Summary: A well-made film that stays true to the book
Review: A little over a year ago, I read the book called "Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone." I instantly got hooked on the series and read the other three books in less than half a year, even though I'm grown and I'm not a huge fan of witchcraft or wizardry.

Anyway, as soon as I heard about a movie being made of Harry Potter's first book, "The Sorcerer's Stone," I couldn't wait to go see it. I went to see it last night and I was real impressed, there's just one thing about the film that wasn't perfect....its length.

"Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone" does stay VERY true to the already-classic book of the same name. If you've read "The Sorcerer's Stone," then you'll recognize every sequence in the whole movie, all the way from Harry getting his first invitation to Hogwarts, to the quidditch games, and of course, the mystery of the Sorcerer's Stone itself.

Everything about the film is right in place. "The Sorcerer's Stone" has dazzling special effects, right on the mark acting, and the characters, plot, script, and almost everything else about it are pretty much perfect. The only thing I didn't like about "The Sorcerer's Stone" is that it seemed a bit short, and too fast-paced. Like in every movie adaptation of a book, there are a few parts that are left out or not touched on as much as they should be, but "The Sorcerer's Stone" doesn't leave out any MAJOR parts and it touches on each subject just enough, making it easy for everybody to understand and follow, even if he/she hasn't ever read the book.

"The Sorcerer's Stone" has everything that fans can't wait to see, such as the mysterious Voldemort and Snape, the Forbidden Forest, Hagrid's illegal pet dragon (one of the parts that wasn't touched on enough), Harry's invisible cloak, the dangerous journey to the Sorcerer's Stone, and so much more, including my favorite part of the movie, the quidditch match....even though there's mysteriously only one match.

In other words, if you are a fan of the Harry Potter book series, or "The Sorcerer's Stone" in general, you will most definitely like this movie, but it might seem like a short 2 and a half hours to you. I would rate "Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone" a 4 and a half, but there's not a 4 and a half rating, so I'll go ahead and give it the perfect score of 5 stars. I can't wait to see "The Chamber of Secrets" next year!

Summary: A Must See!
Review: This is a really good family movie.Even though it is not as good as the book I still rate it 5 stars because it's really good as a movie and seeing what JK Rowling thought it should be like.
The story wasn't changed at all whitch is nice. The movie was really good even though so much was left out.
The actors and actresses were really good. Even though for the most part it was their first movie.
The sound affects were really good and really realistic. The magic and other affects were done so good you'd almost think that it was real.
The only complaint that I have for this movie is that it is not long enough. If you havn't already read the book I think you should read it first so the movie will seem logical because as I said before they left out way too much.
On the whole this is a very good movie that you should make sure you don't miss out on.

Summary: harry potter movie
Review: i loved the movie the special affect were wonderful. but they should had followed the store line more closely. i know no one knows how books 5 through 7 will end but i have a feeling they left out a very important guestion at the end of the movie of book 1. in the book harry ask dumbledore why voltamort wants to kill him what did his parents do to earn his warth and dumbledore replies "the one question i can not answer". i think this will be a curcial answer as the books progress. thank you.

Summary: Harry Potter: Reintroducing The Classic Adventure
Review: It was so amazing I had to go back the next night and see it again. The Harry Potter movie was just incredible. It's been a long time since a classic good vs evil story has brought my imagination to life. I grew up with Tolkein and CS Lewis, The Never ending Story, etc, loving Gandolf and Aslan, Prince Caspian,Sebastian, and Eowyn. Wondering whether or not to read the Harry Potter books, I went and saw the movie first. I didn't know quite what to expect, but within the first few minutes, I wished I knew the whole story and sat with uncontainable excitement as the story unfolded. The 3 main characters were exquisite, behaving as children do, giving the performance of a lifetime. This is a sure hit for all ages, the type of movie that makes you smile and say, "I remember when..." I used to think that I could become invisible inside of myfavorite blanket, I could rescue unicorns, and I could enjoy the simple imagination of my childhood. It seems like just yesterday if I closed my eyes and thought real hard, I could see Lothlaurien, the elves, the sprites. Now when Iopen my eyes, I see Hogwarts, Privet Drive, and can't wait to get my hands on the next book, a little late in joining the excitement, but never too late to enjoy it.

Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Review: A really good film; I enjoyed it immensely, but I was disappointed that some scenes were either omitted or changed to fit time. I wouldn't mind sitting in a theatre for 4 hours!
But it was a good film, the acting was great, and I liked it a lot :)

Summary: Excellent
Review: Writing as a 32 year old lady I have watched this movie for the second time & I was even more impressed.

When you look at all the characters that had to be introduced, it's amazing there was time for a plot - every face needed an introduction & explanation of who they are. The characters that feature in future books have been show so you can easily see the development of the next installments.

Robbie Coltrane was excellent, you really laughed when he states his "I shouldn't have said that" lines & the boy who played Ron was great he has such a comedic face.

I can't wait for the DVD & hope they can fill it with some deleted scenes so I can match them to the book

My only critical point is Harry is meant to be a wizard & we didn't see him cast a real spell. Hermione & Ron were both given spells but none for Harry.

Overall it was fantastically cast & they looked like they had fun - roll on the Chamber of Secrets.
