Summary: An absolute disgrace from the batman franchise
Review: At first I was ecstatic to here that WB was putting out a new batman film, that was until I saw it.

How in their minds could they put out such trash? Honestly, do these people think that it was going to be a hit? There was absolutely no value to the movie. A midget farting has more wroth and entertainment than "Mystery of the Batwomen". However, I did find one good thing about the movie, the ending credits. If you really like Batman, you will hate this movie.

Summary: The Dark knights first feature appearance since 2000
Review: Batman hasnt had a movie since batman beyond return of the joker. Return of the Joker (uncut) is one of the best bat films to date. I hear this story is simular to that of Batman: mask of the Phantasm. Most every animated batman movie has been awsome, and since the animated series has always been so good, I have high hopes for this film. Although this film is not supposed to be as gritty as return of the joker or phantasm, I have still heard alot of good things about it. The action is good, andthere is a suprise ending. Features bane and penguin as the main baddies. THis movie also introduces a new character: BATWOMAN.

Summary: not as good as it could have been
Review: Batman mystery of the Batwoman was certianly a decent batman movie, but it wasn't anything too great. It certianly had its moments and an interesting soundtrack that went well with the mood of the movie. However it lacked the dark edgey tone that the animated series usually had. One of the main things that ticked me off was the fact that bruce wayne is a dark character, and is just a cover up for batman. Thats something the series has always portrayed and in this movie, batman focuses more on his life as bruce wayne than on his life as the dark night. Another major problem was the new voice actor for Bane. Bane has always been the coolest villian in the animated series and has always looked and sounded great. The original actor who voiced bane did not voice him in this movie. He was replaced by a more well known actor who didnt do nearly as good of a job at capturing the character. The voice he was given made him seem very stupid. Bane is supposed to be from south America, but they go to far with that by making him say things like "senoir", and "amigo" too often. robins voice has also changed for the series since hes gotten older, and this new voice insnt nearly as good. It isnt bad, again it just doesnt capture the character as well. penguins voice is also done by a different actor but it isnt quite as noticeabale as it it is with the other voice over changes. Some of the lines of the characters seemed to have little thought put into them. The animation is fairly good, but it wasn't any better than the animated series and it didn't meet the standards set by Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. The animation does look VERY smooth, especially on the dvd. The mystery of the Batwoman could have been much more mysterious. I dont know what it was but there seemed to be a few things missing from this movie. This probably had a lot to do with the absence of Bruce Timm and Paul Dini, who are responsible for the overall greatness of the series. over all it was a pretty good movie, but it could have been done better.

Summary: Batman Returns In Animated Form
Review: Batman returns to the small screen in animated form and for fans of the animated series this film shouldn't let you down. Much like the other Batman animated feature length films this one is dark yet not as dark as Mask of the Phantasm was.
Gotham City is in an uproar over a mysterious new crime fighter Batwoman. Uncertain of the Batwoman's intent or motives Commissioner Gordon swears to the public that Batman and Batwoman are not connected. Batman, with the aid of his alter ego Bruce Wayne, seek to uncover her secret identity. What he uncovers is a gun smuggling operation led by Ruppert Thorn and the Penguin. Batman soon learns that Batwoman is working to foil the smugglers plot. Has Bruce Wayne, Batman meets a lovely young woman he becomes taken with. She is the daughter of a crime lord who is apart of Thorn and Penguin's plasma gun ring. From there on Batman and Bruce follow the clues to lead to the identity and motives of Batwoman. A some what surprise ending and an appearance by Bane make this one a good watch.
I like the way they drew the Penguin and I also like the several new characters in this one. One draw back with this movie, and its a major draw back for me, is that the great animated and theatrical version Batman theme music is all but gone in this movie and replaced by a jazzy sounding mix. Batman's theme plays for only a few seconds and is mostly down played. If you watch the cool extra cartoon "Chase Me" first before the movie you will know what to expect.
Now the DVD.
A clear picture and good sound just like you would expect from a DVD. A word of caution do not view the behind the scenes or special features before seeing the movie itself. They give away the identity of Batwoman at the start of each making of without any warning! I made this mistake and had the semi secret spoiled early. You may want to watch "Chase Me" first because it sets the basic tone of this Batman feature.

Summary: Pity
Review: Batman' Animated Series was much better than this serie...Put some more money and buy " Batman - The Animated Series, Volume One" .

Summary: Not Similar enough to original series, nothing new either
Review: Batman: The Animated Series was a brilliant show, with great stories, acting, and animation.

This is a competent children's movie that attempts to mimic the original series, and while it is a nice attempt, it ultimately fails.

This is just a drawn-out version of what would have been a immemorable episode, and you ought to just pass it over.

