Rating: Summary: Very Very Freaky Review: I loved this movie...it is literally gut wrenching...I felt like I was in the movie...I mean fearing for my life...Definately had that War of the Worlds vibe to the point of absolute realism. Absolutely brilliant directing and acting..M. Night has a slow pace to all his movies...but it's called suspence...I was dozing in the beginning but excatly half way throught I was straight up in my chair for the rest of the flick...my stomach is still turning from worry and stress just watching it. Just like Sixth Sense, you are just freaked out! You'll walk out of the theater spinning. Awesome Movie!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Better than "Unbreakable," but no "The Sixth Sense." Review: I was very excited to see this movie, and after seeing it, I was a little dissapointed. One of the biggest problems I found with the movie is the script. At points it seemed very poorly written and unrealistic, like that of Attack of the Clones, just not for the entire picture. Some parts, like the news reports, were very well written. The news reports had a very realistic feel to them. Another thing I did not like about it was that there are many unanswered questions in the end. You are looking forward to find out some things, and when the screen fades to black and the credits roll, they still remain unanswered. Lastly, at many parts, the children can do a terrible job acting. this is a minor annoyance. You can not expect a child actor to be great, though. Most child actors are not a Haley Joel Osment. Both Mel Gibson and his brother in the movie, Joaquin Phoenix do a great job. The movie was, on the other hand, very well shot. The use of camera is great, and the music added lot of tension. I found the movie to be very entertaining, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. Overall, I found the movie very entertaining. At some parts it was very well written. The movie is much better than Shyamalan's "Unbreakable", but it was no "The Sixth Sense".
Rating: Summary: slower than molasses Review: I like a scarey movie just like any one else. The trailors and theme seemed like something out of xfiles. But once actually got to watching it, if it moved any slower we'd be going back in time. THe entire movie minus the beginning seemed very drawn out and slow. I was ready to walk outo a number of times, but stayed to see what the ending was. This is one that probably should of skipped theatrical viewings and went straight to tape/dvd.
Rating: Summary: Whats with all the bad ratings! Review: I mean come on I didn't see the movie back when I wrote the review I could only assume it was going to be good, and it was, the Brasilian party scene is excellent you can see it more than once and still be afraid of it, I don't know if it's the music or the footage shown but they fit well together, I found some things in the movie to be abit stupid, wouldn't you think aliens would be more advanced to protect themself from the substance that kills them, I'm not going to say what kills them but it might be abit obvious, very good movie about a man dealing with his beliefs and doesn't know what to think, fantastic movie, most people I know are afraid of the party scene and you might be too, if you don't want to watch the film at least see it for that scene.
Rating: Summary: 'Signs' Hype Not a Hoax Review: M. Night Shyamalan, writer/director of The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, has followed up with a new thriller/horror, Signs, starring Mel Gibson. Shyamalan has followed up with a film that will give audiences the chills, give 'em plenty of jolts of surprises, but also, keeps the audience on the edge of their seat asking all the questions a mystery/thriller of this kind should. The writer/director skillfully executed this movie to nearly perfection status, as Signs offers horror-filled moments as much as it does with great humorous touches. While an idea surrounding the final segments of the film shares similarities with a past cult classic in the genre, M. Night Shyamalan proves that seeing is not always the scariest, as the filmmaker creates moments where your imagination runs free of what really is happening, allowing for a truly frightening experience at its terrifying spots. With a concluding segment (last 15 - 20 mins) that will likely result in pure shrieking screams from millions of moviegoers, Signs could be labeled as the perfect Halloween flick, offering gut-wrenching horror moments to great comic relief. The mystery of Signs is well worth the wait and one hell of a ride, as the film stands as one of the best films in the genre.
Rating: Summary: Now THIS looks like a good scary movie Review: When I saw the theatrical trailer for "Signs", it gave me chills up and down my spine. It looks a whole lot better AND frightening than "The Others". As far as the story goes, it was good, but as for the scary moments, um, let me just say "a few". Of course Nicole Kidman was great. Now "Signs" looks promising. Especially with the great cast (Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix), but will it be a box office hit? I think it will! Be sure to see "Signs" August 2nd.
Rating: Summary: By M. Night Shyamalan comes an exciting Sci-Fi Thriller! Review: The Movie Most people have heard about Crop circles and always have wondered who made them, whether they were a sign, created by an extraterrestrial, or a fraud. This movie tells the story of a father (Mel Gibbon) who lives happily with his family in a rural area in Bucks County, PA. When crop circles the size of football fields start to show up around their county and in the world in numerous amounts, people start to worry. All the animals in Bucks County start to act strange as if they would to a predator. Then citizens lives are threatened by a mysterious, opposing, terrifying alien species. Oscar caliber performances are expected to come from this electrifying, hair raising thriller by M. Night Shyamalan. Pros: 1. Excellent plot is centered on real occurrences that even today confound the most prestigious scientists. 2. Classic portrayal of horror when the mysterious terrified is not shown on screen as a whole; this let's one imagination run wild and it's more scary than actually seeing it. 3. Mel Gibson portrays the perfect part as a father destined to protect his family at all costs. 4. Superior website let's it's audience access many extra features correlating to crop circles. Cons: 1. None
Rating: Summary: bad Review: a big disappointment. poor story, poor directing, poor acting. i've never seen kids who acted so much like adults. the ambience was reminiscent of hitchcock, but any resemblance stops there. not worth even a rental, much less a purchase.
Rating: Summary: Great Story About Faith Review: I loved this movie, unlike my husband who thought it was a complete rip-off and waste of money. He is a sci-fi fan and wanted answers on where the alien invaders came from, what was their objective, how their technology worked, why the crop circles, etc. All very valid points, but I am still in love with this movie because I love character pieces. To me, this was an excellent character piece about a man who loses his faith and finds it again, and all the alien stuff was merely window dressing. You could have the same story of a minister losing his faith anywhere and I would still love it, but the alien invasion does gives the story extra zing.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Movies Ever! Review: M. Night Shyamalan's "Signs" is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Some people think that this movie wasn't that good, but I know that they think this because it is not the action packed blowing-up-aliens-every-way-they-turn stuff that they're used to. Shyamalan is a very gifted screen writer and director, and this movie along with his others (Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, etc.) shows his immense talent and very great style. I think that "Signs" is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time, and I think it will always remain as that.
