Summary: Great, but DON'T LOOK AT THE BOX BEFOREHAND
Review: This is a very enjoyable 9-minute movie, and you don't have to be a diehard Star Wars fanatic to enjoy it. You just have to have seen the 3 initial movies. The price is a bit high ($12 including shipping), but worth it if you'll split the price with some friends. After all, Blockbuster doesn't have it.BUT, don't look at the box or talk with people about it before watching it. Remember, it's only 9-minutes long. There are lots of scenes on the box that you'll find quite funny in the movie if you're NOT already anticipating them. Don't lose the fun of half the movie by seeing half the jokes beforehand.

Summary: The best always make it look easy
Review: "George Lucas in Love" is an engaging and witty fantasy that takes off from what we know about the real George Lucas, his films, and movie-making today. By assuming that kind of foundation, the few minutes of running time can pack in the kind of gags that would take much longer to set up in a truly new story. But then that's one of the natural strengths of any satire. The problem of making a better satire is that it must transcend the source material to make a statement of its own. Merely poking fun at dramatic conventions is entertaining, but not particularly memorable. The transcendance hoped for in "George Lucas in Love" is whether the mythic experience of college education and young romance can foster great achievement in life. In the cloistered and sponsored world of the academy, with its artificial pressures and deadlines, young George is thrown together with the kind of real-life characters and experiences that somehow provide the sources for his later dramatic achievements. The portrayal suggests that without both the school project or the girl, young George would never have amounted to anything. That makes for an interesting plot, and in the few minutes of running time, with all we already know about the real George and his later work, it permits us to fill in all the blanks, suspend disbelief, and be thoroughly entertained. It may be asking too much, but a deeper crisis or tragedy could have deepened this plot and heightened the humor. Writer's block in the face of a term project deadline is a thin pretext. In "Shakespeare in Love" we had the Queen herself and the magnificence of the bard, in "Star Wars" we had the fate of the universe, but no such depth is even attempted here, even satirically. On the other hand, the light weight may be precisely the best atmosphere, if we're supposed to engage the comic message that Star Wars (the movie) was just an accumulation of many accidents. The funniest part of this might be that the question of whether the real George Lucas should be taken any more seriously than the hapless student portrayed in "George Lucas in Love". Movies do not make one great.

Summary: WHAT IN THE WORLD?
Review: I have seen this short and am very confused why it is the number one seller. It lasts for a very short while nothing ever happens. It is a boring film project by boring film students that think they are very clever. The actors, director, writer and editor should be shot on site. This is not a good short it is not worth your time please I beg you DO NOT BUY THIS FILM. Do not keep it number one. For the love of God please just say no.

Summary: Cute, slick and too short (like me)
Review: Very cute movie, but not a parody of Star Wars at all, only Shakespeare in Love. The classic Star Wars parody was done a long time ago and it is called "Hardware Wars." Without the soundtrack which cleverly parodies both movies, this short gem wouldn't have worked at all. Pretty high video quality for a student film. But way too short.

Summary: Best Short Movie I've Seen In A Long While!
Review: this mini-movie is a must for all Star Wars fans! I laugh through the entire thing everytime I watch it. It plays just like a Monty Python movie -- every time you watch it, you find something you didn't see before. The actors gave superb performances. I hope they produce a follow-up to this one!

Summary: Just Fun!
Review: I loved George Lucas In Love...I thought it was clever and fun. As a person who grew up with Star Wars, I admire George Lucas' creativity, but I'm not obsessed with the Star Wars trilogy and/or Episode 1. I do, however, admire this video for the same reasons I liked Space Balls--it's just FUN. Why does everything have to be so serious these days to be considered a 'great film'? George Lucas In Love, to me, is a great film short. Enjoy it for what it's worth!

Summary: Great Fun!
Review: I watched this for the first time with a group of friends, all Star Wars fans. About half of us had seen Shakespeare in Love, but we'd all seen the various Star Wars movies many times. The movie produced gales of laughter. Several times we had to stop and back up because we were unable to hear the dialogue following one of the gags. I'd highly recommend this for any Star Wars fans - it's definitely good for a laugh.

Summary: George Lucas in Love is best of the short
Review: This is by far the greatest short film of the year. Being a spoof is one thing but being a good spoof on a great concept is what makes this video outstanding. Everything from the Vader-esque neighbor to the beard on "Lucas'" chin is relevent in either the fabled "Trilogy" or real life. This director knew what he was doing and did it with passion. To reiterate: This is the a truly wonderful comedy about an absolutley amazing man. It gets my thumb way up.

Summary: At this price, a must own!
Review: This is truly one of the funnier Star Wars things I have ever seen. There seems to always be a Mad magazine spoof, or references to the Trilogy + 1 in a Kevin Smith film, and while these kinds of pop culture type references are amusing, I have to say this short blows anything else away. And the thing with this is you get the references, they are right there in the open, no thinking involved and you laugh everytime. For Amazon's asking price.... and if you are hoplessly devoted to the Saga..... then buy this film.

Summary: Lucas fans will love this
Review: This short film is great. I saw a few clips and a review of it on Roger Ebert's show tonight, and they loved it. I went to the web site that they mentioned and saw the movie, and I found it to be a very original farce that I think is worth a few bucks to own and be able to show to all your friends. Most take-offs of Star Wars focus on the actual movie, whereas this film focuses on the inspiration of Star Wars. Keep in mind: 1. You must love Lucas' movies to understand all of the jokes. 2. This is not a Hollywood production, so don't have TOO high expectations. 3. It is a SHORT FLM. If you can agree with the above requirements, I think that you will love this little film. Everyone involved in it deserves praise.
