM content though. There's a great little morphing program which takes a while to master seeing as there are few instructions. There is also a fun T-800 'FX Studio' in which you shoot at your imported digital photos to reveal your friend's or granny's endoskull. There is also a 'Skynet Combat Chassis Designer'. I haven't a clue what this is as I haven't used it yet, but I think it's some kind of online game. I have read several reviews with complaints about the metal outer case, but I had no problem whatsoever. The only advise I can give is to push in the front and back of the sleeve when taking the inner case out. It comes out no-problemo. If I had to choose betweem the 'Ultimate Edition' and the 'Extreme edition', I'd stick with Extreme. If however, I didn't have a dolby sound system and/or a widescreen tv, I'd take the 'Ultimate' (Way more Extras) - Oh, and by the way, the movie itself is probably one of the best films ever made.

Summary: The Ultimate And The Extreme
Review: I was upset when Artisan announced yet another version of T2 (I think this makes 3 reissues but I lost count). Why? For those of us out there, who consider ourselves DVD-Philles, most of us already own the "Ultimate Edition"of T2, which is pretty dang cool in its right. I made up my mind. I wasn't going to fall into that trap. I was burned by The Mummy and American Pie and learned the hard way-not againHaving said that...Once I heard that writer/director James Cameron and co writer William Wisher had recorded a new audio commentary for the film. I have to hand it to Artisan..this was a shrewd move. One of the minor quibbles I had with the previous release of T2, was its audio commentary. As good as it was to have a lot of contributors, the last time out, I could tell that the track was just "pieced together" from different parts of the disc. Most of the info on the track was just "lifted" This was the only downer on the "ultimate edition" The "new" is very good and worth a listen. As for the film, the 2 disc "extreme edition", has both the special extended cut, and as an "Easter Egg", the theatrical cut as well. I have to admit, the look of the T-1000 (Robert Patrick) and his morphing looks pristine, as does the original Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger). But I would also caution that the High Definition Digital transfer will only look like a real improvment if you have the equipment to handle the technology. Luckily, for me, I have a friend with an updated system, but it's still not the top of the line As for the other extras in the set, they are just ok. There are 2 new retrospective documentaries. One one the film's ground breaking effects; The other, is a "life on the set" montage, while the film was still in production. You can also build your own Terminator and track its progress online, and rounding out the set's extras is a graphic fact track about all things Terminator. With this edition, be warned, you lose many of the extras found on the previous edition. But the Cameron/Wisher audio commentary is still quite a draw. Mega fans of T2 should have both, while others should think carefully, Ultimate wins for its extra content, while Extreme gets points for a great commentary--I have both for now...I still don't like multple special edition DVD's of the same film

Summary: Probably Cameron's finest movie, incredible DVD!
Review: The metal box cover aside, this DVD is an incredible find, packed full of additional features and tons of material. Down to the basics, first. The DVD iself comes in a very poignant (no joke) and well-themed metal case, no more than a slip cover for the DVD, really, but very well made and pretty cool to display. Word of caution, though, you might find that the metal inside could rip the plastic covering on the DVD box itself, the real case inside. Just something to keep in mind, but nothing really important. The content has both the original movie shown in theatres, with all the cuts and scenes left out and still keeping just about all of the continuity. Disc 1, though, features the director's cut, beautifully remastered and adrenline-packed, with 16 minutes of additional footage! Some of the scenes were cut mostly for time reasons. A few of the scenes were a bit out of place, somewhat important in their own right, but not adding a whole lot to the story, and were cut for continuity's sake. I'm not sure if I totally agree with every scene cut, and I usually watch only the special edition, finding that those scenes, at least a few, are more important to characterization and background than they are time-consuming. The second disc, along with the original theatre screened movie, is loaded with specials and making-of bits. It's quite informative and very thorough. Any fan of this movie will enjoy the secrets (as if they didn't know already) and the behind-the-scenes look at the film. Fans of sci-fi, action, and serious drama will enjoy the movie as well. It is a deep movie, hence why I believe it to be Cameron's best. He really lays it out for us, the direction in which humanity might possibly be heading. Still, the presence throughout the movie of hope, of a brighter future, is in the prevelant message: "The future is not set. There is no fate except what we make for ourselves." It is deep in some aspects, pure action in others, but a great blend and a truly riveting movie, one that I watch time and time again and still remember that we need to be better to each other as human beings. May we all learn something from our mistakes. Enjoyable, poignant, riveting, exciting, and ground-breaking special effects. If you are even remotely a fan of one of these facets, then T2 Extreme DVD is a must-add to your collection.

