Summary: The Box Set is the Best!!
Review: Baby Boomers gotta have the Box Set. Darth Vader, C3PO, R2D2, Yoda, Obi Wan, Han, everbody looks much better digitally remastered. It is part of "Our Generation." You simply must own this set. It is a part of our heritage.

Summary: Awesome movie, and a great DVD
Review: I am refering to the All Region DVD that is now available, but only if you look hard enough. This movie is great, but DVD is the only way to view it. Widescreen, with crisp DTS or Dolby Digital sound (TIE fighters zooming overhead, Sweeet!!) This movie is great, and the new scenes are pretty cool in the original, but they mess the whole movie up in Return of the Jedi (Jabba's place at the beggining resembles an episode of Barney the Dinosaur). The original and ESB are great with the new scenes. (...)

Summary: The Best Action Movie I've Ever Seen
Review: These movies are AWESOME. They were the single thing that started me off on science fiction. They have everything: Unforgettable characters, great dialogue, a wonderful plot, and excellent special effects. Did I mention the amazing music? I would recommend this series to anyone who would like a start to science fiction that starts them off with a bang. I would recommend this series to anyone who already loves science fiction. Basically, anyone who owns a VCR should watch this series. It will blow your mind!

Summary: Much Much better than Phantom Menace
Review: Now these are good movies. I barely remember when I was 6 or 7 or what not and saw Star Wars in the theater. It wasn't until high school that I became really interested in it. Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi had a lot of continuity with Star Wars. Besides, Han's Falcon is really cool! These movies had Lots of adventure and sci-fi as well as some fantasy, but who says it's fantasy, there is a science to the "Force" it's a energy eminating throughout the Universe and I quote "If there's a bright center to the Universe then this is the place it's farthest from." Quoting Luke Skywalker referring to what he did not know at the time. true Wisdom is what you do not know but know anyway. I already have the tapes on Original and 'Special' edition. I usually watch the originals and won't be buying this new release. However these are good movies. Not because they have the name 'Star Wars' stamped on the cover but because they are good, plain and simple. Phantom Menace also has 'Star Wars' stamped on the cover/movie poster but was a terrible movie.
Clone Wars is coming out soon and I'm not to gung ho about it either, but I will watch it once(...), if I like it, I'll buy the DVD, if not, I won't. that simple. When this comes out as the Original version, I'll buy this DVD simply because DVD's last 100,000 years and tapes last a mere 5.

Summary: Great Trilogy to Add to your Collection!
Review: Star Wars," George Lucas's timeless masterpiece, is like visiting a place in the imagination. Watching it again is like revisiting the time when movies were supposed to be fun, adventurous and great looking. It still stands as probably the best and most popular science fiction film, it makes "Star Trek" seem like something for boring people. "Star Wars" is a unique blend of action, romance, mythology, style, technology, and just plain good old storytelling. The characters are plain, but who cares? They live in a universe so complex that their own complexity is something we could care less about. What's great here is the blend of special effects and the story. Lucas fills the screen with great visuales while still telling an exhilarating tale of good against evil, a princess in distress, a wise old master of the Force, his young pupil who will reach a greater peak, a space pirate and his hairy comrade and they only care about the bounty, and a dark lord who wishes to stop them. "Star Wars" never fails to entertain, looks great and feels great from the first shot to the last. Lucas's script is pure brilliance and imagination. Watching "The Phantom Menace," you realize "Star Wars" is still better. Lucas has created great modern mythology, and an incredible blend of special effects with story. "Star Wars" is still one of the greatest films of all time, an immortal work. (...)

Summary: Actually, the movie was five stars, but...
Review: ...this edition gets only one. At first, I was ambivalent about the changes made in the "Special Editions," but with repeated viewings I've realized that almost EVERY noticeable change weakens the movies. In Star Wars, the Jabba scene is played too much for comedy, and the CGI is horrible. If the earlier Biggs scene had been reinstated as well, the second might not have been so bad (although it still would have weakened the film.) But as it stands, it comes out of nowhere; you need to have read the novelization (is that thing even still in print?) to understand what's going on.
The last complaint is the biggest: until Lucas gives us the original theatrical trilogy (NOT Special Editions, or at least selectable versions) on DVD, he's not doing what he should be and doesn't deserve another penny from us.
That said, OF COURSE I'm going to see EPISODE 2 (I can't quite bring myself to say "Attack of the Clones") when it comes out. It's Star Wars, after all.

