Summary: I can't say enough....
Review: I just can't get over how good this movie is! I was reluctant to see it in the first place. Peter Pan has always been one of my favorite stories, and the previews for this version just seemed so different than what I was used to. Thankfully my friend suggested we see it, and the rest is history. I completely fell in love with it. Everyone in the cast is so wonderful...Jeremy Sumpter is awesome. Could they get anyone better to play the eternal child? As for Captain Hook, well let's just say that I've started thinking up pirate names for myself now. Jason Isaacs is great in this role, he gives the Captain so much emotion that I've never seen before. The whole movie is packed with emotion, it's great. I will say that in my six experiences at the theater to see Peter Pan, the small children that were there in droves seemed to be bored. Teens and adults will enjoy this more. The story is much more sad and dark than most people might think, just as the original story is. But it's so beautiful, don't miss out on this one. I do believe in fairies...I do! I do!

Summary: Beautiful remake of classic tale
Review: This film has amazing aesthetic quality. The screen play is somewhat different from the original novel and stage play, but includes classic lines, the same basic story, and certainly the same heartwarming theme of a boy who won't grow up and a girl who realizes she must. The young actors who play Peter and Wendy put on an impressive performance. There are long trailers in the beginning, but it's worth it.

Summary: try Robin Williams in "Hook"
Review: Well....my little cousin is doing a play on "Peter Pan", so she had to get inspiration. I told her to go a head and rent Robin Williams in "Hook". But no, she rents the new version, so I said ok I might as well watch it. I told her to take it back and get her money back from blockbuster. This is a terrible adaption to the Peter Pan story. First goes off as the acting, kids these days suck. This guys performances was worser than Elizabeth Berkley in "Showgirls". I mean the special effects have gone better, but this is just too bad. Too too bad actually.

This is definitley the worst family film of 2003 next to "Good Boy". Please, if you want to show your kids a great family film, try toy story or pee wee's big adventure. Or if you want to show them a peter pan movie, its all about robin williams in Hook.

Summary: Great Adaptation
Review: This is a beautiful live action movie of Peter Pan. I was simply thrilled and amazed as to how the story came to life. I honestly can not think of any complaints. Every one worked well with each other.
The special effects are great. There isn't too much but just enough and even the back ground music is riveting. Highly recommend for a Peter Pan lover.

Summary: Good movie - lousy DVD
Review: The movie is pretty good but if one shells out the $$ for this DVD, one is forced by the manufacturer to watch previews up front and that warrants a negative rating.

I totally resent being forced to view any preview on any DVD I buy - and the DVD player I own will NOT skip ahead with this DVD as it does with the other DVD's we own.

Take my advice - buy the video tape version and fast forward past all the crappy previews.

Summary: DID I JUST PAY 20 BUCKS FOR THIS JUNK!!
Review: I can't believe they force you to watch The Cat & The Hat trailer bfore the movie starts horribly irritating. The movie was not enjoyable at all I felt like I was watching HOOK all over again. Hook was an excellent movie because,of Robin Williams, Julia Roberts. I really came close to turning Peter Pan off. Besides the awesome talent by Jason Isaacs the acting was horrible. You could even tell when the blue screen was up & rolling. I did not care for the awful special effects either. Don't Purchase this movie!!! If you have to see it RENT IT!

Summary: An endearing tale of everlasting childhood
Review: I just got done watching the movie adaptation for Disney's "Peter Pan" and enjoyed it immensely. I've never been a fan of the animated version but I absolutely loved this recreation of the classic story about the adventures of Peter Pan, a boy who refuses to grow up, the intriguing storyteller and mother to the lost boys, Wendy, his pirate nemesis, Captain Hook, who seeks revenge from losing his right hand, which was fed to a crocodile that has since then continued to follow him with a ticking clock inside, wanting to taste more, and of course the magic that is Neverland. However, this new edition doesn't just focus on the greatness of staying young forever (or until you die) but it also shows the sadness of it too, giving this film more substance and meaning. It's definitely geared toward adult audiences who take pleasure in enchanting fantasies, like me, but it's certainly suitable and fun for the whole family.

