Summary: Most overlooked Movie of 2003
Review: This was the most overlooked movie of 2003. Great effects, great music, and great acting. It was overlooked but probably one the three best movies of the year. I think the child stars will probably become household names as adults - no silly child actors. And despite knowing the story line - it was still exciting and new. Dont miss it - a fantastic family movie - with or without kids.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of the BEST family movies
Review: I took my girls to see this at the theatere, and I had no idea that I would enjoy it so much!! I've been counting down the days until the DVD was released. This movie was worth watching again and again!!

Summary: They Still Haven't Gotten It Right
Review: I read this story as a child and saw the Disney version and unfortunately, this version was more action than the rather cerebral/Freudian book.

First of all the special effects were incredibly cheesey and from ILM yet! Peter Pan moves way too fast for an entity weighing more than the bee he flies like. Didn't buy it. The trip to Neverland through outer space, didn't buy that either. Neverland was more like a place in a dream, a fourth dimention you might say.

The same actor playing both Wendy's father and Captain Hook (who gets killed by Peter) and then there's nothing standing between the two. That's rather spooky and you can read into it what you want. I don't want to go there.

This was better than the Spielberg disaster of 1991, but not much. Disney's cartoon version seemed to pass it on as what the author had in mind. Great music score though.

Summary: Get taken away to NEVERLAND!!!!!
Review: I originally saw this movie in theatres and i was blown away by the special effects and the music. The cast is excellent and each plays their part to the fullest. The sets look like they just popped out of a story book and the music is really an adventure in itself. While Peter Pan is commonly known as being a story for children, this film adaptation really doesn't hold back on the darker aspects of the story. The mermaids aren't the beautiful creatures we think of them as in stories but are instead red haired ,green skinned ,sharp toothed and feral in appearance. The home underground is absolutely amazing and the forest is breath-taking. I also love the fairies especially the scene where they are dancing. This is one of the films most memorable and breath-taking scenes. The pirate ship and the sword fighting scenes are classic. The DVD includes behind the scenes footage of literally almost everything in the movie and there is also a very special deleted scene when Wendy grows up. The actors are great with Jeremy Sumpter as Peter Pan, Rachel Hurd Wood as the beautiful Wendy and Jasson Isaacs in the dual role of Mr. Darling/Captain Hook. Lynn redgrave is perfect in the role of the stuffy Aunt Milicent but still manages to have a certain loving quality at the same time. Overall, this is a great movie and while being somewhat over-looked when compared to some recent family films, this version will go down in cinema history as being a spectacular tour de force for the child in everyone!!!!

Summary: perfect!
Review: This movie made me feel genuinely wonderful. I cried at the movies, I cried at home when I watched the DVD. Even if I dont remember the details of the movie months from now, I will remember that it made me happy...like a kid again, like I was smiling from ear to ear. I loved all the visual effects- the way neverland looks- I think I had to open my eyes all the way to absorb it all. And Peter Pan himself is perfectly cast, not to mention the lost boys, who where so cute and loveable. I have no money but I still have to buy it!!

Summary: Wonderful!!!!
Review: This movie was so wonderful. It was really breath-taking. It is now my favorite movie and I will always love it. It is probably the best movie based on the book. It was exactly like the book, except that one of the scenes happened out of order. It was wonderful(again) and Jeremy Sumpter was a perfect person to play Peter Pan. I will watch this over and over again.
There is one scary part that lasts about 5 seconds, when the mermaids come. They have webbed fingers, red hair, and red eyes and they try to pull Wendy into the water, but Peter saves her. It was a awesome movie! Buy it!

Summary: Dazzling.
Review: The DVD is great. I received it as a present from an aunt of mine, and I'm happy I've finally got my hands on the Peter Pan dvd. The movie is full of magic, adventure, romance, and sword fights! This will appeal to the adults as well. I didnt expect much when this movie came out, but when I saw it on the theatres, I was blown away. =D Don't miss out.

Summary: The Only Peter Pan
Review: For the first time in my life, I got the message of the story. The kids did a spectacular job. The theatre audience gave a standing ovation at the end. Kids under school age got scared, but all other kids and adults should love all of it.

Summary: Almost a Perfect Movie
Review: This movie was quite outstanding. The only shortcoming was the actor who did Peter Pan who at times had spots of poor acting, otherwise, a delicious execution of this psycological tale and an understanding of the history behind the story makes for a marvelous movie. Pulls a few punches but the story is pure. A true keeper.

Effects were awesome, and the world of Neverland very absorbing. Hook - best performance of a Hook I have ever seen, and Wendy.. you gotta see the movie. Brilliantly casted.

Summary: Easily the best version of Peter Pan ever made
Review: Do we really need another Peter Pan movie? I had my doubts before I saw this first live-action version of the original story. But watch just a little bit of this film, and you'll be hooked. This is the version you've never seen before. Unlike the comparably simple Disney film or those awful live-action spinoffs (like Hook), P.J. Hogan created a full-scale, lavish production that truly captures the sense of adventure and wonder that was found in the original story. The beautiful special effects and the cinematography draw you in (and they are so well crafted, it's a wonder why Oscar overlooked it). But more importantly, kids and adults will relate to the deeper messages about childhood and growing up that J.M. Barrie intended.

Hook is played superbly, and the pirates bring sufficient suspense and intrigue into the story (and may frighten some kids -- hence the PG rating), but the real gem is in the brilliant interplay between Wendy and Pan. This is one for the family, and one for anyone who ever felt the mixed emotions of growing up.

Of the ample DVD bonus features, the most interesting is the alternate ending, where a bewildered Peter Pan returns to find that Wendy has sadly grown up. But the adventure continues as Wendy shares her childhood adventures with her daughter. Nice work there.

Peter Pan was a small film at the box office, probably a victim of bad timing with other kid flicks. It has mostly unknown, but exceptional actors, and is definitely a great choice for DVD. It's just too bad that it was never on the radar screen for any awards.
