Summary: What a disappointment!!!!
Review: If you didn't read the book before seeing the movie, you would not understand what's going on, and you may even hesitate to pick up this book for future reading.There are so much hype about this movie may encourage people to read more, but I doubt it. I think it even back fires instead. I read the book a few times before going to the movie, and I had a hard time following it myself. I left the theater with no impression whatsoever of this movie. Radcliffe is cute but he didn't portray Harry Potter very well. It's probably the director's fault!!! If you read the book and curious about the special effects, then go see it. But don't expect anything esle out of it.

Summary: "Harry Potter" is a great film adaption of the first novel!!
Review: I am just so speechless about this movie! I mean, when I went to see "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" not too long ago, I found out that I was in for a real treat. And man, was I ever! I loved all of the characters and that I think that this first film adaption followed the book really well. I also loved the special effects that really made this movie. In fact, the special effects kind of reminded me of "Star Wars: Episode I". And speaking of the characters, Daniel Radcliffe was an outstanding choice as Harry Potter! The other child actors, Emma Watson as Hermoine Granger and Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley make a terrific team alongside Daniel Radcliffe's Harry. As for the adult actors, I have to give a lot of credit to Robbie Coltrane, Richard Harris, and Alan Rickman. Excellent job from all three of them! I really wasn't a big fan of the "Harry Potter" series, and that I was just going to see the movie for the fun of it. And I'm really glad that I did! I can not wait for the next "Harry Potter" movie, "The Chamber of Secrets", to be released. This is possibly another one of the best films of 2001! And you know what, I think that Daniel Radcliffe just might be the next Macaulay Culkin someday!

Summary: Wonderful film, with some inconsistencies
Review: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was an incredible film filled with enchantment. The acting was superb and the special effects captivating. Albus Dumbledore (played by Richard Harris) was delightful, and completely as I had pictured Hogwart's headmaster.
The film had a few inconsistencies, but the overall picture was enthralling. While most of the discrepancies were minor; one concerning Norbert (Hagrid's young pet dragon) was rather noticeable. Nearly every facet of Norbert's existence in the book was distorted in the film.
The final trial between Harry and Professor Quirrell/Voldemort was marvelously done. Quirrell (Ian Hart), a horribly rotten character, was incredibly portrayed. Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton), however was not nearly as repulsive on the screen as he was in the novel.
Overall Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was an extraordinary film, as expected since it was based on a phenomenal novel. I therefore issue it 4 out of 5 stars. The lack of a perfect 5 out of 5 due to the fact that as it is such a beloved novel, the inconsistencies simply cannot be overlooked. It was a wonderful film for both young and old audiences. Review: Honestly, when I first heard of this H.P. craze, I thought, ah just a bunch of kid stuff. (...) This movie was great and it was right on with the book as some others stated. I was absolutly someone who wasn't interested at all and was totally turned around. (...) I thought there was plenty of magic and good special effects. All I say, if you doubt it, give it try. You may be surprised!!!!

Summary: The book comes alive?
Review: I saw Harry Potter on opening night, and it was very good. If you're a fan to the books, some scenes were dissapointing. No Peeves, no midnight Duel, no newspaper reading cat! It was good, very good. I gave it a 4 because it lacked some very important, and good scenes from the book. If you've never read the book, it should be better.

Summary: Go Enjoy A Movie
Review: This is a movie that was wonderful to watch, was it more than two hours long? We would have watched a longer version to completely tell the story, but it would need an old fashion intermission so we would not miss a second of the film. We can't wait to own it on DVD and we are looking forward to the next film. It was just the fire our fourth grader needed to finish the second book and start the third. The perfect treatment for a wonderful youth fiction book.