Although this is based on the popular animation they are similar in plot yet details are slightly altered, giving this several interesting twists so that your uncertain as to what is going to happen next. The beginning even takes place before Nana (the dog nurse) captured Peter Pan's shadow, which I found to be very clever as I always wondered how that happened... Tinkerbell was dazzling as the jealous faery, the sets, or rather special effects were all magnificent, and the entire cast was superbly chosen. This is, in my opinion, one of the better films to come out of 2003 so come be a kid again and enter a world that shall bring that to the surface... That is until you wish to return home.

Summary: Excellent "Peter Pan" flies high
Review: "Peter Pan" flew into theaters last December. Its flight was short-lived because family audiences seemed to show little interest in yet another telling of the century old story. It's always difficult, though, to figure out why good movies like this one fail [or why bad ones succeed]. This version - to me, the best one ever made - doesn't hesitate to show the darker side of the tale.

We all know the story. Wendy Darling and her two brothers are visited by a boy named Peter Pan, who lives in Never Never Land, where adventures are endless and where children never have to grow up. The three siblings decide to go there with Peter. Being children, they don't think much about the consequences of their actions. These include how much they will be missed by their loving parents and odd it might be to be forever young.

I love how dreamlike Never Never Land is portrayed here. Maybe it was all a dream Wendy had, maybe not. She has, after all, a vivid imagination. I like how egocentric Peter is, how much a master of his domain he is - and, ultimately, how lonely and sad he is. I like how Capt. Hook relates to Peter, how much alike they are. I admire how the fairy Tinkerbelle is portrayed as a willful, deceitful being who will do anything to get just what she thinks she wants at the moment only to reverse herself when she realizes that what she wants is not what she needs.

This is a thinking person's "Peter Pan". Not, I suppose, what our audience wants now.

Summary: A brilliant vision of a classic story...
Review: I don't rate too many films five stars. I'd probably give it something like 4 1/2 if I could. The reason for the severity of this rating is simple: I LOVE THIS FILM! It captures the wonder and adventure of the best childhood daydreams but it also does something more. To be Peter Pan might be fun for a day, even a year, but for all of eternity? The fact that the film dares to explore this suggests that something is a little twisted about this Peter. Rachel Hurd-Wood, in a stunning debut, gives Wendy a complexity seldom seen from child actors. This Wendy is clearly attracted to Peter, and he seems to feel the same way, but their love is forever marred by his staunch refusal to grow up. Pretty heady stuff for a children's film and it's simply amazing how well this film keeps it all together. Jeremy Sumpter is terrific as Peter, although his performance has some awkward moments, mainly because he's the only American cast member. While the other kids deliver their lines with the spot on quality of classically trained actors, Sumpter's accent tends to make him sound like he's mumbling when he delivers some of his more poetic dialogue. What keeps his performance good is his amazing physical presence and his naturally, likeable cockiness. This Peter has the happy-go-lucky wit of an Indiana Jones combined with a sort of stunted quality that makes him a little like Edward Scissorhands. Jason Issaacs, in a dual role as Captain Hook and John Darling (Wendy's father), steals virtually every scene he's in. Whereas other Hooks have been sort of comedically bumbling villains, this Hook is a true bad guy. This is the first time we've seen a version of this story where Peter actually seems like he has a match in Hook. Combine all this with amazing visuals and a number of entertaining set pieces and you have a film that literally touches every joy a movie can. If I ever have kids, this will be the first PG film I ever let them see.

Summary: Worse Peter Pan ever!
Review: First, you should not buy this DVD for the fact that you will be forced to watch trailers for Cat in the Hat, and Two Brothers. This is a very aggressive sales technique, and I believe it to be unacceptable.
Most of the lines from this movie were taken directly from the book. Unfortunately, this was not done well, and caused a chunkiness to the movie. The acting was sub par. The special effects were colorful, yet poorly done. The bluescreen effects were obvious.
