Summary: Lots of Fun
Review: This film was lots of fun to watch on DVD. Besides, Gretchen Mol is simply stunning!

Summary: Better than The Matrix across all parameters bar revenue
Review: One of at least three "virtual reality" movies that came out over the last year, and a better one, too. Although the ending was somewhat predictable and therefore a bit disappointing, overall still a lot better story than, say, The Matrix. True, did not do as well as the latter at the tills... I'd guess one issue is that you actually have to watch it all the way through instead of drifting in/out without losing any content. This movie also does not lose the story and turn into 'shoot 'em up' as The Matrix does. The Matrix may have more spectacular digital effects, but camera work is a lot better in The 13th Floor - check out the circa 1937 Wiltshire Blvd! The only reason I give this movie four stars (besides the ending) is that I think that Dark City explores similar subject more effectively.

Summary: Just Great
Review: After my friends and I saw this movie, we were all blow away at the fact of a virtual world and ramifications throughout the movie. Although it has a similar theme like that of the Matrix, it appoaches it in a totaly different way and amazes even the most scrutinizing movie goer -- I highly recommend it.

Summary: One of the Best Movies This Year!
Review: I saw this movie because I was bored and walking by the theater. I thought I would be killing time for a couple of hours: I was wrong, this time was not killed, it was extremely well spent. The thing I liked best about this film is that it doesn't take time out to explain things, but rather simply shows you the situation, and leaves the understanding to you. In other words, it does not insult your intelligence. Its theme is similar to that of The Matrix, Dark City, and ExistenZ. Having seen all of these, I would rate this one the best of all of them. While I enjoy cinematic gunfire and explosions as well as anyone, I do enjoy a film which does not feature a lot of this sort of thing, and instead relies on the plot itself to keep the story moving. This film is one such. The movie posters said "Question Reality." I am now following that advice. I would rate this film as the best I've seen this year. Now I'm just waiting for the video to come down in price.

Summary: Two thumbs up!
Review: I have to admit that after seeing the trailers in the cinema for this, I had no wish to see it, but I rented it today on DVD and was very impressed. Another review mentions the Dark City reference, which is one that I'd agree with. Visually, it is stunning. Those who will enjoy the film in 5.1 will be pleased. Overall a very thoughtful and well-made film.

Summary: Predictable and slow
Review: I skipped this one in theaters because I had just seen the Matrix. While I thought it would be similar, it definitely wasn't. I was unfortunately disappointed in this movie. While I heard it had a lot of potential by having a virtual world set in 1937, I found that the plot was dreadfully predictable. Plus, the pacing of the movie seemed a little off. I thought for a moment or two I was watching a made-for-TV movie. It just moved too slow. The whole Jekyll-Hyde aspect of the main character, Douglas Hall, could have been explored a bit more. Instead, the movie just hinted that it could be there until it exploded at the end. This was just one pacing problem that caused the movie to be not very entertaining. Pass on this one.

Summary: Excellent.
Review: This is a really great movie. I admit that it could have been better, but still. The whole love story thing was really cool, and the philisophical messages are way more complex than the matrix (which only deals with one simple issue that was nothing new for anyone with any intelligence at all). Really, a very cool movie. For some reason it sort of reminds me of "Great Expectations" (w/ Gweneth Paltrow) and an Ayn Rand novel.

Summary: Fantastic movie, really interesting, makes you think
Review: I would recomend. One of my favorite movies of the year. Really makes you think.

Summary: Top 13 movies of all time
Review: All time worst, I've ever seen

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: An interesting concept, but not very well done...
Review: I found this film to be utterly boring and overlong and when I was watching it, I paid more attention to the 'Briteny-Spears-like' conversations going on behind me. It's not necessarily a rehash of the Matrix, but it's not nearly as good as that film either. It had an interesting idea, but the filmmakers couldn't keep your interest with it... There's just TOO MUCH ANNOYING DIALOGUE. Avoid.
