Summary: A great Collection!
Review: Wow, I just read that the TV episodes are coming out as well! To own those, plus this complete movie set, and you can just go ape! The DVD's are great quality, and nice to be able to have your own "ape" marathon at home. The package is very attractive as well. A definate must.

Summary: Monkey Men Madhouse
Review: This is a classic set of DVD's to own. The 1st movie is EXCELLENT, the others are pretty good as well. If your a planet of the apes fan, I would recommed buying this boxed set. The 6th DVD , shows the making of the movies etc. - Money well spent.

Summary: Must for classic fans
Review: I grew up watching the Planet of the Apes on TV with my Dad. I even saw one at the local Drive-In. I hope the TV series is released on DVD as well, including the cartoons. I enjoy this set. The second in the series is probably the "weakest" in the series, but the collection as a whole gets 5 stars.

If your a new fan of the new movie, this might not be your cup of tea.

Summary: A life long desire
Review: All my life I have longed to have the whole collection of The Planet of the Apes, but never thought it would be an actual reality.. and to top it off, it came with the special documentary with Roddy McDowell.. I enjoyed each CD and suggest to anyone that loved the series to buy this CD collection now before they are no longer available with the documentary.. it is my money well spent..

Summary: LowQualityApeBoxSet
Review: In the past two years I have never seen a special rerelease DVD have so little done to it. The sound as mentioned by others is terrible. The DVD's also are not enhanced for Widescreen TV's so when watching one of these on my widescreen everything is stretched. Since 1999 this is the 1st DVD that I have bought that was NOT enhanced for widescreen tv's. The other was Scarface. It's a shame they couldn't have spent a little more time on the audio. I have purchased Ben Hur and Lawrence of Arabia and they did so much more with the sound and video on those DVD's. If you have a nice home theatre system this is not a DVD set to purchase.

Summary: Oh the silly ones
Review: Silly Silly poeple, Does anyone really believe anything that is stamped "limited or collectors edition"? if so then you are truely gullable a great example of this is star wars why the public has been more than properly milked by the many new limited collecters editions of these films only to see the value of thier collections go to self worth when another is released, ok enough all limited and collectors stampings you should properly ignore!! buy something because you like it and if it is good then why can't every one buy it as well or are you special?? The planet movies are great and the only way to get more than the first is toi buy the dvd box set which is reasonably priced for a 6 disk set. however my bone to pick is only the first one has been remastered in 5.1dd while the others are in dolby surround only exept for one that is in cheeseball mono can you believe that? why i can because somewhere down the road they will remaster each movie one at a time and re-release a new box set for the sole purpose of properly milking the public or making money. and while some out there will say "why that's not fair" the truth is why shouldn't they because you will buy it. i personally will buy this set because it is the only way to get all the movies on dvd but i am quite anoyed that one of them is actually in mono! since im not looking to resell this set the only other movie that i really would have liked to have seen mastered in 5.1 is the 2nd o when the milk man cometh and that one is remastered i will just buy that one alone, mono the supergirl "collectors" set featured 2 versions of the movie the us version and the longer overseas version which has been modernized and mastered in mono as well, perhaps she meets a nice monkey in that version and they live happily ever after in mono!! buy this set if you like the movie and ignore the limeted and collectors stuff that has been stamped on every disc released it seems!

Summary: Not all discs are 5.1 Dolby English
Review: I would give this 5 stars if all discs had 5.1 Dolby Digital sound as the DVD specs say they do. In reality, only the first movie has a 5.1 Dolby Digital sound track. The other four movies had a nice "This is THX" sound effect in Dolby Digital 5.1 then dropped down to Dolby Surround for the remainder of the disc. In reality I'm not sure a Dolby Digital sound track is really required for all the movies. But whats the point in a DVD transfer if the quality is just VHS?

Summary: Incredible!!
Review: This movie was the best of it's time. The Costumes on the people are so real, aldough now it's a lot more improved, this is a great movie.

Summary: BUYER WARNING..THE FULL BONUS DISC IS NOT INCLUDED!
Review: This is a classic set, one of the greatest ever. It is worth the money but they are not doing right by its fans buying this set. What they aren't telling you is that you'll be buying separarely the full 2-Disc Bonus DVD ("Behind The Planet Of The Apes") the set should be 7-discs. Like the same supposed "Limited Edition" set released over a year ago, It's only 6 disc including the abbreviated single disc behind the panet of the apes that has the documentary and NOT a lot of extras like they say.

In short, they should include the 2-Disc set for people spending money on the box set. Instead they screw them by making the 2-disc set additional.

Summary: Limited Edition?
Review: With Planet of The Apes (boxed set) being only one year old, why has it been re-released a year later? I was originally sold on the fact that the set was a "Limited Edition". I was sold on the fact that that the bonus behind the scenes disc would no longer be available with future releases. I guess it is true that there is no truth in advertisement. I only hope that this new boxed set version is the same as the one that I currently own so that I won't have to buy a new version and that the rest of the public won't miss out on a truly remarkable set! This set ranks as one of my favorite sets ever(second only to Fantasia).