Summary: A long, long time ago....
Review: I own the special edition box set (all three movies). I remember when I was like five years old, my dad took me to the movie theater, and introduced me to the first of the movies that later became my all time favorites....Star Wars: A New Hope (Episode IV). From that point on, I got hooked. About the special edition, the extra footage is amazing, the THX sound rocks, and it brings you back to that galaxy far, far away, like the opening was yesterday. The only bad thing is that the special edition was released only on VHS. I wish they would later release a DVD edition. FX are amazing, sound is great, picture quality is pretty good (so far), and the plot of each of the movies....well, if you don't know what I'm talking about right now, GET THE MOVIES, because you're like 20 years behind.

Bottom line...classic sci-fi action movies....after all, it's STAR WARS

Summary: Star Wars - Sraw Rats!
Review: I always go back and forth between the Star Wars movies. They're good, well-made movies, but I don't want to labeled as a "Star Wars Freakzogeek" so I tend to keep my distance. If someone asks if I like Star Wars, what I do is say, "Those are good movies, but have you seen The Matrix?!?!" because that's like the cool movie right now, I guess. And the amazing thing is, they're both VERY similiar! (Think about it!)

A New Hope was the first in the series (not really the FIRST, but let's not get that started), and it's a good movie. I always feel sad when I see Mark Hamil. I mean, here's a guy who never went beyond the Star Wars films and is probably out alone right now crying in a hotel room thinking about how big Harrison Ford got it and how low he sunk. I think the last I heard he was doing a voice-over for some video game. That's pretty bad.

The Empire Strikes Back was the next movie made, and it's probably the deepest (which means most people don't like it that much; the hosers). Yoda is in it, the creep. Sad ending in this one, because Harrison Ford gets frozen. Of course, if Mark Hamil got frozen the audience would've stood up and cheered, the poor sap.

And now we come to Return of the Jedi, the last WELL-MADE Star Wars movie that's been released. It basically three movies: you got the Jabba the Hut part where Carrie Fischer runs around half-naked; you got those horrible, little Ewok creatures that's a warning about how "cute" Episode One will be; and then you got the whole creepy Emperor, who's a real jerk and likes to zap people. Darth Vader turns out to be a good guy (and NOT James Earle Jones; he's some bald, old, white guy!).

The Phantom Menace is one of those Disney "kids-are-smarter-than-adults" films cleverly disguised as a Star Wars movie. There are some pretty clever hair styles in here, so if you're a barber, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! It'll give you some creative ideas.

If you're a Star Wars nutso, you can see those boring Ewok movies (Ewok Adventure, Battle for Endor, etc.). They're kinda creepy, like the Ewoks themselves. I never really liked them that much; those movies gave me nightmares when I was a young 'un.

Summary: Greatest Sci-Fi Flick of All-Time
Review: Quite simply the most famous and influential Sci-Fi movie of all-time. Sure, the "Empire Strikes Back" is technically a better film -- better paced with more advanced special effects-- but, "Star Wars" is indisputably the grandaddy of 'em all. Back in '77, lines stretched around city blocks and suburban multiplexes as EVERYONE just had to witness this inter-galactic blockbuster. A cultural icon which spawned many cheap imitations, "Star Wars" wasn't merely a movie; it was a two-hour thrill-ride which kept us kiddies coming back for more and more. Why? Because we were mesmerized by the eccentrically cool characters like dangerous Darth Vader, wise old Obi Wan and lovable R2D2. For all its space-age glitz, "Star Wars" ironically played a bit like an old-fashioned Western. There were good guys and bad guys. Lines were drawn and spectacular shoot-outs determined who was left standing in the end. Most astonishing, of course, were the truly out of this world visual effects, which for my money, have held up quite well over the past 24 years. So sweeping is the "Star Wars" influence that one could safely conclude that every effects-laden film of the past two decades owes allegiance to this original Sci-Fi masterpiece. The only question surrounding "Star Wars" is why hasn't it been released on DVD? If George Lucas would package it with "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" and load it with extras, The Trilogy would undoubtedly become the biggest selling DVD set ever. But, hey, that's just wishful thinking. Overall, "Star Wars" is one of the coolest and most enduring films of all-time. Its influence and appeal has been felt by two generations. Not unlike "The Wizard of Oz", it will prove to be timeless and will continue to entertain many generations to come.