Summary: My favorite movie of all time on one great dvd
Review: Just so you know, this review is for the Ultimate Edition, not the badly reviewed Extreme dvd. I'm gonna start this review with a little history. Terminator 2 has been my favorite movie of all time. It was a yr ago when I had first got a dvd player and my brother and I decided that one day in the future, we will own the ultimate edition of T2. We would have bought it right if we had not already owned it the movie on video. It was not that long after that I heard that Artisan was releasing a new edition of T2 called "The Extreme DVD". We thought about getting that after seeing that it might be good. But after hearing all the negative reviews, we decided to stick with the Ultimate. But there was a problem; The Ultimate Edition was going out of stock. Soon on every market shelf, there was The Extreme Dvd in place of where the Ultimate edition used to be. I guess we can say that the Extreme had taken over.
One day over the summer, I was at a store and for fun, I decided to check if there Ultimate edition in stock. As predicted, the shelf was full of Extreme dvd's, but under the huge pile of dvd's there was ONE Ultimate edition of T2. It may have been the last one available in the whole state so I bought right away. At first, I was a bit disappointed with the dvd. One reason was because I had first owned the movie on video so I asked myself "Did I really have to buy this movie". I know the video was old and the picture was a little blurry but it was still in decent condition. I felt like I wasted my money. Also it's a widescreen. I know 99 percent of people prefer widescreen but I like full screen (but I am willing to look past that). But after a while, I decided to explore the dvd and realize that it's a great dvd. Hell, it may be the best dvd in the world. It has got so much stuff on just one disc! It has many documentaries on it, cast and crew info, audio commentary, 2 versions of the film, Dolby Digital 5.1 surround ex, DTS 5.1 ex, trailors, dolby surround 2.0, over 700 story boards, entire screenplay, lots of features that include the making of t2 from make-p to visual effects, and the animated dvd menus are really cool and much more. Enough about that, here is the plot.
Its been about ten years since the events of the first film. The Skynet and machines of the future want to once again to attempt to eliminate the leader of the human resistance, John Conner. They now send a more advanced terminator, the T-1000 (Robert Patrick). This thing is made up of liquid metal and can imitate anything it touches by physical contact as long as its something of equal size and it something that doesn't have moving parts; like a machine, ex-. a gun. It can form solid metal shapes, ex- a knife. The humans too have sent a terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and programmed it to protect John (Edward Furlong). He first must find John, and then help get his mom Sarah (Linda Hamilton) out of a mental hospital. It is said that somewhere between the time after the first movie and before the second movie, Sarah tried to stop the existence of Skynet by destroying the company who will build it. She was stopped and sent to the psychiatric clinic for he stories of the "machine from the future". After getting her out, the 3 then go on a quest to once again try to prevent the existence of by stopping the computer genius Miles Dyson (Joe Morton), who will eventually build it. At the same time, they must also keep John alive and away from the deadly T-1000.
Anyway, T2 has to be the greatest movie of all time and I am happy have it on the ultimate dvd. For those of you who are reading this, if your not happy with you Extreme dvd, then I think you should tell Artisan to re-release the Ultimate Edition b/c I am sure that will everybody happy.

Summary: Extreme and Ultimate quick comparison.
Review: Hello, I currently own both Ultimate and Extreme editions.
The main differences when comparing both films are already explained here in the amazon Editorial Review. One difference that is not talked about is the fact that the Extreme edition lacks the Special "Extended" Version option. The Ultimate edition has the theatrical version, the special edition version and the special edition extended version as options to choose from. The Extreme edition only has the special edition and the theatrical version options to choose from. The scene when the T1000 scans the room with his hands is not implemented directy onto the film (a feature of the special extended version from the Ultimate edition). That's my only complaint of the Extreme Edition, but when comparing both films, I believe that the Extreme edition is better due to it's superior scene quality as well as everything else mentioned in the editorial reviews.

Summary: Terminator II
Review: I would say this is one of the best movies of all times. This action packed, seriously cool movie is one of the few I would recommend to everybody. Arnold Schwarzenegger is awesome in this film. So is Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor, John Connor's mother. I can guarantee your liking for this movie. The first time I saw this movie, I watched it another about 10 times in a row! To everyone who is going to see this movie, ENJOY!!

Summary: The Metal collectible case was replaced!
Review: This is incredible! One of the reasons why i bought this collectors edition was to collect the Metal collectible sculpture embossed package. When I saw what i received, I noticed that the Metal collectors box was replaced with a metal colored cardboard. This is an outrage, I really wanted that metal cover. The descriptions of this dvd said that it contained a metal package, not that it was replaced. Oh well, aside from that, it's one of the best collectors edition when compared to the previous collectors version.

Summary: Excellent Movie. Bad Casing
Review: I love this movie. it has to be one of the best movies ever. i enjoy it very much and you can never get bored of it. My ratings are broken down into segments that will better help you.(they are all out of 5)
Casing 1: sure the metal casing is awesome and looks cool but my movie got stuck inside and tore off the plastic and also the picture.
Special Features (disc one) 5: if i could give it a higher rating i would. i enjoy watching it with the all the goodies.
Cd two 3: the documentaries couldve been better. i dont have a dvd on my computer so i can only guess what the onther stuff can be like....
Movie 5: it has got to be one of the greatest films ever. you can watch this over and over and not get tired. and if you do you have a choice of the theatrical version or the extended version which i find fascinating!
overall its a must have film for anybody.

Summary: Great Movie But The Metal Case Sucks @$$
Review: The Terminator series is one of the greatest movie series of this day. With the Ausome Special Effects (except for the first one, lol) These movies are science fiction at its highest level. However the T2 with the Metal Case is a bad but unless u plan on not using the metal case. You will find once you open ur DVD and slide it out of the metal case it will ruin the plastic case on the inside. You will notice the damage after a few times of watching. I Was just warning u.

Summary: Another high octane effects film from James Cameron.
Review: When Arnold Schwartzenegger was the king of all things action this was his biggest movie. He reprised his role as The Terminator, he played him more good guy friendly but just as tough. Sarah Conner's character went psychotic, and her little boy grows up to be a thug. The movie was full of action and thrills and the film ended sad. It was all and more I expected from Cameron. One of his better films.