i absolutly loved thie movie Harry Potter.The characters are amazing and the scene was great too but the thing/character that i LOVED the MOST is Sean Biggerstaff.His role was small but not insignificant,and with his amazing accent he was even better.I plan on seeing the next movies again and again. Summary: Yes Virginia, there is a Harry Potter!
Review: I am a moderately enthusiatic Harry potter fan. I don't dress in Quidditch robes and hang out with 12 year olds, but I do indulge in the books on which the film is based and find them truly an engaging epic about a boy wizard. Having read some of the other revues and heard all of the negativity surrounding the movie, I feel it must be said: If you are looking for "magic" or "awesome effects", if you expect to be dazzled with "action scenes" or to see Jackie Chan, then look else where. This movie isn't about magic you can see. It isn't about "Matrix-like" effects. It is about a boy. The boy who lived. It is a legend that millions of children know by heart. It is a magic that they create. In their hearts. The awe of the two children who sat beside me on opening night was priceless. With each new scene they exclaimed with hushed respectful wide-eyed delicious enjoyment, "Co-o-o-ol." It is a film with a pretty powerful message. One that most of it's critics are missing. There is a greater power than any magic. Love. Millions of children cannot be wrong. They are critics that are more harsh than any who are PAID for their reviews. They are more honest than even the most critical Trekkie. They don't lie. Thousands of adults who have listened to their pint-sized critics have been given a gift. The gift of Harry Potter. This movie isn't about Hollywood. It isn't about special effects. It isn't about witchcraft. It is a valentine for our children. From the adult world to the world of the child. Valentines don't have to be pretty. They don't have to have flowery verse. Most often the best ones aren't. Take off your adults glasses and put on the ones you wore as a child and then you will see the true beauty of this film. It is a masterpiece of childhood mythology. One that by alienating yourself and exclaiming "I don't get it", doesn't make you look intellectual, it makes you look heartless. It is like saying that you don't get the "Wizard of Oz" or that "Charlie Brown's Christmas" is lame. So if you are an adult who still believes in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, (or in the case of my family, the Great Pumpkin) not because you HAVE to...but because you know that it is more fun to believe than not. See it. Read it. Believe. I did and I can't help but believe that I am a better person for it. And I know millions of children that would agree with me.

Summary: Very well done. Cast wonderfully cast.
Review: True, for a Harry Potter long time fan the movie did forget or rather (summarized) things up a bit. But even though it was summarized, it was still well done for a book that as readers and future readers know and will know, is very complex. The movie was designed to capture those that have not read the book before, while giving those who have read it a more visionary glimpse to what we imagined. The special effects was good. Yes some scenes you could tell the difference between person and CGI very quickly (Quidditch) but it's not like it was horrible or anything. Or do you really think that people can fly on brooms? It's a given.
However in my opinion what pulled this movie through more then the story itself was the cast. Never did I see a cast so well chosen than this movie. Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) IS Harry Potter, the looks the way he carries himself, everything! Heck, he even shares Harry's birthday. Yes, Daniel needs a little more acting skills, some of his expressions were a bit lacking, but he is young and had previously little to no experience beforehand. I expect great things from Daniel in the next movies to come. But the truth is I couldn't help but see Harry in Daniel all the way, from beginning to end in this movie. No other I think could have done better. Rupert and Emma (Ron and Hermione) were in short excellent! One thing to notice though is that Ron missed a lot of his hilarious remarks in this movie, I hope that he will be a little more witty in the next few. Hermione I think needs no improvement, Emma Watson was great as her. And Malfoy...needless to say ...too good.
Of the professors, clearly the cast blew me away. Snape was PERFECT!from the utter look of disgust he has at Harry, to the extremely "hard worked" smile he sometimes might attempt to give someone, which is hilarious. The cast who portrayed the professors and gamekeeper Hagrid were amazing! In short I highly recommend this movie. I recommend even more however to read the book before you see it. Believe me when I say that a lot is shortened out in the movie, so it will be possible to fit it within a 2 hour or so span. Or else, we're looking at a 5 hour movie. For those who haven't read the book,the story is simple and easy enough to understand, with and incredible twist in the end! Very entertaining, specially if you're a stage and cinamatography type of person (Hogwarts is awesome) the set in Christmas, Halloween and end of year celebratons are utterly beautiful! Quidditch won't bore you like the race in the Phanthom Menace did. It's quick and to the point. Don't however expect too many laughing moments. For the most part the film was not comical at all. But the story and watching the incredible cast unfold it all is what blows you away. Great movie!
