Summary: Wonderful Movie
Review: Even though I haven't read the books and really had little interest in going to the theater to see this movie, I'm glad my wife rented it. It was great, so great in fact that we bought the DVD. Buy it, it's worth it.

Summary: Deleted scenes are hard to get to.
Review: This movie is just fantastic. Very true to the book, unlike most films. This is a definite plus.

With the good come the bad. The deleted scenes are a pain to find. I originally thought I'd been had and it was false advertising. However, once I discovered it was at the end of the game, I felt better.

The picture quality is okay but I've seen better. There are moire patterns with the passing Hedwig on the menus and the visual effects are not blended very well. Even my kid said, "now that looks fake". Blanching I said, "yes it does".

As far as the movie goes, the acting was very good. Emma Watson was a little too over-dramatic for my taste but she's the only one. The casting was superb. The set was 'just as I imagined'. Perhaps even better. I liked the dark look about it.

I take away a star for the visual effects problem and the Hedwig/Menu/Moire pattern problem. I don't take away more stars for the visual effects because I think it's the setting that caused the problem. Can't describe it, you'd just have to see what I mean instead.

Summary: I enjoyed the special features more
Review: Having read all HP books & having watched the film in the theatres, I regret to say that I was sort of disappointed with the film. I agree that with the millions of readers & viewers of the HP series, it would be difficult for the cast/crew to satisfy each & everyone's expectations. So, when I got hold of the DVD, I skipped the film & proceeded to see the speacial features.

I would say the idea of coming up with 2 discs, one for the film itself + theatrical/teaser trailers & one specially for its added features is a great marketing concept. Going through the 2nd disc made the film seem more interesting & erased all my qualms --- so I ended up watching the film again --- but only after going through the 2nd disc.

Summary: If I wanted a child's video game . . .
Review: I WOULD HAVE PURCHASED A CHILD'S VIDEO GAME!!!!

DISK 1: 5 stars. My entire family, from 8 yr old to 46 yr old parents, loved this movie.

DISK 2: ZERO STARS. When we heard this would be a 2-disk set, we had visions of behind the scenes documentaries, pieces on special effects, make up, locations used, etc. WE GET NONE OF THIS!!! JUST A FRUSTRATING, STUPID GAME!!

Look at Star Wars I, Planet of the Apes: they appealed to a wide audience, and the 2 disk DVD gives us gobs of good stuff.

I am horribly disappointed by this release.

Summary: Nice DVD to add to your collection
Review: It's sad to say but I did not get a chance to see this movie in the theaters so I did not get to enjoy the wide screen. However, after viewing the DVD I have to say that I was not disappointed in this movie.

The character were great, the actors were fantastic (or should I say smashing!). The effects and cinematography was brilliant. And from what I've been told, it was pretty true to form of the book (that's right I haven't read any of the books....yet!).

The additional DVD with the added scenes, games, etc., is a plus.

Can't wait for the next movie installment of the J.K. Rawlings series!!

This movie is definately for all in your family to enjoy!! I highly recommend buying the DVD and adding it to your collection.

Summary: Can't decide what movie to buy?
Review: If you want a fantastic movie to watch, buy Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It's full of magical wizards and witches. If you want to jump out of your seats and can't wait what's going to happen next, then buy this movie. You'll never want to stop watching it. -Lizzy Geraci

Summary: The Maze that is Harry
Review: All right, so the movie is awesome(as are the books). I love Harry, and Ron and Hermione are very cute together. I knowmany people say it is too much like the book-- I don't understand the problem with this. The book comes alive in this first installment.
The DVD itself though, is very FRUSRSTING. It was so hard for me to find the deleted scenes that I had to go online to figure it out. I like the idea of making a quiz out of finding the scens, but the way it is set up is not very logical.

So, the movie is great, but the DVD needs a bit more work.

Summary: Harry Potter, The Best I've Seen In A Long Time
Review: I wanted to see this movie ever since I read the book.I loved
the action in it. One of my favorite parts was the quidich
match. I had know idea how the game was played. I would
reconamend this movie to any one who is a Harry Potter fan
and beyond. Good work to all who created this movie, and to
J.K.Rowling for writing such a great book.

Summary: Harry Potter widescreen dvd review
Review: It was great to watch Harry Potter again and revisit the world of Hogwarts. The book literally comes alive with the performance of this children's movie. My kids enjoyed not only the movie, but plays for hours with the enclosed special features such as making potions, clicking on the characters to make them talk and the game. The extra disc (which has the extra footage and bonus games) is a nice feature to keep separate the movie from the extra fun (and less chance of damaging the movie). Overall it was an excellent choice to purchase for the kids!

The only complaint I had was that many scenes from the original big screen production was that some scenes had been trimmed to make the movie shorter (ie Dudley's birthday trip to the zoo). I would have prefered the original movie unaltered, but it still is a great story!
