Summary: F
Review: Well, YES, the movie was good. That's why we bought the video. So we could see the ADDITIONAL FOOTAGE (heavily advertised). Don't buy this for the additional footage. It's only about two minutes worth of material that was rightfully edited out of the movie (boring).

Summary: Harry Potter And The Reviewer's Stone
Review: If you like Lord Of The Rings and the book series Everworld, you will LOVE this movie. According to the title, it is the first movie of the Harry Potter book series, however it is a little bit different. I hate spoilers, so I am not going to tell you what is going to happen.

The rating does make it's effect in this movie.

Violence: Just a bit. The rating PG. I dont think kids under 10 would understand it.

Sex: None.

I give it a 7/10 because it really is a very good movie.

Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Review: I think Harry Potter had lots of action. It had the characters fit the description from the book. The movie was funny and serious. But one thing I think should be changed is when they enter thier dormatries. In the book it had alot of more action. But my favorite thing is when they get past Fluffy (3 headed dog) to get to the chambers. One of my favorite charachters is Ron. He`s really funny!! My favorite scences is when you see Voldemort on the back of Professer Quirell's head. I like the movie because it brought everything to life. Like the castle. It looked so real! So did the troll. One reason I don't think they should have made the movie is because it takes away your imagination. That`s my opion on Harry Potter!

Summary: FUN for older kids but not a good idea for those under 6
Review: This video is a delight to kids in upper elementary school but is dark and frightening to younger kids. The troll scene and the fight with Voldemort are realistic and as a teacher and parent, I cannot recommend this video to parents with kids under 6. Keep it special for older kids who've read the books.

Summary: Huh?????????!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Personally I despesze Harry Potter!I like watching movies but god it didn't make much sense to me.This movie left out stuff in the book and ohh!The thought of watching this movie was bad.It was really confusing and I couldn't figure out what was going on.I wouldn't mind seeing any of the other movies but as long as they don't have the extras. The extras were bogus and even though they were thought to be funny they weren't.Don't buy it.

Summary: No Features Here Folks
Review: The long awaited Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone movie was well worth the wait. Sad to say, however, that the long awaited DVD was not. The Special Features amount to "theatrical trailers." Which is sad for a 2 disk set. I personally found the 2nd disk's "game" (which is what Disk 2 is) annoying. Unless you did everything right, you would not be allowed to advance. I can understand that the filmakers wanted to "expand" the harry potter world, and let kids roam freely. In which case why not make a PC game instead? why waste your money on making a DVD game, instead of providing the special features we have all come to expect and enjoy from DVD's? The only good thing about it is a 15min Interview with the filmakers which provides very little into the making of the movie. If you ask me, you're better off buying the Widescreen VHS or something than to waste your money on a 2 disk set with no features.

Summary: Totally Cool Movie-- But Where's the Extra Footage???????
Review: This Harry Potter movie is awesome, but not anything like the book. Only one question- where's the behind the scenes extra special not-seen-in-theaters footage????!!!! I couldn't find it. Worth the money, but would be better if there was the extra clips. Kind of a rip-off. Instead, on the second disc, there's a simple "adventure" game. That was O.K. too. The movie's very realistic and sort of like the book, but it kind of exaggerates the book a bit. Great special affects too and great characters- excellent casting (their personalities seem exactly like the characters in the books).I would buy this movie even if their is no clips. Very cool movie. It's worth it.

Summary: Adults will like it. Kids will love it.
Review: The movie itself is one of the best I have ever seen. The way that they come up with the special efects are amazing. They followed the book very closley. The parts of the book that where cut out where not needed to tell the story even to those who haven't read the books. Otherwise the movie would have been 4 hours. The secound disk is some what hard to follow if you are an adult. However this is a kids movie and it makes it fun for the kids to go through and they feel they have accomplished something when they get done.

Summary: Not Much of a Movie
Review: I haven't read the Harry Potter books, so I was coming at this movie from a relatively objective perspective. I was looking forward to it, however, if only because I'd heard so many comparisions to Peter Jackson's mighty "Fellowship of the Ring."

I've got to say that while Jackson's film is destined to be a classic, and it transcended the typically poor fantasy genre (see the loathesome "Dungeons and Dragons" as an example), the film version of Harry Potter did not, and it will certainly be forgotten by most. You can smell Hollywood in every frame of this picture, which is just about the worst thing one can say about a "fantasy" film, and unlike "Fellowship," the CGI is very poorly done and calls much attention to itself. There just isn't much imagination invested here. Maybe if Terry Gilliam had made it, it would have had more of a genuine atmosphere...

For those of you who were subjected to all the comparison/hype like I was concerning these two films, forget it. Each film has wizards and a troll, but that's where the similarities end. Where "Fellowship" is an achievement and a fantastic tribute to the original books, I have to assume that the Harry Potter books are far superior to this film version!

And as for the extras on the DVD...terrible. Too complicated for kids, too childish and boring for adults.

Summary: Good Movie, BAD EXTRAS
Review: This is the tail of two DVD discs; one gets 5 stars and the other gets 0 stars. If I could give a 2.5 star rating I would.

First let me start off with the good things...the film itself. This was one of the best adaptations of novel that I have seen (the best being The Green Mile). I thought that the characters came to life and that the images and effects were wonderful. It really transports the viewer to Hogwarts. The DVD captures the film beautifully and I thought the picture quality was very good.

Now on the other hand, disk 2, the Extras. Well, I guess they would be great if you could figure out how to see them. I read that it is like a game where you are a student at Hogwarts and need to get all of the things for school prior to going and exploring the grounds to find the deleted scenes. Well, if you are an adult have fun because it is near impossible to figure out. I guess it would be fun for the children and I guess I should face the fact that this movie and DVD was intended for children.

All in all Great Movie, and DVD, just not such great extras. I would buy this DVD if you liked the movie and have some time to spend to try and figure out the Extras!
