Summary: Outstading corporate profit-generator
Review: Ah yes, The Matrix. The absolute darling of geeks and dorks all over the world. The impact The Matrix had cannot be denied, but it has earned a level of praise it does not deserve. Sure, the film is far from boring and great care was taken to insure its entertainment value. But the praise has not been for its MTV action sequences. The Matrix has been praised by many for its themes. However, the idea that reality is but shadowplay on a cave wall is as old as sci-fi itself. Indeed, people have asked: "How do you know the world you percieve is real?" But once you answer with: "Why would someone create such a deception?" It's obvious how absurd the praise for this film is. And then there are others who sight The Matrix's religious themes. Those people need to go and read Dune. The Matrix is an unapologetic post-modern sci-fi that is anything BUT original. It is little more than a blend of Dark City, The Terminator, and Fist of Legend. Even today, I still don't understand why such a super computer would use fists to battle an enemy. WTF? It's also funny to watch a group of rebels sneak around in an environment totally controlled by this super computer. After all, this computer wiped out most of human civilization, and now it's too stupid to terminate a group of annoying punks?... Also, the use of 90's techno metal will seriously date this film in fifteen years. And now the sequels are coming. One can only image how excited The Matrix cult must be.

Summary: I wanted to give it 5 stars. I really did!
Review: All I can say about the movie is that it's a good movie with great special effects and probably, standing on its own is worthy of 5 stars. About the DVD-Best sound quality I've heard, best picture quality I've seen. Even in the darkest scenes I can still see what is happening. This DVD has more extras and better extras than any DVD I have watched so far. BTW-My Toshiba SD-1200 DVD player handles anything this DVD can give out with no problems at all, so you don't need the most expensive equipment to reap all the benefits of this high quality DVD. Now, why did I give this DVD only 4 stars? Because of the little disclaimer on the back of the package: "The enhanced DVD-ROM features will not work on a MacIntosh computer." And they won't. For leaving out a large segment of this DVD's audience, the manufacturer's have to lose some points. And that's a shame.

Review: All I can think of to say is, instead of growing millions of humans and plugging them into a complex database to harness their energy, why didn't the machines just make batteries?

Who greenlighted this?

Summary: The Matrix takes cinema to the next level
Review: All I could think of after my first viewing of "The Matrix" was... WOW! The special effects (very often immitated) were like nothing I had ever seen before, but what blew me away even more was the plot. Usually in an effects bonanza movie the plot and acting are just something to fill up the spaces between explosions, but "The Matrix" really has it all.

Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, and Carrie-Anne Moss all turn in amazing performances as Neo, Morpheus, and Trinity. They play three human resistence fighters on a future planet Earth dominated by thinking machines that have enslaved humanity in the most insidious way possible, by creating the matrix... a prison for their minds.

Dazzling martial arts, dizzying special effects, a plot that questions our entire concept of 'real', an awesome soundtrack/score, and great acting all made "The Matrix" a cultural phenomenon that hasn't been seen since the original "Star Wars" over twenty years ago. Science Fiction has been taken to a new level, and I can't wait to see how the series continues on in the upcoming movies. Again... WOW.

Summary: Beautiful looking scifi film
Review: All my friends really love the Matrix. Having seen it recently, I find it hard to like. The plot is something that I could have written on a boring history class , and the pacing is not done very well. On the other hand, the film has some beautiful special effects(you can see the influences of Hong Kong action films and japanese anime). But they cannot hide the fact that its basically just an unoriginal film made with lots of money. I saw Blade Runner recently and it showed that a film can have beautiful visuals and interesting content.

Summary: Freudian Cyberchology
Review: All of the little pieces of the movie really began to tie together when Neo tells Trinity that he is "just an average guy" and he is "not the one-according to the oracle". Because picturing the whole "matix" concept without the machines makes it possible to see that the matrix is really a manifestation of the human super-ego. Neo can defeat the Matrix if he comes to terms with the idea that he really is "just a normal guy". The power of speed and agility that Neo acquires in the end is actually effective spontaneous actions that are derived from an honest and realistic self-perspective that is not cluttered by superficial hang-ups. That's what makes this movie so great-the moral effort that was put into this makes it not just another cyber-flick.

Summary: The greatest thing to put inventing the TV worth while.
Review: All the different extras that the DVD gives makes the movie a learning experience. The movie itself was an eye opener that finally put the mind of a human to use. This movie's great special effects makes one think "what else is the movie industry going to think of next?" An awsome movie and an awsome experience!!!
