Summary: Outstanding adaptation of the book
Review: I really enjoyed this fantasy movie. Although it would be impossible to fit every element of the book into the movie, this one comes close. Every member of the cast seems to fit perfectly into their parts and the special effects were awesome. A must for Harry Potter fans and everyone else.

Summary: Harry Potter hypnotizes...
Review: This film is as true to the book as it could possibly be. The cast is ideal, and, hopefully, will be able to complete the series intact. Having read (and loved) the books, but not as much of an aficianado as some other members in my family, I did not catch the parts which were, either, combined or omitted. Thus, I felt no need to pick it apart.
It is, in fact, a rousing good story, with a plot that holds your attention consistently, throughout.
Harry Potter is the nephew/ward of a truly dysfunctional family, who finds out at the age of ten that he is a wizard. His parents, who were successful wizards themselves, were mysteriously murdered by the evil Lord Voldamort. After attempting to do the same with baby Harry, Voldamort was somehow vanquished through means unknown. Because of this, a certain respect is paid to Harry by almost all except his muggle (nonmagic) relations and, Professor Snape from Hogwarts, the wizard school which Harry eventually attends.
This is the Wizard of Oz/Alice in Wonderland/Morte de Arthur of our age, and I, for one, am enjoying the ride immensely. I highly recommend that everyone, especially if you have resisted thus far, do the same.

Summary: Hogwarts? Hogwash!
Review: Someday, when the Harry Potter fad is back in perspective and adults no longer wet themselves with excitement about the impending release of every children's book, this movie will be remembered as an inocuous kid flick -- nothing more. I admit the casting seems to have been excellent, but then I never bothered with the book, so I had no preconceptions regarding how the characters should look. The special effects were all right -- especially the flying sequences. As for the story, any comparisons to Cinderella were purely intentional. Listening to 50-year-olds go on and on about how magical this film is stimulates my gag reflex. If you're looking for an "adult" fairytale, buy a Lord of the Rings DVD. Any grownup who spends his/her allowance on this Harry Potter silliness should be spanked and sent to his/her room without supper.

Summary: Great movie.
Review: I am a fan of the books and enjoyed this movie a lot. Few things were left out of the book and I thought the casting was all dead on.

The movie part of the DVD is spectacular. Great crisp video and audio. The only complaint I have is that the special features on the DVD are for kids only. I didn't get any real enjoyment out of them, but I guess being 26 years old I wasn't the target audience and it's only a minor inconvience.

Would have absolutely loved a commentary with the actors that played Harry, Ron and Hemione but still the DVD was a great value.

Summary: Harry's First Year
Review: Who wouldn't want to revel in the wonderment of an 11-year old boy whisked from his dreary existance to discover his potential among magical creatures and equally mysterious people. The viewer has already seen the movie it is assumed. The extra's are nice but accessing them is a little difficult. The DVD keeps the wonderful score up to quality.

Summary: Fodder for the masses
Review: I don't quite understand this "Harry Potter" phenomenon. My husband rented this DVD and I found it absolutely wretched. The child actors were positively awful, especially Emma Watson. Is her father a producer? Why the entire cast is British and the director is American - the man responsible for thrusting "Home Alone" upon us - is beyond me. Surely there is more literate, more inventive stuff out there for the general masses. This film is a complete travesty. And more are planned! I'm sure subsequent efforts will pad Ms. Rowling's pocketbook even further. And further dumb down those who watch them. Roald Dahl where are you when we need you?

Summary: Good Movie...
Review: I am a huge Harry Potter fan!! Being 21 years old, I never thought I would write those words! I really love these books and the movie is great too. My only advice is...I loved the books so much that the movie wasn't all that I wanted it to be (altough it is still wonderful).

Surely a movie that you should watch. Try the books too! YOU WILL LOVE THEM!

Summary: A Delightful Family Movie Full Of Extras!
Review:
I must admit, being 15 years old, I thought Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone would be rather boring and stupid. I had never even read a book, nor had a desire to. Yet, one day in school, we either had the choice of doing work, or watching this movie. You can guess what I chose, correct?

::Enter the World Of Harry Potter::

When I watch this DVD, which is now on a weekly basis, I always prefer to skip past the first 6 scenes, as they are sort of boring and dull. But once the Hogwart's adventure begins in the movie, I enjoyed watching it! Funny, delightful, cute, and charming all come to mind. The movie's scenery are wonderfully thought out, and the dialog and characters are very realistic. Aside from the ghosts, sorting hat, and all other magickal workings at Hogwarts, the school itself is very much like an old fashioned English boarding school.

The movie's many aspects, also keeps one thouroughly entertained in the movie. The main theme runs through the entire film, that of finding the Stone and the person trying to keep it, yet new little twists are constantly added, to make the adventure that much more exciting. The Troll at Halloween, A game of Quidditch, A Dragon hatchling, and a trip to the Dark Forest, among other things. Overall, I believe this movie is quite nice, and, although it is no Wizard of Oz, it is a wonderful family movie, for those who like these types of imaginative movies. Only 58 days till the sequel, and I must tell you, this 'Non Harry Potter Fan' cannot wait! I hope this review is helpful to you, and enjoy your time at the movies!