Summary: Another great Batman cartoon
Review: Being a huge Batman fan I don't really see the anime series as much as I use to.It's never really on anymore and that irritates me.Mystery of the Batwoman answered my prayers. From Mask of the Phantasm, and Sub-Zero this was another terrific story for the cartoons of Batman. My frienda and I sat around to watch it,and we were all impressed with this film.Suprisingly it's hilarious (which was something I didn't expect in a Batman cartoon). For those of you who choose not to watch these cartoons give them a try. This one was better than Batman & Robin. It's full of twists and turns, that will keep you guessing till the end.The voices are great, the drawings are beautiful, and the effects are pretty good. There's actually I charcter in this movie who looks just like Halle Berre (I'm serious). The ending was good to for Bruce Wayne.I wish they would just quit trying to make more Batman movies, and just make them to cartoon films instead.

Summary: Comparisons are inevitable!
Review: Being the fan of the animated series and owner of previously released animated "Bat-films", I, like others, can only rate one against the other.

It's true that this latest "Bat-adventure" does not have the "look" or depth of "Mask of the Phantasm". It doesn't possess the pathos as exhibited in the tragic villainy of Mr. Freeze in "Subzero". Even the "Batman: Beyond" films satisfactorily add to the myth of the Caped Crusader by showing how an aged Bruce Wayne/Batman comes to grip with his mortality and the mortality of those around him.

That said, "Mystery of the Catwoman" is adequate entertainment, adding nothing or detracting from the popular character. It's action-packed enough to appeal to the younger audience while possessing a few "adult" touches in the dialog and sexual innuendo between Bruce Wayne and one of the three new female characters.

The animation is slightly below the other films and the musical score is not as dynamic as previous Batman films.

Kevin Conroy does his usual superb balance of vocal deviation between playboy Wayne and his superhero alter ego. Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. and Bob Hastings are in fine form, returning to their respective roles of "Alfred" and "Commissioner Gordon". Kyra Sedgewick is appropriately "heroic" and "enigmatic" as the mysterious "Batwoman" while Hector Elizondo has fun as the muscle-bound "Killer Bane".

John Vernon is always welcome in the recurring role of kingpin Rupert Thorne. It's too bad that his character's on-screen time was limited in the film.

The major miscasting is David Ogden Stiers as "Penguin". Paul Williams voiced the character in the television series and his performance was the definitive take on the webbed-footed one. Stiers is bit too reserved and pompous in his delivery. He sounds too much like his character from the old days of "M*A*S*H!

The "discovery" of The Batwoman's identity is satisfying, although it reminds this viewer of the late live-action "Birds of Prey".

After watching "Mystery of the Batwoman", one can understand my comparison.

Overall, this is still a nice edition to the ongoing saga of Gotham City's most famous resident.

Summary: Great Story, Good Animation, Another Classic
Review: Bruce Timm does another great job with this one. It has every thing including an ending no one saw coming and the coolest charecter of all time, Bane. And in regards to the guy who thinks it looks like the one in the coloring books and thinks justice leage is better, two things 1)Why are you looking at coloring books? 2)Every one else on Justice Leage sucks except for Batman. So go buy it!

Summary: Pretty good ... for a Batman flick
Review: First of all, I think it's unfair to compare this animated movie to the works of Paul Dini and Bruce Timm. They are long gone on other series and this was an attempt to take a new turn of the head in the series. And it succeeds. Certainly, don't want to discourage WB from making more of these movies because I love them a lot.

From a story point of view the plot is obvious. Who is Batwoman? The answer will astound you. I can't say I saw it coming or thought it was the most original thing to do but it was executed perfectly nonetheless. I'm not sure if I'm too fond of the new animation style however, it seems to lack detail where detail is called for and there is an abscence of shadows which gives Batman its dark feel - but as I said they're trying to take a new direction.

Probably the thing I hate the MOST has to do nothing with the movie but with the franchise itself. You'd think that they'd actually have Batwoman stay once the mystery is solved but instead she is gone like all the other new characters - in short, nothings changed AT ALL and it slowly degrades itself because of its reptitiveness. They should introduce some permanent change that encourages fans to stay interested in the series.

So why 5 stars? Well, the special features were great but watch them last or there won't be any mystery. Also I do like the fact that they are trying to show a lighter side of Bruce and the simple fact that they did make another moive. The script is good, the acting even better. To me it was certainly better than Sub Zero for here the viewer is actually drawn into a mystery rather than an adventure.

Bottom line, its a worthy buy. I recommend anyone to buy it or at least see it for its entertainment value. And a note to WB executives if they happen to read this: make the next movie longer than 75 min.
